How come a modern mid size car weighs almost as much as a 1947 Cadillac 60 special fleetwood? Weighing at 4000 pounds, the average mid size car weighs almost as much as a 1947 heavyweight (the 133 inch wheelbase 60 special weighs 4300). This means that the full size luxobarge has only a few pounds over a Honda accord and the Honda has far more plastic, far less steel, and should be designed to be lighter (aluminum instead of iron engine block)

What is the difference between headlight lens cleaners and headlight lens restorers? Acrylic / Plastic headlight lens oxidize and need to be cleaned. Which cleaner removes the oxidation without scratching or damaging the surface protective UV layer. Anything that uses sandpaper or rubbing compound is not acceptable. I don't want to take a chance of causing irrepairable damage by using abrasive compounds on my projector headlight lens. And please no " fix it with toothpaste" suggestions. If its been around for over ten years I already know about it. I am looking for something that's designed to remove surface oxidation without damaging the surface of the modern day UV acrylic lens coating.
I need to Find Props! Can anyone help me? I am looking for realisitc ( preferably metal, though plastic will do) props for coins in metalic gold, silver, and copper coins for cos play and role play purposes. I have not been able to find these fake moneys in silver or copper. I have looked into having tokens minted but the cost is too high for my purposes and both on line and off line party outlets only seem to carry gold plastic and metal "play coins" . Does anyone know where I might find inexpensive silver and especially Copper ones? - Also I would like to try and avoid "modern" American coin designs (( modern currency mimmics)) I am also looking for Gem look alikes preferably plastic or glass in diamond, emerald, ruby and sapphire colors, with out holes and without the flat metal and/or foil flatbacks. Seeking vintage musical christmas bells from the 70's...? There were 8 or 9 bells that were strung together. The bells were made of metal and covered in a gold color designed plastic. Inside there was an electromagnetic clapper that was triggered when the tone in any of the 12 or so particular songs they played called for it. Each bell also had a light connected to the inside with the clapper so that when it went off the light lit as well. The device that was essentially the "brain" of the unit was bulky, heavy, and a semi-translucent dark green or black heavy plastic measuring a good 8 or 9 inches long, about 3 inches wide and a height of about 1.5 to 2 inches. On the top of the unit was a round metalic protrusion (not sure what that was... I'm strictly going on memory with all this) Any one remember these? Do you know where I may be able to find them again in good or better condition? I've tried eBay and Amazon to a lesser degree, but nothing thus far. It appears that there's no modern equivalent to these spectacular bells. Thanks

Can you patch badly damaged plaster walls? I've just bought a house and whoever owned it previously was horrendous at DIY! The units are all fine and quite modern, but they've stripped some tiles off the walls and left an awful mess. There's not a smooth surface to be seen, lumps have fallen out etc.. but I'd really like a tiled splash back. They've even "painted on" some plaster in one area! I've had a suggestion of a stainless steel splash back which I really dont want (reminds me of working kitchens) and we've even considered putting plastic boarding designed for shower interiors on the wall. Can you not just patch up the surface with fresh plaster? And ideally not have to bring in a proffessional plasterer?

ALL ARTISTS PLEASE ANSWER - Describe your dream studio? I am curious to know about your current art studio, whether its at home, or school, or another location...is it disorganized? And what sort of equipment do you use now? and if you could design your own modern studio with no limit on costs, what would it look like? what would your easels, tables, and carts for materials (paints, palettes, turps) be made of? Wood, metal, plastic??? I am an artist and want to advocate the renovation of studio art programs in schools. I want to know what sort of materials and equipment artists out there are curious or have desire to use... I believe that a modern art studio would have equipment made of non-pourous surfaces...metals. but would be made so that they would not corrode or be affected by turpentines, and acids used in creating art. Also clay - which i do not work with much,...how would an ideal studio for ceramics and sculpture look to you?
Have there been any stone cathedral-like buildings built in mordern times? Nobody can deny the magnificence of the great stone structure cathedral's built 100's of years ago in England and France, regardless of religion. For example, St Paul's Cathedral & Durham Cathedral in England and likewise, Chartres Cathedral & Autun Cathedral in France. Each of these Cathedral's and many many more are great works of Architecture and I'm just wondering if any have been built in modern times. I'm not necessarily talking about a Cathedral's or a church to any given religion but a stone building that's been built in modern times that's architecture is just as magnificent as these old Cathedral's. I guess I'm also wondering if we still have the skills and craftsmanship to build such an amazing structure and because they are such a huge demonstration of human ability, why don't we see these types of buildings being but more often. Personally, I don't see anywhere near the same level of beauty is modern buildings. Even huge skyscrapers that obviously take a massive amount of genius and ingenuity to construct seem to always fall short no matter how high or abstract the design may be. I guess glass, steel and plastics will never compare to stone in my eyes. I think it must have something to do with the level of work that goes into building with stone that adds to it's magnificence, plus it tends to feel more honest, if that makes sense.

The power to keep my ice cream frozen is all in the refrigerator. It can keep food chilled or frozen, and can also dispense icy water and ice. We couldn’t live without it. Sleek and simple, a lot of people don’t realize how inportant it is. To begin with, a refrigerator uses blasts of air, which are powered by electricity, to keep food and drink frosty for consumption. It can store marvelous meals or delightful snacks. Some people prefer chrome exteriors over plastic. But all refrigerators generally look similar. And they are all used for the same purpose. Likewise, there are many possible designs for a refrigerator. There can be side-by-side doors, or stacked doors (one on top of the other). The exterior can be stainless steel chrome or hard plastic. There is usually a water/ice dispenser for those hot summer days, or just wanting a sip. On the interior, a light turns on when you open it. Now that’s useful. What’s also useful are the crystal-clear, spill-proof shelves. There are also shelves on the inside of the doors, and drawers somewhere near the bottom. One side of the refrigerator is the chilly side for just keeping things cold, and one side is the freezer. Standard refrigerators are a bit taller than the average adult. But there are also miniature refrigerators, which are no taller than a 2-year-old. Modern refrigerators can now have touch-sensitive screens and televisions embedded into them! But think about it. What would we do without refrigerators? Well, let’s just imagine people hundreds of years ago, having to plan what to cook before they bought or harvested groceries. Most food, such as meat, can’t just lay around for days. Nowadays, we can just buy groceries and freeze them to make them last longer, or we can just chill them for a short period of time. Somewhere along the line, people started filling chests and cabinets with snow, and then they placed their food inside. Finally, the world’s first refrigerator. But in the summer when the snow liquified, an ice chest wasn’t possible. They were back to what they had to do before. Eventually, when electricity was discovered, an electric refrigerator was invented. It’s probably not what we have today, but similar. Now that’s better than a grungy old chest! Think about what we would do without the refrigerator. Like it or not, we would have to use the technology that pioneers did. And it doesn’t even snow in Florida. Good thing we have the refrigerator. Great for keeping splendid food stored and chilled, they are sleek, simple, low-maintenance, and most important, revolutionary.
eco friendly invention? ECO FRIENDLY HOUSING INVENTION, is it any good? worthy of investment? I had an idea for a new kind of eco friendly Architecture, that generates electricity through the movment of the envirnment and temperature changes by using a HYDROLIC DYNAMO on the end of a steel cable, its an idea that may sound crazy at first, but please bare with me, I call it PRESSURE TENSION ARCHITECTURE, it basically involves two elements to build an entire house, esp. good for fast emergency housing, ..... 'INFLATABLE CLEAR PRESSURE BRICKS' with holes down the center of the them are threaded onto 'TENSION CABLE'' (steel cable) ,,, threaded like beads on a necklace, and pulled tight to create a solid wall, very solid created through pressure of bricks and tension of cable... any shapes of wall or house could be made, the technological advances mean modern strong materials are available to make such Architecture feasible, but any old materials could be recycled and used,,old plastic bags could be melted down to make the infltabale bricks,,and or string or old wire could be used as tension cable,,or modern new materials, but essentially cheap fast eco friendly housing, air tight, water tight, warm, lets in light, adaptable, extendable, inflatable, deflatable, weather resistant, earth quake resistant due to pressure tension structure, tsunami resistant, tornadoe resistant, as any lost pieces can easily be put back together... Digital cloud plan for city skies By Jonathan Fildes Technology reporter, BBC News The inflatable elements of the building would sit on top of thin, lightweight towers A giant "digital cloud" that would "float" above London's skyline has been outlined by an international team of architects, artists and engineers. The construction would include 120m- (400ft-) tall mesh towers and a series of interconnected plastic bubbles that can be used to display images and data. The Cloud, as it is known, would also be used an observation deck and park. The unconventional structure was originally envisaged as a centre piece of the city's Olympic village. The building draws inspiration from the work of Tomas Saraceno Its designers plan to raise the funds to build it by asking for micro-donations from millions of people. "It's really about people coming together to raise the Cloud," Carlo Ratti, one of the architects behind the design from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) told BBC News. "We can build our Cloud with £5m or £50m. The flexibility of the structural system will allow us to tune the size of the Cloud to the level of funding that is reached." The size of the structure will evolve depending on the number of contributions, he said. Paola Antonelli, senior curator of architecture and design at the Museum of Modern Art in New York who has seen the design described it as a "sculptural spectacle" and "a celebration of technology". 'Data streams' The Cloud was shortlisted in a competition set-up by London Mayor Boris Johnson. The mayor has committed to build a tourist attraction in the Olympic Park "with a legacy for the east end [of London]". Other finalists are thought to include the former Turner prize winner Anish Kapoor and Antony Gormley, the designer of the Angel of the North. The mayor is still in the "process of deciding" which design will be commissioned, according to a spokesperson. However, the team, which also includes the writer Umberto Eco and engineers from Arup, has decided to push ahead and publish details of its design. The structure draws on work by artist Tomas Saraceno, a German-based designer who has previously shown off huge inflatable sculptures. It is envisaged that the spheres would be made of a plastic known as Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE), the material used to build the Beijing Aquatic Centre. The different spheres would act as structural elements, habitable spaces, decoration and LCD screens on which data could be projected. "We could provide a custom feed of… searches made by Londoners during the Olympics to give a real time 'barometer' of the city's interests and mood," said Google, one of the supporters of the project, which has also offered to provide the information feeds. The team also envisage projecting weather information, spectator numbers, race results or even images of the Olympic Torch on to the building. Ramps, stairs and lifts would carry people to the top of the structure to look out over the city. 'Zero power' The inflatable elements of the building would sit on top of slender, lightweight towers, stabilised by a net of metal cables. Damping technology, similar to that used in Japanese skyscrapers to resist earthquakes, would prevent the towers being buffeted by the wind. The Killesberg Tower in Germany is built using similar principles "Many tall towers have preceded this, but our achievement is the high degree of transparency, the minimal use of material and the vast volume created by the spheres," said professor Joerg Schleich, the structural engineer behind the towers. Professor Schleich was responsible for the Olympic Stadium in Munich as well as numerous lightweight towers built to the same design as the Cloud. The structure would also be used to harvest all the energy it produces according to Professor Ratti. "It would be a zero power cloud," he said. As well as solar cells on the ground and inside some of the spheres, the lifts would use regenerative braking, similar to that in some hybrid cars. That way, the designers say, potential energy from visitors to the top of the tower can be harnessed into useful electricity. The team have launched a fundraising website called raisethecloud.org and are now looking for a site for the tower. Google has already offered to provide free advertising for the so-called "cloud-raising" effort. The firm has offered a sponsored link at the top of the page advertising a "£1 for 1 pixel" concept to people who search for terms relevant to London 2012. Those who believe evolution, intelligent design, what are your thoughts on this? Italian wall lizards introduced to a tiny island off the coast of Croatia are evolving in ways that would normally take millions of years to play out, new research shows. In just a few decades the 5-inch-long (13-centimeter-long) lizards have developed a completely new gut structure, larger heads, and a harder bite, researchers say. In 1971, scientists transplanted five adult pairs of the reptiles from their original island home in Pod Kopiste to the tiny neighboring island of Pod Mrcaru, both in the south Adriatic Sea. Genetic testing on the Pod Mrcaru lizards confirmed that the modern population of more than 5,000 Italian wall lizards are all descendants of the original ten lizards left behind in the 1970s. While the experiment was more than 30 years in the making, it was not by design, according to Duncan Irschick, a study author and biology professor at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. After scientists transplanted the reptiles, the Croatian War of Independence erupted, ending in the mid-1990s. The researchers couldn't get back to island because of the war, Irschick said. In 2004, however, tourism began to open back up, allowing researchers access to the island laboratory. "We didn't know if we would find a lizard there. We had no idea if the original introductions were successful," Irschick said. What they found, however, was shocking. "The island was swarming with lizards," he said. The findings were published in March in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The new habitat once had its own healthy population of lizards, which were less aggressive than the new implants, Irschick said. The new species wiped out the indigenous lizard populations, although how it happened is unknown, he said. The transplanted lizards adapted to their new environment in ways that expedited their evolution physically, Irschick explained. Pod Mrcaru, for example, had an abundance of plants for the primarily insect-eating lizards to munch on. Physically, however, the lizards were not built to digest a vegetarian diet. Researchers found that the lizards developed cecal valves—muscles between the large and small intestine—that slowed down food digestion in fermenting chambers, which allowed their bodies to process the vegetation's cellulose into volatile fatty acids. "They evolved an expanded gut to allow them to process these leaves," Irschick said, adding it was something that had not been documented before. "This was a brand-new structure." Along with the ability to digest plants came the ability to bite harder, powered by a head that had grown longer and wider. The rapid physical evolution also sparked changes in the lizard's social and behavioral structure, he said. For one, the plentiful food sources allowed for easier reproduction and a denser population. The lizard also dropped some of its territorial defenses, the authors concluded. Such physical transformation in just 30 lizard generations takes evolution to a whole new level, Irschick said. It would be akin to humans evolving and growing a new appendix in several hundred years, he said. "That's unparalleled. What's most important is how fast this is," he said. How Can I Rewire The Stereo System In A 93 Ford Explorer? So a little while back I installed a Kenwood head unit in my 93 Ford Explorer, but being the idiot I am, I cut the Ford wires and spliced them to the Kenwood ones instead of buying the $4 harness. After enough trial and error (note the Ford and Kenwood wires are VERY differently color-coded), I matched up the right colors for powering the Kenwood head unit. However, the way the Explorer was designed was wires would go through the old Ford head unit, then through and amp, then to the speakers. Well modern head units have the amp in them, so I don't need to go through the Ford amp. Also, the speaker wire from the Ford head unit were really small and worn, so I'd like to run new wires. That's where my problems start. Right now i have speaker wire running through my car to the doors, which works, but doesn't look good at all. So I'm looking for a wiring diagram of my Explorer, so I know what plastic I need to detach and run wires under. Does anyone know where I can get one?

What kind of plant life can I use for landscape in a beach house in Southern California? This isn't a real house... I am an majoring in architecture and I am currently working on a beach house project, in which I have to build a scale model.... My site is in San Diego, California... I plan on designing a house with a large backyard garden with palm trees and other trees and plants. My question is, what kind of trees and plants can I use in southern California, specifically plants that will be able to handle well in a beach environment? Keep in mind that it is a beach house, with direct access to the beach... I want to us a variety of bushes and trees that are big enough to create some privacy around the house since my site has a 6' public access walk right next to it...... I want plants that range from 1' tall to 8' tall....... I plan on using miniature palms trees scattered around the house as well... I specifically want to use mainly nice looking colorful bushes, and trees, and some nice exotic plants.... Why are modern cars so chintzy? Most bumpers are made of plastic now.The thing designed to protect against damage is made of plastic.Gimme me a damn iron pipe any day,that doesn't cost me $500 to get a dent out of. could i have your opinion on my design technology project,please? i plan on designing a modern bus stop, it would mostly target a city or areas with lots of workers. it would have a touch screen computer which you could use to access bus times, email, news etc. comfy benches unlike the older sloped plastic ones. i was also considering a kind of portaloo which would be attached to the bus stop this would deter drunk people from urinating on the bus stop itself thus avoiding the smell. i was also thinking maybe wi-fi, which would be perfect in london in my opinion. but please any comments at all would be so helpful.

Agree or disagree? New instant cameras should be made to look more sleek and like the digital cameras.? I have a love for instant cameras but the new designs of them disgusts me truly. It looks like they've been designed to be a child's play-toy rather than an actual camera, they are so rounded/curved and especially with the plastic, and thus it's colors are just horrific because of the plastic. Now this is just my opinion on this, but I think Fujifilm and hopefully Polaroid (supposing they're going to make other models after the 300) would make smarter looking and less like a child's toy, instant cameras like the digital ones or maybe even base their cameras looking slightly more like the old (antique-like) ones to preserve it's history, well, The Impossible Project is doing what I'm kind of saying right now, but I guess, it should have a bit of a modern feel to it and also to make it slightly less bulky or maybe less noticeable as an instant camera like the ΠρoCam from The Impossible Project. He discussed how to heal thousands of diseases, many of which modern science still has no answer. Along with herbs, diet and lifestyle, Atreya showed a correlation between mind, body, spirit and ethics. He outlined a charter of ethics centuries before the Hippocratic oath. Rhinoplasty, amputation, caesarean and cranial surgeries, anesthesia, antibiotic herbs While Lord Atreya is recognized for his contribution to medicine, sage Sushrut is known as the "Father of surgery". Even modern science recognizes India as the first country to develop and use rhinoplasty (developed by Sushrut). He wrote about causes and cures for diabetes, TB, and heart diseases. At that time, European medicine had no idea of these ideas. In fact, even today many of these disease causes and cures are still unknown to modern allopathic medicine. Other unique quality of Ayurveda is that it uncovers and cures the root cause of illness, it is safe, gentle and inexpensive, it sees 6 stages of disease development (where modern medicine only sees the last two stages), it treats people in a personalized manner according to their dosha or constitution and not in any generic manner. Further, Ayurveda being the science of 'life', Atrea was quick to emphasize, proper nutrition according to dosha, and perhaps above all else, that there was a mind/body/soul relationship and that the root cause of all diseases and the best medicine for all conditions is spiritual and ethical life. The gas in our intestines comes from several sources: air we swallow, gas seeping into our intestines from our blood, gas produced by chemical reactions in our guts, and gas produced by bacteria living in our guts. What is fart gas made of? The composition of fart gas is highly variable. Most of the air we swallow, especially the oxygen component, is absorbed by the body before the gas gets into the intestines. By the time the air reaches the large intestine, most of what is left is nitrogen. Chemical reactions between stomach acid and intestinal fluids may produce carbon dioxide, which is also a component of air and a product of bacterial action. Bacteria also produce hydrogen and methane. But the relative proportions of these gases that emerge from our anal opening depend on several factors: what we ate, how much air we swallowed, what kinds of bacteria we have in our intestines, and how long we hold in the fart. The longer a fart is held in, the larger the proportion of boring, inert nitrogen it contains, because the other gases tend to be absorbed into the bloodstream through the walls of the intestine. A nervous person who swallows a lot of air and who moves stuff through his digestive system rapidly may have a lot of oxygen in his farts, because his body didn't have time to absorb the oxygen. This is known as "morning thunder," and if the gentleman gets good resonance, it can be heard throughout the household. Why are beans so notorious for making people fart? Beans contain sugars that we humans cannot digest. When these sugars reach our intestines, the bacteria go wild, have a big feast, and make lots of gas! And going up in an airplane or other low-pressure environment can cause the gas inside you to expand and emerge as flatulence. Is a fart really just a burp that comes out the wrong end? No, a burp emerges from the stomach and has a different chemical composition from a fart. Farts have less atmospheric gas content and more bacterial gas content than burps. Is it harmful to hold in farts? There are differences in opinion on this one. Certainly, people have believed for centuries that retaining flatulence is bad for the health. Emperor Claudius even passed a law legalizing farting at banquets out of concern for people's health. There was a widespread belief that a person could be poisoned or catch a disease by retaining farts. Doctors I have spoken to recently have told me that there is no particular harm in holding in farts. Farts will not poison you; they are a natural component of your intestinal contents. The worst thing that can happen is that you may get a stomach ache from the gas pressure. But one doctor suggested that pathological distention of the bowel could result if a person holds in farts too much. How long would it be possible to not fart? As I understand it, a captive fart can escape as soon as the person relaxes. This means that a lot of people who assiduously refrain from farting during the day do so at great length as soon as they fall asleep. Having been on a great many overnight field trips, long bus trips, and trans-Pacific flights, I can personally vouch for the fact that lots of people do fart voluminously as they doze off. So the answer to the question would be, you can refrain from farting as long as you can stay awake! Do all people fart in their sleep? I have not made a scientific study of this, but I don't think all people fart in their sleep. I think mainly those who refuse to fart when they're awake do so when dozing off. How often have you held in a fart, intending to release it at the first appropriate opportunity, only to find that the fart has disappeared when you are ready for it? I asked several doctors where the fart goes. Does it leak out slowly without the person knowing it? Is it absorbed into the bloodstream? What happens to it? The doctors agree that the fart is neither released nor absorbed. It simply migrates back upward into the intestine and comes out later. It is reassuring to know that such farts aren't really lost, just delayed. How can one cover up a fart? There is a company called Fartypants that sells underwear designed to absorb the odor of farts. If you should be caught without your Fartypants, another ploy is to blame the dog or cat, if one should be present, or complain about how the wind must be blowing from the direction of the paper mill. As for the sound... if you are in a large group of people, act oblivious and innocent, or glance quickly at the person next to you, as if you think he/she did it. Other strategies include coughing or suddenly moving your chair so that people think that they misheard the fart. If you are with one other person, you can act as if nothing happened, and the other person may believe he was mistaken in thinking he heard a fart. CJT addresses the problem of farting loudly in a public restroom as follows: "My solution: use a handful of loose toilet paper, cover your butt hole and it will muffle the farting; my friends and I call it the 'Buff Muff'!" Depending upon the company, another strategy is not to cover it up, but to proudly proclaim the fart as your own grand accomplishment and to issue a challenge to the others to outdo that one if they think they can. Is it really possible to ignite farts? The answer to that is yes! However, you should be aware that people get injured igniting flatulence. Not only can the flame back up into your colon, but your clothing or other surroundings may catch on fire. A survey done by Fartcloud (the site, alas! is not more) indicates that about a quarter of the people who ignited their farts got burned doing it. Ignition of flatulence is a hazardous practice. However, if you want to try it, and you don't have a friend to light your fart for you, you might find it easier to accomplish the job using the Fartlighter. Why is it possible to burn farts? Farts burn because they contain methane (usually) and hydrogen, both of which are flammable gases. Few people earn their living directly via flatulence. Why do dog and cat farts smell so bad? A carnivore's protein-rich diet produces relatively small amounts of intensely stinky gas because proteins contain lots of sulfur. A dog's or cat's farts are rarely audible, but the odor is overwhelming. I have asked biologists why dogs and cats generally fart silently, and their theories include: (1) the amount of gas produced is small, but potent, (2) the horizontal orientation of their gastrointestinal system puts less pressure on the anal opening, so the gas is expelled more slowly, (3) their anal sphincters don't close as tightly as humans' because it takes less force to hold in the contents of the colon -- again because of the horizontal orientation of the gastrointestinal system -- and a loose anus makes less sound, and, my favorite (4) dogs and cats don't feel embarrassed about farting, so their sphincters are more relaxed, leading to less noisy flatulence. Mike F. points out that many dog foods are soy-based, so on top of all the above factors, add beans and stand back! Large herbivorous animals such as cows, horses and elephants, on the other hand, produce vast quantities of relatively non-stinky fart gas. The farts of these animals are noisy and can go on for astoundingly long periods of time. Cows in particular are productive, in part because they swallow huge amounts of air. They need oxygen in their guts for the various protozoa employed there as digestive aids. Is it normal for dogs to like the smell of human farts? Yes, any odor that we find disgusting smells delicious to a dog. Dogs respond to the smell of farts, rotting fish, and carrion the same way we respond to the smell of bacon frying or cookies baking. A dog will often sniff the butt of the farter in order to inhale as much of the odor as possible. I have heard only one story about a dog being disconcerted by a fart. According to a friend, her brother once delivered a fart so evil that it made the dog sneeze, shake his head, and paw at his nose. That was either an unusual fart or an unusual dog. Do fish fart? According to our ichthyologist at the University of Guam, fish flatulence per se has not been studied, although people have investigated fish digestion. They find that although most fish have alkaline intestinal environments like our own, coral-eating fish have acidic intestinal contents. The acid serves to dissolve coral skeletal material. Coral has the same composition as Tums (calcium carbonate). One product of the reaction between acid and calcium carbonate is carbon dioxide gas. Therefore, it is logical to assume that coral-eating fish fart a lot. The other fish probably fart also, for the same reasons that we do. However, Mike Pulte, a great fish enthusiast, said that he has never seen a fish do it. I asked our ichthyologist if it were possible that fish gas would go into the swim bladder instead of out the anal opening. He said that modern fish have an air bladder that is independent of the gastrointestinal tract. The gas comes from enzymatic activity and not from the intestine. Older models of fish have their swim bladder connected to the gastrointestinal tract, but it is attached high up, closer to the mouth than to the other end, and these fish come to the surface and gulp air to fill the bladder. Therefore, we can assume that intestinal gas leaves the fish through the anal opening. We also pondered the possibility of fish making noise via flatulence, but apparently most fish noises are made through belching rather than farting. Lisa P., an aquarium enthusiast, reports that she has seen her fish fart: "I have four aquariums and many fish, and I have personally witnessed fish farting! My goldfish used to do it all the time! You'd see a little bubble come out of his anus and stay there, trapped in the mucus of a long string of poop. (Ugh!) And my opaline gourami does it too. Neither of these are coral-eating fish. I have only owned two coral-eating fish so far, but I have never seen either of them fart. It seems most likely to me that much of this gas comes from air swallowed during eating. Also, goldfish have a very simple digestive system and their food is absorbed inefficiently, so possibly the bacteria have more to feed on" Do turtles fart? Yes, turtles do fart, and their farts smell incredibly bad, as do the farts of snakes. In fact, it is my opinion, based on personal experience with reptiles and not on any formal research, that many reptiles use farts as a weapon. Reptile farts smell so bad that sometimes you can tell that one is nearby in the woods, even on a windy day, before you can see the animal. One day I was hiking through the woods in Arkansas with a friend and I told my friend, "I smell a snake fart." A second later, the snake crawled across the path. Astounding but true! In an article published in the December 2000 issue of Discover, "the world's leading expert on snake sounds," Bruce Young of LaFayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, affirmed that snakes do fart. The sonoran coral snake and the western hook-nosed snake fart with an audible popping sound when disturbed. Why do horse farts smell worse than people's farts? I'm not sure that horse farts smell worse than our farts, but they do smell different. Horses have a different diet from us and different gut microbes, so their farts have a different composition. They also fart more voluminously than humans, and the volume of the gas can be overwhelming if one is unfortunate enough to be near a farting horse indoors. What kind of animal has the highest worldwide output of flatulence? Believe it or not, the animal that wins this honor is the humble termite. Because of their diet and digestive processes (with more than the usual microbial assistance), they produce as much methane as human industry. Termite farts are believed to be a major contributor towards global warming. Is it true that cow farts contribute to global warming? Recent research has shown that most methane produced by cows and sheep emerges from the mouth rather than the anus. So one could more accurately say that cow and sheep belches are contributing to global warming. New Zealand researchers are investigating methods of breeding methane-free sheep. Is there any kind of animal that doesn't fart? If we define a fart to be an anal escape of intestinal gas, then it follows that animals that lack intestines or an anus cannot fart. Most animals possess intestines and an anus, but there are some that don't. These include: Sponges: These organisms lack true tissues and organs. They have just a few types of cells organized into a bag with holes in it. Water flows into some holes and out other holes. Sponges are so different from other animals that some biologists think we shouldn't even call them animals. Cnidaria: This phylum includes the jellyfish, corals, sea anemones and hydra. Their tissues are organized into a bag with a mouth surrounded by stinging tentacles. Food enters the mouth and is digested inside the bag, after which the leftovers are expelled via the same opening. In effect, the same hole serves as both a mouth and an anus. Any gas expelled by a cnidarian would be more appropriately termed a belch rather than a fart, since the animal lacks intestines and separate anus. Anyway, these animals cannot possibly fart. A second category of animals that probably don't fart are animals that live very deep underwater. At high pressures, gas remains in solution rather than forming bubbles. So there is a good chance that all those clams, echinoderms, fish and other animals living near the seafloor don't fart because their farts stay in solution and never emerge as bubbles, even though the animals possess perfectly good intestines and anuses. Is it possible to leave a brown spot on your pants because of a fart, and if so, what causes it? Judging from what I see when I do the laundry, I'd say that the answer to the first question is definitely yes. As for the causes, we must remember that what we call "fart" and what we call "poop" are just end-members of a continuum. That is, we can have a pure fart, or a pure poop, or anything in-between, depending upon the admixture of the two. If a sample consists mostly of poop with only a small fart component, you get such things as jet-propelled bowel movements and spongy, floating fecal masses (you know, the ones that refuse to be flushed down the toilet -- they keep popping back up). If the sample consists mostly of fart with only a small poop component, you get what is known as "skid marks" or "fart art." These can also result from inadequate wiping, but the shape of the stain is different in the two cases. The farter would lie back on his or her shoulders with back propped up, head between the knees, and posterior in the air. Is it possible for a fart to kill you? A great many of you have asked if farts can be fatal, or if you can die from smelling a particularly bad fart. My initial response to this question was "no," but I thought I'd better ask a doctor. So now it is official, the medical opinion I received is no, a fart can't kill you. However, if you really work hard at it, you can manage to kill yourself with just about anything. I recently read of a man who hooked up his nose to his anus with a system involving a gas mask, rubber tubing and a hollow wooden post. He died of suffocation. This story comes from the Darwin Awards, and I personally cannot attest to the overall veracity of their stories. The story of the bed-bound obese man who died from inhaling his own flatulence (and whose farts almost killed the paramedics) is an urban legend that has been in circulation for some time. But according to Buzzbomb43, whom I quote: "In World War Two, the Air Force estimates that around 1000 to 2000 airmen were killed because of flatulence. The reason is B-17 bombers were not pressurized, so when bomber crews operated around 20,000 feet, the gas would expand and rupture their intestines." Now, that is a nasty way to go! There are also, of course, (in)famous stories about excessive farters that bio-hazard small toilet rooms, and when they try to light a cigarette the flame ignites the gas-rich-environment causing an explosion. My personal view about such stories is one of doubt. When you smoke and you fart does it make it smell any worse? (Brittney) Only if you swallow the cigarettes after smoking Brittney. If you settle for traditional smoking (inhaling) - the smoke will travel to your respiratory system and not to your digestive system and hence will have little-to-no effect on the odour of your farts. Of course, a minute mass of smoked Nicotine can (and does) migrate from the respiratory system into blood vessels and downstream to the digestive system (Nicotine is actually a known laxative), but the proportions are too small to contribute dearly to the odours you contribute. I am guessing the reason why certain people think cigarettes might intensify the bad smell of a fart has to do with the fact both farts and cigarettes produce bad odours. I don't think however that this is a case of competing bad odours that in blend will create a third - even worst odour. Last, while I do not advise you to ever quit farting - I do strongly advise to quit smoking. Can excessive farting cause impotence? That depends on the tolerance level of the person with whom one is trying to be potent! Fortunately for humans, farting doesn't cause tissue damage. Other animals aren't so lucky. This spirit tears up churches, emasculates and seduces men of god into webs of deceit and sexual bondage. I'm sure you have noticed how these women confessed of their early life molestations and rapes, and entered the scene looking modest and submissive. They all seemed to start out humble and spiritual. But then, once the money poured in and their influence grew, they went for the gold. Makeup galore, face lifts, body toning and plastic surgery. Getting fit and trim enough to leave their husbands only to begin showing off their new (offering and tithe purchased) bodies, showing the world their independent sexiness. The modest look no longer was necessary because thousands of women were hooked. Now they could weave their web of deceit even thicker by moving from God's girls to worldly women. But what happens when the Jezebel spirit occupies a man? What happens when this seducing spirit entices men through a man? I know that sounds crazy, but we have this happening right now before our eyes. Yes, Bishop TD Jakes is the dawning of a new era of men that possess a seducing spirit meant to entice men of God into a web of deceit and sexual submission. How, you may ask? Well, unless you are from Mars you had to have picked up on a serious "effeminate friendly" spirit on this man. And unless you just flew in from Pluto, you know that he has most black preachers and pastors that wanna be something in his world submitting to his money and power. He has single handedly turned the act of preaching into the art of pimping. Preaching damnable heresies and false doctrine, while bumping elbows with the Luciferian elite and Hollywood's iconic celebrity stars. Now, preachers are seeking what Jakes has. They want the money, the fame, the access to the stars, the television, the movies, the parties and elite celebrations. They want access to Oprah and Dr. Phil. They want mega churches and super conferences. They want secular and sacred mixtures to draw the masses and water down the message. They want a television audience without even drawing their own communities to their churches. They have been seduced, but the bitter end is coming early for many of them. They are falling like flies. They are getting caught with their pants down literally! They are being set up to fall and the Devil is laughing while he preserves his "queen" and keeps her spirit safe in the body of a cunning leader. While his family is tormented by internet rumors, while his spiritual children are tormented by divorce and immoral exposures, and while his church congregation is plagued with homosexual and lesbian spirits, he continues to lift himself up and use every avenue possible for a financial exchange. Even TD Jakes bibles studies in his churches are costly. Everything is for sale and nothing is free. Charging upwards of 50,000 dollars to come to your event and then charging admission at the door as well as several offerings tells us that this is a money thing. But even further investigations tells us of a spirit that lies deep within. A sexually seducing spirit that comes to seduce men into allegiances with him for gain and earthly glory. Shouldn't a bishop be an example of a Godly leader to the church and the world? Then why is the very world that TD Jakes is suppose to be winning, outing him all over the internet for having an earring removed from his own pictures after he wore it at his daughters wedding? Yes, the world is wondering why his sons are wearing dreads and earrings and his daughter is sporting a tattoo on her back? You see, even the secular media feels that a Bishop should be a role model and have a family that reflects his teaching and morality. From Media Takeout to the Hick Town Press, the secular online media is eating this up and exposing these things at random. But at least we can give the world credit for believing in the bible's definition of a Bishop more than most modern day church folks.. According to scripture a Bishop should have his children under all gravity of his words and he himself should be blameless right? Well, an earring wearing bishop that is close friends with a drag queen doesn't sound like a blame free situation! What kind of straight man hangs around drag queens? Tyler Perry is a drag queen just like Rue Paul. There is no difference. They both wear women's clothes and entertain as women. That is the definition of a drag queen. What is a bishop doing being very close friends with a man that cross dresses? Now, if you are not pentecostal or do not believe in holiness or hell, then this article might upset you or even cause you to see this as touching God's anointed. But you that believe holiness is a way of living and that God is not pleased with the mixture of the world and the church will understand why this blog is necessary. It's about time someone said what the Holy people of God need to hear! That's the way I feel. I am just a man of God expressing his true love for holiness and righteousness. Sure, no one is perfect and we all have sinned. Sure some preachers have difficulty with their children and many have made errors in judgment. But I'm not talking about those things. I'm talking about a man who is high and lifted up as the example for the modern day black Bishop! The man that has defended piercing his ears and mixing with the world. The man that has encouraged pastors to seek money, fame, and power at the expense of Holiness and God's way! The man that has made it okay to deny the savior for a greater audience. The man that has captivated many former holiness believers and turned them into carnal crusaders! Okay, now for the history of the earring on a male. In the bible days, it was a symbol of slavery. Slaves were tagged on their ears for identification and ownership. Later, in the Egyptian culture, the mark of 2 earrings or multiple piercings on a male represented bi-sexuality and whoreish behavior. And all the great kings and leaders of Godless civilizations that were lascivious in behavior wore them as this symbol. In the early 70's pimps started wearing 1 earring in the black community as a symbol of slavery to sex. It meant that you were a player and enjoyed multiple sex partners. It was called Macho from the term Machismo which means excessive male or extreme male. This is what the single earring meant and still means. 2 earrings on a man was, and in most cases still is, a symbol of bi-sexuality. And now, since our young black boys are emasculated and becoming very effeminate because of the lack of fathers in the home, the 2 earrings are taking their age old meaning once again. How dare a pentecostal Bishop wear a symbol of macho or "slave to sex"? He is the model and now the weak pastors that have embraced his beliefs will begin to wear these things. God forbid! Don't forget the spirit of these things are still following these ritualistic acts of defiance. Did we forget about the spirit realm? As if the black race needs another bad role model. And his sons and now son in law wear 2 earrings?? Lord help us! But Jakes can get away with this. He has gotten away with false teachings before and all the folks that left their pastors that they could touch for a man they will never meet have bought into this. He can teach whatever and they will listen! For example, He has accused Naomi and Ruth in book of Esther of having a relationship that "bordered lesbianism". He has said it's "understandable" for a man to have affections for other men because when God made man, women was inside of him?" He has promoted every homosexual gospel singer in the industry and has even presented a lifetime achievement award to Bobby Jones? Every since the very first Megafest conference, I have been warning the body of Christ of where this was going. Any man that will invite false god worshipers like India Arie or Will Smith to take the stage at a pentecostal type conference is not God lead. Let's not even mention what went on in the men's restrooms and the alley ways of Hot-lanta, the mecca for homosexual church goers! Let's call it what it is people. No more games. No more closed eyes. This breed was developed by David Leavitt by crossing the modern English Bulldog with a Bull Mastiff, Pit bull, and American Bulldog mix. Leavitt desired to produce a dog that was free from the health problems of English Bulldogs, but maintained their temperament. Olde English Bulldogges should be free from breathing problems and should be able to breed and whelp on their own. While still resembling the English Bulldog, Olde English Bulldogges have longer snouts and are taller and more proportionate.
