- dude moben is all overheads! its a direct sales operation similar to the double glazing industry
- Half the quality of a kitchen is in the fitting... I'd recommend picking a local firm, and examining what they have on display closely; is that the kind of workmanship you want to see in your own kitchen? Look at details like worktop joins, the cheap and nasty way is a metal strip, professionals won't use one. Make sure your fitter will be the person who worked on the display, or at least some sample of the work is available. There are lots of common suppliers - you may know the worktop names ( e.g. Formica, Corian ), and appliances ( Neff ), and while there are nationally available furniture brands ( like Sheraton and RWK ), there are also other suppliers that allow companies to create own-label brands, but it will still be a decent level of quality. Be sure about what your budget is - granite worktops on a large kitchen can cost more on their own then a whole kitchen in budget units. Don't be distracted by extras like flip-down TVs that can be easily retro-fitted to kitchens if you buy elsewhere. If features such as soft-close hinges are not included, ask, as the parts can usually be ordered. Never rely on brochures to tell you how something will look - to save on costs, sometimes a range is photographed in one colour, then the picture is manipulated to produce the matching pictures for other doors. Above all, ask questions, and make sure the designers know what you want.
- DON'T go to B & Q!!!!!!!!!!!!
- if you are in the north west try M.A kitchens in wigan ..tel. 01942 213327
- I bought my kitchen from Homebase on a day when they had the 'Friends and Family' 20% discount. Beautiful kitchen. I got my own builder to install it though and it's true - it's all in the fitting. Homebase tried to sell me appliances too but they were way too expensive. I got all my appliances from a seller called secondtek on eBay: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Secondtek
- Never Ever think of using B&Q. There product is good, but try getting the complete kitchen delivered it's hell. Great for BT, because it takes dozens of phone calls.
