How do I clean stubborn oil on kitchen walls?

I live in an apartment and the kitchen wall is getting oily. Some of the oils are getting dry and yellow. 409 spray does not seem to work. I tried concentrated Lysol (degreaser). It did not really help. I remember seeing on an HGTV or TLC show that there is a solution to clean this but I am worried it might strip the paint. Please help! Thanks!!!!!!

  1. I'd use TSP. It is used to clean walls prior to painting. I just painted my kitchen and when I used the TSP it did not remove the paint. You can get it at a hardware store.
  2. Try Mr Clean Erasure. I've used it before and it's taken some nasty stuff off my walls.
  3. try Mr. Clean magic erasers...they are awesome and work for everything!!!! and you won't have to leave the windows open to get that chemical smell out!!!
  4. There is a product called "SoilAx." It's in a red box and comes as a powder. It is very difficult to find, but sometimes hardware stores stock it. This product is AWESOME to remove grease and grime from kitchen walls and cabinets! BE SURE TO WEAR GLOVES WHEN USING IT! It is so powerful that it destroys the oils in your skin. If you cannot find SoilAx, try Simple Green. It is also very powerful, but I don't think it works as well as SoilAx.
  5. If it is an grease base, try Dawn dishwashing liquid... add just enough water to get it to suds a bit and use a scrubby-sponge. It has taken nasty stuff off the walls but not stripped the paint. Best of luck!
  6. pour dawn dish liquid right on the spots and take a sos pad lightly to it it will come off
  7. get some joy dish soap and vinegar, and scrub away. works good on carpet stains to.
  8. I use a spray called Grease Lighting and it works great. Read label to see what material you can use it on.
  9. A trick I used when I worked for an appliance company.Take your cleaner and a plastic top from say some oven cleaner or anything close.Spray on the cleaner and go in a circular motion with the plastic top over it.It should remove the oil without scratching :)
