What is a cheap way to move cross country?

Renting a moving truck is way expensive, and i have a small car. I moved almost a year ago and it only took 2 tacoma sized truck loads and my car full of stuff to get all my stuff there. I will be getting rid of a few larger items ie. mattresses, dresser, big chair... but i still cant fit a kitchen table and four chairs in my car... any suggestions?

1. I see the Vegas sign on your avatar. When I moved here, to Vegas, four years ago I came in only one vehicle. The only things I brought were clothes, essentials, a small stereo and a box of basic kitchen supplies. When I arrived, I spent $500 and bought a mattress, a used couch and a small television. As I earned more money in my new job I purchased other things.
2. If you have someone that has a Pick-up truck and give them some 'extra' gasoline money for the furniture. and if you can get the rest of the stuff, in your small car, then no need for a moving truck.
