need the help of a country plumber?
Hi, I have a 100 foot well, for our water supply, with a submersable pump. For a year, just at our kitchen sink, we have been getting a lot of air spit along with the water from the tap. A normal cup of water looks like a carbonated soft drink, with all tha air that mixes with it. at times, there is so much air, that the tap jumps and vibrates. Now, the air plagues the washing maching and both shower stall in the house.along with the out side tap for the garden hose. The pressure at the holding tank, is constant. I have done a whole lot of looking, for wet spots. I figured, that if air can get in, then at the same point, water can get out. I cannot, any ware, find wet spots, dripping. the cellar instalation is dry, no signs in the yard of constant dampness from well to house. what is the cure for this problem? We do have some sulpher with our water, but not much and water is safe to use. Maybe some bleach is needed?, to clean up some thing. pump is under plenty of water, we have a constant high water table 220 volt submersable pump, high water table big blue Guld bladder water tank, good constant water pressure. heavy wall 3/4 water tube from pump to house.

- It seems like the air is getting in, more than the water is getting out. Check and see how far the pump is submersed, and how much water is in the well. A pump that powerful could create a whirlpool, even when it is completely submersed. The worse part would be to replace the line running from the pump, to the house. The air in your lines can cause some serious problems with your plumbing, and your appliances. GOOD LUCK-------J Hill
- I think either your pump is riding above the water level, or there's a leak with ther line running up to the surface. It sounds like you've logically trouble-shot the other possibilities. You could also check your filter system to see if you're drawing in air, but again, it sounds like water would also repel out. I'd bet it's the line or pump towards the water shelf. It may be time to call a country plumber to get the best performance from your system. I'm on a well and still prefer it to city water. good luck
- Check Your Pressure tank if it is a Diaphram tank then it is most likely a well pipe problem if its is a air over water tank then try replacing the float in the side it will have the pressure gauge on it
- not that clued up on this system, but check to see if you have a foot valve installed,if you have,, itll look like a wire mesh filter,, replace it and see if problem persists.
- Two possible problems, the foot valve is not seating properly and you are pumping air into a none pressurized line causing the spitting or the impeller on your pump is worn or damaged.
- i do believe there are some pinholes in your plastic pipe going down the well. sounds familiar. gotta pull it up and check it under pressure. call your well people. i am a country boy. been there.
- It may be that the water tank is waterlogged. Unplug the power to the pump and drain all the water out of the water tank. Then plug the power back and let the tank fill up again. If it dont clear up you may have an air leak some where on the pipes.
- Your pressure SWITCH might be bad, call the company that drilled the well and installed the pressure switch, and the pressure tank. and also the pressure tank has to be within 6 feet of the pressure tank, that also will cause instability in your system.
