Is it possible to run electrical appliances from the telephone socket? I've been puzzling over this and hope someone who's knowlegable about telephone lines can shed some light. I would appreciate serious answers please. Please do not hesitate to be technical if you have to, thanks! Is it true that the telephone sockets in our house can actually supply enough electrical power to run appliances? If so, what is the typical load it can supply? Is there an chance that I can overload the telephone socket? What would be the consequence of overloading the telephone socket? Would it affect the whole neighbourhood's telephone network? If using electrical apliances from a telephone socket were possible, then I have another question. So the electrical power from a telephone socket is not metered is it? If that were true, wouldn't I be able to run appliances using the telephone socket as a power source without paying for electrical bills? Would the telephone network company be able to register an unusually higher load on the telephone sockets from my house? Please take my question seriously. The reason I'm asking is because I have come across electrical appliances being sold on the internet that is meant to be run from a telephone line. For example I came across a LED table lamp that runs from the electrical current of a telephone socket. If you don't believe me, just search google. Manufacturers really make such appliances that run from telephone sockets

What can I do with my old or nonworking electrical appliances? I have a number of electrical appliances such as CHI flat irons that broke (small wire dammage that can be fixed) or other irons or blow dryers that I don't use anymore. Are there any places that take such things for money or at least recycling? Some of the appliances were pricey and hardly used and I feel bad just throwing them away. Any ideas will be appreciated :)
If you have bad electrical problems could that make some of your electrical appliances not work well? We have problems w/ power going off completely for a minute or so and then coming back on. It may just go off in one room for a minute. and then we have to flip that breaker for it to come back on. Lightbulbs only seem to last a month or two and then they blow. Our trailer is over thirty years old and the electrical has never been redone. My stepmother says that is the reason appliances don't seem to work as well because of the power problem. Is this true or not?
Can electrical appliances go bad? My Mum told me that if you don't use electrical appliances for a long time, then they go bad? I was just wondering if this is true, because there is a sale on electrical appliances at the moment, and I wouldn't mind buying some stuff for when I move out in about 3 years. Thanks! I am planning on buying a blender, sandwich maker, etc

I have already checked several web pages but still have found not enough information to make a decisition. Any related information will be appreciated as well.
How could I overcome my fear of plugging electrical appliances? I've always had this fear of plugging electrical appliances (or plugging anything that has to do with electricity) because I was electrecuted (not severely though xD) before when I tried to plug the USB cord to the computer and it scared the crap out of me. I have an expensive espresso machine and would die if it broke down!
Is it safe to run too many electrical appliances from one wall socket? At the moment I have about four appliances (some high drain) running from each of the four wall sockets in my rented flat. I'm worried that it may start a fire, damage my equipment, cause an electric shock or something else similarly undesirable. Or perhaps less seriously it may mean that the appliances are not getting enough power and are therefore running at a lower capacity? What can I do/buy?
Where in the US can I get power cables for the smaller electrical appliances? Recently moved from the UK, so I need power cables for the following: - External Hard Drive - Skype Phone Base Station - etc These appliances come with a power cord from the socket to a small circular head that plugs into the said appliance. I've looked in Walmart, and all they have is a mutihead adaptor for 18 bucks, when I really need just a power cord with the wall socket and the right size circular head. Any advice is appreciated!
Any ideas on making chopped liver without electrical appliances? I'm at our mountain cabin and the kitchen has no small appliances. I'm dying for some chopped liver and have all ingredients. Any ideas on how to get the liver, onions and egg smoother enough? Well, while a knife would certainly "chop" it, chopped liver is much smoother than that. I think I'm going to try a ricer. I found one in the back. If that isn't smooth enough, I'm going to run it through a sieve. Messy, but ought to work. Hmmm, scissors.....sounds interesting
