what type of polyurathane can i use to put over pictures on a table that wont discolor the pic and resist heat

i built a table and i need to put pictures on it and allowed about an eigth of an inch to pour the poly in. I need a polyurathane or some kind of resin that will be heat resistant(kitchen table) and durable and i dont want the picures to discolor either.

  1. why don't you just lay a glass or plexi-glass sheet over them?? I have not heard of what you are asking about and I am a furniture maker! maybe in arts and crafts??
  2. It might be better in this case to change your plan slightly and buy a thick piece of Lexan or similar slab plastic. maybe a quarter of an inch thick, and hold it in place with a molding. At least check out the prices etc. Then you can change or add to the pictures later. Good Luck.
  3. no need to use glass or plexi. Simply use bar keeper. its a similar product to urethane but wont discolor and is more durable and has an excellent leveling for smooth finish. It's available at most hardware stores. I know that Do It Best retailers generally carry it.
