Ikea kitchens... what do you think?

I'm soon to remodel my kitchen and am going for a modern 50's look to keep in line with my home's history. Would an Ikea kitchen be worth the effort? For $3K I could do the whole thing over.

1. I'm having a problem thinking of 50s look being "modern." ;-) Ikea has some nice designs and if it is something that you like the price sounds very good for the entire kitchen.
2. ~*~ IKEA has a couple of designs like the AKURUM that would look great in a retro 50's modern design. They are well made and easy to install. Go for it!!
