Kitchen design help!? My fiance and I are picking out our upgrades on our condo...the wood floor that we choose have to go throughout the kitchen, living room and dining room. The design of the building is contemporary. We are having a hard time agreeing on the color of the wood floor and the color of the kitchen cabinets. We are leaning towards dark cabinets (dolce) and light to cherry color floors. This will be a rental unit with good lighting. Please help! any suggestions, websites or personal pictures would be greatly appreciated.
Kitchen design tips? What furniture goes with light yellow tiles and dark brown floor tiles? The wall tiles are light yellow (titan yellow according to wikipedia). They have some almost invisible silver circle details for better light reflection. The floor tiles imitate wood. They are dark brown. The doors are wenge. What color should the kitchen furniture have, in order to match the yellow and brown? (any dramatic ideas are appreciated - i'm not a fan of bubbly sunny places - i was forced to use yellow, because the lighting in my apartment is awful) Is it ok if I buy metallic finish appliances? I imagined they'd go better than the white ones. I'd even appreciate color swatches. I didn't find any that show what goes with 2 colors. Only those that calculate according to only 1 color.
I need help in kitchen/dining design please? I chose a dark cherry cabinets for the kitchen we are remodeling right now. It is a U-shaped kitchen. My husband keeps telling me that the color I picked will darken a small kitchen and makes it smaller. Do you have a suggestion on what type of granite countertop to pick? The color of the floor tile is white with a hint of tan-ish or light brown color on it. I want the kitchen to look contemporary, bright, and also what type of dining set I should pick. Post some photos as well please. Thank you.
Kitchen design - colour scheme? Trying my best to design a new kitchen for our family home, so far: We have white appliances and have chosen white cabinets with beech doors, walls are tiled white from floor to above worktop, we would like either pale green, light sand or light beige for the top half of the walls. Question is, what colour floor and worktops do you think would look best? Thanks

Hello. I need some suggestions on design for my kitchen. I'm out of ideas for it.? Firstly, the floor for my kitchen is made of light yellow (cream colour) tiles and the wall for kitchen is made of two colors which half of it above is brown in clour and another half of it below is white colour. I'm puzzled on which design should I use for my kitchen either traditional, modern and etc. Can you please help me to sort this problem. I need help with a kitchen design? I need help with my kitchen. We bought this house in January. The last ppl put light colored wood cabinets (like a light tan color), pink countertops and a navy blue backsplash. The problem Im having is that the kitchen opens up to the living room and dining room. All the walls are a cream ivory color. If I change the kitchen wall color then Ill have to change the living rm, dining rm and hall color and thats a big problem for me to figure out. I dont want to leave the cabinet color that color. I need help with somekind of design. I also have an island in the middle of the kitchen and the kitchen has stainless steel appliances and tan tiled floor. I can do the countertops and backsplash by myself but my main problem is figuring out the wall color, decorations, and cabinet colors. my email is abmurals@hotmail.com if anyone wants to see pictures. I will change the pink countertops out
Can you see any problems with this kitchen/bathroom design? The bathroom will be next to the kitchen and the connecting wall will surround the toilet, refrigerator and sink. From the kitchen it will look like the fridge is "sunk into" the wall leaving more counter space and so the fridge don't stick out any. The bathroom will look like both the toilet and sink are also "sunk in" leaving more room for the tub/shower and storage closet. The space(wall) between will have a painting and lighting hung on it in the bathroom.Think of the wall as a Square W. Is this a good design or not? Want/need input before we start building.
Kitchen design help- have red retro 50's counter top- any creative suggestions? So my house was built in 1953 & is a fallout shelter. So when I say retro- I really mean retro. At the moment here's my problem- the kitchen. The cabinets are med/light wood & in very good condition- most of the drawers are made of metal except for the front which is the matching wood. The counters, which are in excellent condition, are RED formica with a matching 4"(?) tall back splash with ribbed aluminum trim that runs along the top of the back splash and around the counter edges. The walls in the kitchen, they have plastic tile running up 1/2 the wall and on the wall that my appliances sit, it runs to the ceiling. They are a gross baby blue but I have found a specialty paint & painted them beige (I know- boring!) until I could figure out what to do. On the wall space that's between the upper & lower cabinets the paint would not stick for some reason to the tiles so we put up the plastic "tin" ceiling/wall tiles. Not my fave but it works for now. I would love to rip out the entire kitchen & start fresh however my bank account says that will not be possible anytime soon. Soooo....what should I do? I need some creative cost effective do-it-your-self ideas. My hubby is super handy & has a whole army of tools so we can handle most anything. But honestly I'm stumped on this one. I have searched for hours online & the only color schemes I can find that go with the red counters are yellow, powder blue, black, & white. I'm really, really not feeling the yellow or blue. I'll throw out a couple of my ideas- be honest- let me know what you think... 1) Keep the red counter & paint the cabinets (colors: white uppers, black lowers? Super shiny finish? Any ideas???) 2) Re-paint the ugly you-can-tell-it's-cheapy-plastic-tile or cover it with ribbed tin (like Chipotle has on the walls) 3) Re-place the counter top & lose the 50's-esque feel of the kitchen 4) Cut the centers out of the upper cabinet doors & put in some kind of steel insert w/ a pattern? I would do glass but I don't think it would go? So let me know if you have any suggestions. I have people that walk in to my house & are in awe of this kitchen & just love it- I don't hate it but I just don't love it. I'm not opposed to the red counter but I need a way to up-date this kitchen. Like I said earlier- I would love to put in new granite counters & the whole shebang but it's just not in the cards right now. I need to work with what I have because the bathroom, entryway, front door, 3 bedrooms, & 60% of the basement are still in need of work. Shortage of both time & money!! Thanks for any help!!
New Kitchen - Design query. wood units on wood floor? dilema.? We are currently choosing a kitchen to be installed in our 80's semi. Our initial idea was to have an oak laminate floor put on the entire ground floor (lounge/hall/kitchen/dining area) to create unity between all the rooms and keep dusty down etc. Glass doors to nable light to travel through (dark house). Now we are attempting to choose a kiting suite and ae stuck ! Would wooden faced doors look odd aginst a wooden floor? concernerned it way look to woody - like a sauna? Merge / clash? Should we go for painted wood type or plain doors to complement /contrast with the flooring? Or shoudl we not laminate the entire downstairs and have traditional black / cream tiles on kitchen floor to enable wood units to be fitted? Thus breaking up the "untiy / flow" of having the whole floor the same? We are trying to consider resale potential of the house (in the future) and trying to make it as light and large feeling as possible along with us having to like it obviously. Many Thanks
What color kitchen floor tiles should i fit? So that they will match my kitchen? Hi I am fitting a new kitchen i have light coloured wood units and a dark slate worktop. The rest of the kitchen will be white. What color of floor tiles would best match and look good in the kitchen. Thanks P.S. I am terrible with design.
Help with kitchen interior design?!? I am soon to be getting an apartment and I need some help with the kitchen colors! We can paint the walls however we want, but the counter tops and cupboards can't be touched. The cupboards are like a light oak color and the counter tops are a light off-white. We havn't bought tables & chairs yet (the dining portion is connected) because we want it all to look good together. We like warm colors, but we want it to be fun too. We have a really cool 3 in 1 toaster oven/griddle/coffee maker that is a bright cherry red which we want incorporated into the design. However, we also don't want TOO much red because of it's effect on the brain, making you want to eat more. Ideas please! Links to pictures would be fabulous too! Thanks!
what kitchen design would you prefer? chocolate brown doors and a light worktop beach colour doors and a black worktop
Painting Walls in Kitchen with a Dark Blue Countertop? I have a newly designed kitchen with dark blue countertop. Currently the walls are painted a light blue. We're going to have them repainted but can't decide on color. Any suggestions? Kitchen is part of open floor plan where you can see the Living Room and Dining Room, both of which are painted a pumpkin/copper color, which I attempted to match the cabinets.
I just bought a new home - love the floor plan but not the kitchen. Need to remodel...any ideas? Hi, I just bought a new home - love the floor plan but not the kitchen. The previous owners have put granite floors, stone tiles for countertop, maple cabinets and white appliances. The ganite is black with brown spots like pattern - it is similar to the photos posted in the previous discussion named "Kitchens I have designed". The countertop is light brown with brown grout and the maple cabinets are the light colored kind. If you can imagine it - nothing goes together in the kitchen. I am not sure if I want to change the granite floors as that extends to the family room (open plan). Currently the walls are beige and I am planning on changing that to brown (not very dark but dark). What else should I change in the kitchen to make it look look beautiful? I am looking around in the forum and see very talented and creative people here - so, I am hoping to get some opinions about this. Please do let me know. I really appreciate it! Thank you!
I need some kitchen design help, what type of countertop goes best with this combination? I have maple cabinets with a chestnut stain (a warm brown, like the color of a chestnut) and a natural hickory hardwood floors. I am ordering quartz counter tops but don't know if I should go with the black or cream counter tops. Both look good on the chestnut, but what kind of match/contrast should the counter tops have with the floor? The floors will be a very light color (no stain) and should there be a deep contrast, or should I go with the light counter tops so that everything is brighter?
Where is a great on-line site to look at upscale home lighting? I am remodeling a home and I would like to find a web site that will show me all of the upscale lighting options available. The home is basically French Country (stone exterior, stone hood in the kitchen, faux plaster walls etc.). I am looking for chandeliers, wall sconces etc… I have been to local lighting stores but I want to be well educated in my decisions. I have never been so stressed in my life! Any other design advice would be wonderful. I thank you so much for any help you can offer.
Which solid wood is considered more expensive for kitchen cabinets cherry or maple and which is warmer? Both woods being solid and in a lighter stain color with a glaze. Which would probably be more expensive to purchase and which would be considered a warmer look in the kitchen? Both of the same design in a more traditional raised panel.

What colour should I paint my living room and kitchen? Should I paint the baseboards, or leave them white? My kitchen and living room are connected in a long narrow rectangle. It is a small but bright and sunny space. Our couch is a light charcoal gray and we have a pumpkin orange accents. The floors are pretty neutral. My favorite colour is green, so I was thinking a pale olive green, but I don't want all the the walls the same colour. What should the other colour be? I like contemporary but comfortable design. Any thoughts?
How do I know if I need to hire a general contractor and/or designer for a kitchen/living room remodel? I am a young professional just out of college and I bought a decent, but older condo. I really need to remodel my living room and definitely my kitchen. I have the design ideas of the remodel, but nothing totally set. Here's my dilemma: 1. Should I hire an interior designer and if so, how much do they usually cost? Is it worth it? 2. The biggest question: Should I hire a general contractor OR hire individual skilled contractors separate (electrical, painters, flooring, kitchen installers, etc)? 3. If I go with the general contractor, is this more expensive? If so, how much more would I be likely to be spending? 4. How do I go about choosing the best contractors (especially for the kitchen)? It is okay to go to a Lowe's or Home Depot? I'm obviously very new to this home remodel thing, but here's what I would like to get done: -Remove old carpet in living room. -Remove old tile in entrance foyer and kitchen. -Install laminent wood throughout kitchen and living room. -Re-do baseboards. -Remove popcorn acoustic on ceiling. -Replace old florescent light in kitchen with recessed lighting. -Re-paint entire place a neutral color. Also need to repair minor wall markings. Also re-paint ceiling. -Wire a dedicated outlet to the breaker box for an over the range microwave. -Tear out old kitchen. Install new cabinets, granite countertops, sink, faucets. -Replace appliances with new stainless steel. Thanks in advance! I need as much advice as I can get !!
I need interior design advice/direction to make my living area workable. Does Tara Dennis do home visits?gmt? Lounge 6mx3.2m with central arch, adjoins kitchen 5mx3.2m which adjoins family room 7m x 4m via a central opening. The two openings form a thoroughfare through the kitchen. I want them to work bette/link together, remove clutter, with some design and colour advice and furniture positioning suggestions. Lounges faces due west, family room faces due east and the kitchen has no window except for a small opening into the family room It is dark and the only other light it gets is from the two openings. The passage to the bedrooms runs off the kitchen and the laundry backs on to it also. Do I open up the wall between the kitchen and family room, move the sink and put a window in the south wall? or do I completely relocate the kitchen to the other side of the room and maybe incorporate the laundry area in this process? I find when family visit the men sit in the lounge area watching TV, women in the family room with children running back and forth and spreading toys etc. GMT
Painting my kitchen hot green....anyone know about interior design? I love bright colors. I want to paint my kitchen bright green. Kind of a lighter bright green...almost like the yahoo answers bars, haha! The problem is I don't know how to transition to the living room and hallway which attach to the kitchen. I don't want the entire house bright green...though I do love a bright, beachy, fun look all over the house. I need suggestions of how to make the whole house look good and bright and fun but not overwhelming. The kitchen is the biggest room in our small ranch style home. Help please!?! Pictures would really help me too~ I'm painting myself and plan on making a home depot trip today or tomorrow. Thanks for the help! Really, Luke? No green? This is the pic I was liking: http://www.lavenderlotusdesign.com/content/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/domino-green-kitchen.jpg
What is the difference between a 3D designer & an interior designer ? I am art and design student and mainly interesting 3d designs like modeling, light designs. I also love to design spaces. Before looking for HE course, I have searched some 3D & interior designer jobs but find surprising result. some industries asking for 3D designer who could handle software and some architectural industries asking for 3D kitchen designer but as you search about 3d and interior designing courses then description about them is totally different then jobs, means in 3D designing you will study ceramic and sculptural studies and in interior designing courses offering study about space. So the moment I am confuse between jobs and courses. Could any one help me please to understand difference between 3D designer and interior designer?
I need some designing tips on a new kitchen.? We are currently renovating our home with the major renovation being the kitchen. We chose maple cabinets with a coffee glaze and would like wood floors. I have not picked out countertops, I am very confused. Is there any rule as to what color counter tops and floors should be? Should I go light on the floors and counters, a dark color, a mixture? All the kitchens I see in the magazines look so well blended. I don't want to spend all this money and do a designer mess up. Any input will help ease my confusion.
Please answer....... if your good at interior design (all opinions welcome)? My fiance and I just purchased a house and we will be moving in by the summer. We are now in the process of picking out colours for hardwood flooring, carpet (upstairs), kitchen cabinets, kitchen counter, ceramic tiles in the kitchen, front foyer, 3 bathrooms and the laundry room. He thinks that the dark hardwood will make the rooms seem smaller (they are not small rooms) and wants to go with lighter colours with everything. I like dark hardwood and lighter tile with light kitchen cabinets. Does that sound like it would look good? I was also thinking of a black granite kitchen counter for contrast. yes/no?
What is the best low cost 3d home design software? I want realistic looking kitchens and baths. I'd like to be able to show skylights and lighting. Also, it has to be low cost. I mean, I don't want to spend thousands of dollars. It should be under $100 ideally.

Should I paint or refinish my kitchen cabinets? My kitchen is very small and "L" shaped. Right now I have the walls painted a sage green color, which I want to keep. My cabinets are plain with no wood designs or anything, and they're stained a very dark, walnut type of color. My floor is vinyl floor tiles in a light beige white marble kind of pattern. My appliances are bisque color. I'm wondering if I should paint my cabinets a cream color, or antique white color or if I should refinish and stain them a lighter wood color - like light oak. I'd rather restain, but I'm also wondering how long it would take to sand down to the natural wood color. Any help would be appreciated because I can't make up my mind.
How would I evaluate this experimental design? A student wanted to investigate the relationship between the amount of available light and growth of bean seedlings during a one week period. The student placed four identical seedlings in a sunny kitchen windowsill. She built a chickenwire frame around and over each seedling. On one frame she wrapped a layer of cheesecloth; on another she wrapped two layers of cheesecloth; on a third she wrapped three layers of cheesecloth and on the fourth four layers of cheesecloth. She measured the height of each seedling after a week to determine how much they had grown

I'm an interior design major in college (senior), but I can't make up my mind about my own house =/ I want semi-gloss so it's easier to clean & reflects light better, making it look brighter. I was thinking like a light slate blue, light sage green, or pale yellow. My husband and I like colors from nature... which actually defines a lot. But we like light, slate blues, sage green, browns & tans (as accent colors). We like leaves and flowers (not floral wallpaper & fabrics though-- yuck). The kitchen is next to the living room. We're doing all those colors in our living room. We have flat paint on the walls in our apartment now & the paint on the walls in the kitchen is a pain & the butt to clean! We WANT semi-gloss.

How do you think I should design my house? My mom's uncle recently just passed away this past November, and he left her first cousin all 9 of his property and houses, she's letting me get one. The one she's giving me is a large 2 bedroom 1 bath house, it has a huge front yard and also a huge backyard, and have no drive way. She's told me it's up to me to design it however I want to design it. So this is what I had in mind. Front yard - Bermuda Grass, brick walkway with lights (http://brickpaversnewjersey.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/brick_paver_walkway_with_lighting-300x225.jpg) connecting from the drive way to the steps House exterior - paint the house a kind off white Front Porch - it's a screen porch but I'm planning to replace it with glass Living Room Design - White ceramic tiles, white walls and ceiling, 9 inner ceiling lights (6 for each corner, 3 extras ones to fill in gaps), 1 ceiling fan in the middle with white blades Furniture - black leather sectional, black leather recliner, glass top metal coffee table with 2 matching glass top metal end tables, large black rug to in center of room both bedrooms - white walls and light grey carpet Bathroom - haven't thought about it Kitchen - black wood cabinets with white marble top, I using the same ceramic tiles throughout the house except the bedrooms, large fluorescent ceiling light Back yard - I'm planning to removed the back step, and build a deck, I'm still kind of iffy if want to build a swimming pool I'm 26, no kids, 2 cars, own small business, what do you think will make the perfect home I'm planning to live in it myself
What are good colors with a green? Interior design? I want to paint my kitchen with a bright green, but I don;t want to over do it, my house theme is nature, and trees, anyway my great room is a light beige with some green paintings and I have high ceilings and the celling is a red/orange it really works well sense the celling are very high, and the trim is a dark brown wood stain. But I have a problem my house is very open with a few walls that define spaces but it flows nicely and open, but I don't want to use one color for the whole level, so I thought about painting the Kitchen a light green that is in a large picture in the great room. I also have a smallish living room that is sperate from the great room, but close to the kitchen, it is not one room together but you can see the rooms together. I don't want to paint the living room green too, what would be good colors? Other suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thank you.
Why are there never lights in the living room of a home? My wife and I recently began looking for a new house to purchase because our current home is too small. One of the things we noticed was there are never any light fixtures in the living rooms. Is there a reason for this design? I think one house we saw had a light in the living room, every other room has a light, bathroom, bedroom, dining room, kitchen. Whats the deal??
i was trying to design a new fan for a hover home.? earth quake proof homes( the hover homes) , they hover the fan Designs were using electromagnetic electro levitation train tracks the worlds smallest of coarse, with 4 of the worlds smallest cargo levitating cars placed on top the cars was the fan made out of the lightest metal i could find so this fan became the worlds first electromagnetic levitating fans ever built any where in the world, there were 3 fans & were all 120 volt or 220 volt Single ot three phase alternating current gfi protected of coarse. signal were sent from the quake detection centers ,and the bells and whistles would start to sound as a safe gard then rapidly go in to the hover mode and the home would hover off the ground no damage possible for the earth quakes shaking ,and after the quake if there were damage the homes could be hovered out off the slab for the needed repairs then hovered right back on over the new slab of concrete and set to rest on the new undamaged foundations. still working on the drawings, what do you think pretty good idea.i took 3 hover homes and bi-leveled them on a plot as to make more square footage on opp ed as the master bed room and master bath the other the second and 3 bed rooms and the 3 rd as the living kitchen dinning rooms.nice DESIGN if they were available would think they would sell or would you buy one,if you lived in an earth quake area, for the first time ever a home that was 25% machine and 75% home and earth quake resistant. proof better than pre manufactured mobile homes. all of the utility service lines made simple connection on the out side like a Mobile home water sewer gas electric and plenty of flexing movement for the hover mode.upward.that's all they di no Navigation capabilities . air pressure from the fans.but they are electromagnetic levitating fans the huge fans are sitting on the cargo trains spinning at about 550 mph the fans in my drawing are about 25 foot radius like a very big open faced motor. spinning the huge fans. the home has safety rail in the home bath rooms tubs by door ways to hold on to there has to be some training involved of coarse as what to do when it is going in to the hover mode like sit on the floor as soon as possible or hold on to the nearest provided hand rails ,for false signals there can be sensors at the lot location in the ground .etc.
what color should I paint my new Kitchen? My boyfriend and I are turning his parents basement into our own apartment. the kitchen is very small and not a lot of natural light coming through. I want something bright, but not annoying and something that will make the kitchen appear bigger. I was thinking this color: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://blog.regardingkitchens.com/files/2010/06/kitchen-paint-yellow.jpeg&imgrefurl=http://blog.regardingkitchens.com/kitchen-design/kitchen-colors-to-dye-for/&usg=__tF0lG6wl3v74Nf9z5r7Vk_GXQdg=&h=330&w=526&sz=48&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=vsBtf3aYXVf5cM:&tbnh=145&tbnw=208&ei=98RZTfHcIMH88AbgwbW1Bw&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dkitchen%2Bpaint%2Bcolors%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DX%26rls%3Den-us%26biw%3D1267%26bih%3D621%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=359&vpy=135&dur=411&hovh=156&hovw=249&tx=63&ty=66&oei=LcRZTb79JIW3tgerr7CICw&page=1&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0 What r ur suggestions?
I have $30,000 I plan to spend on updating my home. Will it be enough? Will $30,000 be enough to update my 1,650 square foot home with the following: Porcelain tiles in the bath, dining, entry way and kitchen New bathtubs, sliding doors and travertine tile design New mirrors New faucets Prefabricated granite counter tops for bathrooms Medicine cabines All new doors Tankless water heater Minimal drywall repair Closet mirror door Granite kitchen counter New kitchen cabinets New hardware Remove wall and add support beam New sink Backsplash New recessed lighting. What do you think?
Solution for placing chandelier over kitchen table? I own a condo, and have a unit above mine (therefore no attic). I currently have a ceiling fan in my dining area which is not where I want it. I want to replace the fan with a pendant ceiling light, however I will also need to move it about 2 feet. Now, it seems like I could keep the existing electrical box and cover it wth a place, and run a chain/wire, and place a hook in the ceiling directly above the kitchen table. The problem is that every light that I like comes on a rod, not a chain. And when I search for chandeliers, all I find are huge, ugly, expensive ones. Is there something I'm missing? I'd love an urban / modern / contemporary looking light that's a simple design, nickle color, that I can hang from a chain. Is there a way to position a pendant light on a rod, in the way that I want? Or is there a way to convert a pendant to a chain? Here's one I like: http://www.lampsplus.com/Products/Chandeliers/Style_Contemporary/page_2/13922/ Another light I like: http://www.lampsplus.com/Products/Chandeliers/Style_Contemporary/page_3/28262/ Below, gauth suggests to hang the light from the pendant rod using a hook. However, the pendant rods have a plate at the top, don't they? Do pendant rods somehow have a way to attach them to a hook?
Any advice on how to make a terriarium for a tabletop? I would like to make a terriarium to place on my kitchen table. It will get alot of light. Any suggestions on how to make a terriarium? What plants work best? Where can I get an interesting container or ideas for design?
Creative Ways to Decorate 676 sq. ft apartment? SMALL KITCHEN Problem.? I am moving from a small (535 sq. ft) to a seemingly much much bigger 676 sq. ft. apartment this month. I am moving from second floor to third, so I will have vaulted ceilings. I am allowed to paint, and I really want to. I wanted to know of a forum or any ideas that I could get from other people for general ideas of using color, or fun interior design ideas. I love bright colors, but what colors are the easiest to paint back over with creme? Also, what can I do with lighting and such now that I will have vaulted ceilings? I also have a VERY small galley style kitchen still. Like, I can't open my closet door and fridge at the same time they are so close. I love DIY, so any creative ideas that I can make would be great!! Thanks so much! :)
Interior design - can I use light wood and dark wood together? I live in a fairly new flat. Most of the furnishings are light wood (light beech) including all doors, kitchen cabinets, hallway flooring. I've recently bought dark wood (chocolate) blinds for the living room and tv cabinet. Can I mix the two colours in the living room? I don't want to overwhelm the living room with too many dark furniture pieces and I also want to try and tie it into the rest of the flat. Is light wood mixed with dark wood a big no, no - or can I pull this off somehow? I was thinking of perhaps getting a beech coloured coffee table and a few beech shelves? Advice appreciated!!
Opinions on trim color for finishing basement? I am finishing my basement in a more modern design with a home theater, exercise room, kitchen, an extra bedroom, office space, a wine cellar and large open game room. I am considering painting the trim black, and possibly painting or staining the doors a different color, like dk. brown. The color scheme is going to be brighter colors like kiwi green, reds and cobalt blue. The rest of the house is transitional in design with white trim and doors. I have 9' ceilings and 4 windows with several transoms of glass and glass doors to let light in, so I am not really worried about it being too dark. The flooring I have chosen for the theater is a red/geometric print, cork for the wine cellar and neutral white/brown/tan 24" tile with stainless steel accent bars. I would like to know if anyone has seen or done black trim and their opinions on it. Thanks.
Need your help with kitchen redecorating! :)? I have an older, character home. Kitchen has high ceiling with tall, white cabinets which I like. I will replace the 80's chunky, light gray porcelain handles with stainless steel bar pulls (I like a modern look). Walls are light gray with chair rail. trim is a bit darker (like regular gray) and floor is gray and white marble design linoleum. Counter top is light gray. Back splash tile is light gray with the occasional wine coloured tile. I have a sharp looking black ceiling fan with halogen lights, a black topped stove, a funky black chair and some black small appliances. I will buy a black fridge when all the painting is done. Ok.. now the questions: 1. If I keep the walls light gray, should I go lighter or darker with the trim? White trim or a darker gray? Should I keep the walls pale gray? 2. I need suggestions for colors for the ceramic tile floor. 3. Suggestions for a new counter top if I have money leftover? Any other comments you'd like to make would be super appreciated!! Thanks!! dee

Need advice on Kitchen Table? I just moved and I'm working on decorating my house, but I'm having a really hard time deciding on what to do for a kitchen table. The way the room is designed is so that there is one space, about 36 ft. long providing the kitchen, area for a kitchen table and then the family room. The only thing that divides the kitchen area from the family room is the fact that the kitchen has tile and the family room has carpet. Now, the problem is that in my kitchen I have a lighter colored maple cabinet, I believe it is often referred to as honey, but I'm not positive. When I was decorating for the family room I knew that I wanted a large media center to house my tv and other things. The only color I could find them in, other than oak (which wouldn't have worked with the style I have) was a dark cherry. So, no I'm very concerned about being able to make the transition from the kitchen table to the family room media center and somehow getting the table to work with both rooms. The only thing I have thought of was a glass table. The only problem is that I can only find glass tables in round sizes instead of rectangle, which I'm not sure if it would work right. The kitchen itself is about 18 ft. long and the area where the table would sit is about 10ft. 8in. I went searching last weekend and I found one table that I think may work: http://www.kanesfurniture.com/furnituredetail.aspx?CategoryID=95&PackageID=28811 I liked the look of the table and I also like that I can get matching bar stools. The bar sets in the same area as the table, so I'd like to get them to match as well if I can. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you need any other info about the room, setup, colors, etc. just let me know and I can get anything. Thanks so much! Thanks for your reply: My colors are: Paint: Beige Countertops: Beige: http://www.silestoneusa.com/colors/colors.cfm?ColorID=29 Carpets: Beige Tiles: Kind of an orange and teracota color, chosen to match the maple cupboards. I looked at some of the cherry tables when I was at some furniture styles and the only concern is that the cherry won't look right since it would be right next to my maple cupboards. The kitchen is in eat in style kitchen, so the table would be closest to the maple cupboards and the dark cherry media center would be about 10ft. away or so. I'm not looking for anything too fancy, just something that would tie the rooms together and look nice. Thanks again!
What are the upgrades that I MUST have when buying a new home? we are beginning to design our new home an are overwhelmed by the upgrades that are available.. they all seem necessary, but which one's should we absolutely have because it will become a hassle and more expensive in the future... These upgrades are things like wood flooring, ceramic flooring in the kitchen and bath, french doors, pot lights, staircase choice of wood..etc. I'm having a hard time deciding.... thanks in advance :)
What is a poorly designed house mean? Livng space? Heating efficiecncy? Size? I can't seem to find it anywhere My house is very old. It was built in 1900. The wall ''slats' are so old and dry that the kitchen light won't even stay up. It came off once and the electrician came and put it back up. He said to be careful not to pull the chan to hard or it may come off again. We supplement with wood as it takes 100 gal of oil per year.4 bedrooms only 1 of decent size. All others are very small. Mine is 8ft by 9ft as best I can measure. It has knob and tube wiring in the walls. A few years back we added insualtion. (We didn't realize what we were doing) but the electrician said to make sure the smoke detector was working and we should be ok.Most of my appliances (toaster, coffee pot, ect) I have to be careful which electrical outlet I use, or it will blow a fuse. Some things will work in one outlet better than others. It seems to get tired of working so I have to keep moving things around. My roof leaks. I just had it patched a month ago too, and now it leaks in a differnt spot. On the 'poorly desinged house' question I meant to say it takes one thousand gal of oil per Maine winter not a hundred. (Spelling error) I also spelled chain wrong. I mean to say that we have to be careful not to pull the kithcen light CHAIN too hard or it will come down.
Colour advice for VERY dark kitchen? Looks like I've been lumbered with coming up with ideas for mum's kitchen, this happens every year as soon as I get a break from uni she expects me to pretty much single-handidly design & paint a room :-S, I usually don't mind but the kitchen really has me stumped. Dad chose the most old fashioned style, darkest wood possible for the cupboards, I googled & found a similar style & colour http://www.duraoak.net/assets/images/Dales-Dallas-Kitchen02.jpg Changing the cupboards is not possibe so we have to brighten the room with the paint & accesories alone, aside from the dark wood, our kitchen is pretty much devoid of all light, the sun shines through every other window in the house but just avoids it, even though the kitchen is a good size the dullness makes it seem smaller. So any ideas on colour & light, from you lovely creative people on answers would be v. much appreciated.
DOC II by Cherokee nursing shoes. Where to buy in Sydney? Hi!! Anyone knows where I can buy DOC II by Cherokee nursing shoes in Sydney? Please do not mix them with DOC Marten shoes.. The shoes I want to buy are made from rubber, super light and designed for nurses or kitchen chefs. I would really appreciate if somebody will give any advise.
I hate my house! Do you? old, ugly, lead paint, asbestos, laid out wrong, kitchen needs more cabinets and counter space, old, nasty bathroom, no closets, small closets, no sunlight, no drafts for nice windy days, no ceiling lights, bad lighting design, over 70 years old, mosquitos, swamp, mice, big roaches from time to time, small ones too, gnats, small, dark, etc
Installing horizontal windows above kitchen cabinets? We're in the intial process of designing/updating our kitchen. In addition to new granite countertops, natural stone tile backsplashes and refacing cabinets, we're considering options to bring in more natural light. Vaulting the ceiling and installing skylights is one possible alternative, but a less expensive option may be installing horizontal windows above the existing kitchen cabinets. While we've seen this done in new homes to good effect, its been difficult to find examples of it done as a remodel option. Does anyone have experience with this or know if its a feasible option? For reference, there is 26" of vertical space between the top of the cabinet molding and the kitchen ceiling.
What color should I paint my dark wood veneer cabinets? Just moved in and need to do a quick fix while we get the funds to redo our kitchen. The floor is an ugly light yellow linoleum and the counter tops are a light tannish color. The appliances are black and the wall paper is white with little fruit designs in it consisting of green leaves, golden pears, and purple grapes. I have NO CLUE what color to pain the cabinets! I feel like white will completely wash out the rest of the room since everything else is light (except the appliances).
design question? I'm remodeling my kitchen, the walls are going to be a light blue almost gray, with white trim. black marble looking countertops, wood cabinets and, my floor is going to be laminant, tan almost rustic looking tile. My furniture is rod iron and wood. Any hints on if im going the right direction?.
For interior designers: mixing woods? i have to do a scholarship project for interior design, i need to design an entire home and i have been sticking with light floors throughout the house but both bedrooms have dark wood, bathroom has cherry on window frames, living room has dark wood like the bedrooms, and the dining room and kitchen cabinets have light wood. is it okay to have different wood colors for different rooms? or should it be the same throughout the house. if it helps, im trying to use all eco friendly material. thanks

please read this story i wrote. By a 6th grader? Hollywood Troubles “Hhhhh, Julia sighed. It’s just another day, another ordinary day” Julia Lintheart was staring out her window, looking at the warm summer day. There were blue skies, green grass, you’d think it be perfect. But no. She was in a dismal mood. “Why should I be the only one not having fun? She thought to herself. “It’s just not fair”. Julia sighed once again as she stroked her long brown hair that draped around her right shoulder with her soft, pale hands. Julia was mad because she was the only one who hadn’t done adventurous over the summer. Time was running out only 3 weeks before the 9th grade. She had to something that she could remember the 8th grade summer by and something everyone else would remember her, Julia, by. Julia went downstairs into the kitchen of her medium sized home. The kitchen was a light tan color, with oak wood cabinets. There was a stainless steel oven, dishwasher and microwave. Her mother was loading dishes into the dishwasher as she came downstairs. “Well, we have to go pick up your little sister Rose from her friend, Lavender’s house”, her mother replied holding a white plate. “Do I have to come? Why can’t I say home with Dad? Er, wait Dad’s never home”, Julia said in a quiet tone, “He’s always on some tour, I just keep forgetting. “ As a rookie film producer he is very busy, but he’s quite good at it. He seems to have a knack for it. “I know, but it’s been two whole months. Sometimes I just wish he could come home. “We all do, Jules”, he mother said wiping her hands on the white towel. Was this remark supposed to make her feel better? Because she didn’t feel any better. In fact she felt sadder. ”Anyway, Julia you have to come.” “Why can’t I stay home? I’m old enough”, Julia inquired. “I know Julia but you have to go shopping you need clothes for fall. In case you are wondering Julia had already bought clothes for the winter last week. Julia wanted to roll her blue eyes but kept herself from doing so. Instead she said “whats wrong with the clothes I have”, glancing down at her dark blue jeans and her ABERCROMBIE t-shirt. Almost instantaneously her obsessive-shopping mother answered. “Your jeans are ripped, they’re too old and--- Julia cut her mother off. “Old. What do you mean old! 3 weeks ago, that’s old”! “Julia you are going shopping and that’s final”, her mother replied in a stern voice. Julia groaned. “When are we going?” “Half an hour” she answered. Julia went back up the spiral stair case and into her bedroom. Her bedroom was a light blue color. There was a twin sized bedroom that was right in the middle of her room. She walked on the soft carpet of her bedroom. She layed on her tootsie roll pillow. A raindrop fell on her window. It started to sprinkle outside. The blue skies turned gray. Julia didn’t know what to do. “Jules come on 1et’s go”, her mother called putting on her black trench coat. Julia dragged her feet down the steps. She went to the entrance hall of her home. She put her tennis shoes on and grabbed the black umbrella. Julia and her mother walked out the front door , and hopped into the silver minivan. Her mother backed out of the drive way. “Julia?” Her mother asked. “Yeah”, she answered. Mrs. Lintheart took a deep breath. “I-I just got off the”, she faltered. How do I put this nicely”? Julia, I just got off the phone with dad. We’re moving”. ~CHAPTER 2~ A million questions raced through her mind. Where are we moving? When are leaving? Why are we going? What are my friends going to think? “I’m sorry”, Mrs. Lintheart said apologetically. Julia didn’t know why he mother was so sorry. She wasn’t so mad herself. “Should I be mad”? She asked her mother. “No. Not at all, I just didn’t know how you were going to react”, she answered turning around a curb. “Where are we going?” Julia asked rather excited. “Hollywood”, her mother replied. Julia’s eyes widened and her jaw dropped. “What did you say?” “Well”, Mrs. Lintheart started. Your father has a role opening, and he needs a girl about your age. If you get it were staying at least till the movie is over. If you don’t we’re going to keep your father company. At this point Julia stopped listening. She didn’t need to be told anything more. She knew where this conversation was going. “So does this mean I get to be a star”? She asked being her curious self. “Actually no. You have to complete the auditions first.” She said adjusting her rearview mirror. Julia was a bit disappointed but was determined. They pulled into a driveway. “Oh and Jules, it’s best not to tell Rose about this”. The rain fell harder by the second. Julia sighed once again, but this time a good sigh. A sigh that meant I’m ready. Ready to be a star. She could picture herself. A millionaire, being pampered, and having the best life ever. Julia opened the car door. She opened the umbrella. They walked up the long driveway and rang the doorbell. Ding-Dong. A tall looking mother opened the door. Julia gaped at the sight of the house. From the outside you’d think it was a normal house, but it wasn’t. The foyer was huge. It had a ceiling so high it seemed like it was endless. There was a bright chandelier that came down almost blinding to the naked eye. The walls had a light gold design. “Oh my”, the tall women said pointing to the window. “It looks terrible out there”. “I know some weather”, Julia’s mother agreed. “Mom, mom, mom”, came Lavendar, Rose’s best friend. “Can Rose stay a bit longer?” “Only if it’s O.K with Rose’s mother”, Lavendar’s mother said with a chuckle. Julia glanced up at her mothers and gave her one of her I-don’t-want-to-stay-at-a-6 year old-house looks. Mrs. Lintheart patted Julia on her shoulder and smiled. One of her only-for-tonight-smiles. Perfect, Julia thought. I am wasting my time at a 6 year olds house. As Lavendar and Rose chatted away Mrs. Anderson (Lavendar’s mom) offered Julia and her mother some tea or coffee. They both politely refused by saying “no thank you”. The 3 went into the living room. Julia had already adjusted to the Anderson’s immense house but that did not change the fact that it was huge. In the living room the walls were a deep reddish-maroon color. There was a 72 inch plasma screen that stood there ready to be used. “Why don’t you have a seat”, Mrs. Anderson told Julia. “oh wait, would you rather go to home theater?” Julia smiled. “Oh that won’t be necessary”, Julia’s mother answering for her. Julia reluctantly gave a slight nod of her head. “Mom, why would you say something like that? Of course, I would rather watch a movie than listen to adults talk, she thought to herself. Julia was mad at her mother. “Oh well, she while thinking of all her unanswered questions. At 6:30 pm Julia’s mother decided that it was time to go home. “Lavendar, Rose” Mrs. Anderson called from the bottom of the deep blue colored carpet. They came sprinting down the steps. “Mommy”, I don’t want Rose to leave, Lavendar whined. “I’m afraid they’ve got to”, Mrs. Anderson said. She opened the door. By this time it was raining very hard. BOOM, they heard thunder. They saw a flash it was lightening. “Whoa”, Rose said. “It doesn’t seem to safe out there, you’re welcome to stay with us for the night”, Mrs. Anderson offered. “OH thank you we don’t have much of a choice, really” Mrs. Lintheart said. Julia couldn’t believe her ears. Was this really happening? No. No way. Not if she could help it. Julia gave her mother another one of her “looks”. Her mother gave her one of her “smiles”. “Only for tonight”, she added just in case Julia couldn’t understand her smile. “Ughhhhhh”, Julia thought in her mind. All this time Julia was trying to focus on the positive. O.k. I said trying. Lavendar was talking to Rose about how they have so many rooms, so they could sleep. The five went to the living room and turned the 72 inch television on to the weather channel. “We are looking at severe thunderstorms throughout the Chicago area”, the reporter announced. Julia would rather walk home in the rain than stay. She went upstairs with the adults and overheard that Rose would be sleeping in Lavendar’s bedroom and Julia and her mother would be staying in one of the three guest bedrooms. Mrs. Anderson showed them there room. It was like all the other rooms. Big. As you have probably comprehended by now Julia must dread in despair through the night. Fine. O.K. Well, I guess it’s not that bad. Unfortunately it doesn’t matter ehat you and I think, it’s up to Julia. I just write it down. They went back down stairs. “Oh dear”, Mrs. Anderson said looking directly at Rose. You must be starving. Do you want to eat something? “No, I’m not hungry; Rose replied in her high pitched voice, I want to play with Lavendar. Lavendar followed by Rose then Julia, and then the adults into the playroom. The playroom had a mini ball pit, a play slide, and lots of books mainly fairy tales. Ii also had pink and white striped walls. The grown-ups laughed and smiled. Suddenly the lights went out. It was pitch black. ~CHAPTER 3~ Mrs. Anderson could find her path through the criss-crossing hallway, down the steps, and into the room that contained the flashlight. She pressed the on button and a yellow beam of color shot out. The silver flashlight illuminated everything in its way. Anita Anderson walked up the steps, back through the criss-crossing, and into the playroom. As she entered the playroom she noticed two little bodies curled up on the play mats. Their eyes were shut tight and you could hear snoring. Mrs. Lintheart whispered something into Mrs. Anderson’s ear. Instantaneously, Anita walked out of the room and then came back in. Her arms were full of multi-colored sleeping bags. Julia was furious at once but kept her anger to herself. She wanted to atleast sleep on the bed. Julia’s mother helped unroll each of the five different color sleeping bags. Julia slipped into her red one , taking off her sweatshirt and placing it beside her. Julia had to admit she was a bit tired, although it was only 15 past eight. She closed her eyes, adjusted her pillow, and fell off into a deep sleep. She dreamt of pleasant dreams. “Hollywood”, she quietly murmured in her sleep. She was picturing herself getting the part, becoming a millionaire…you get the rest. The rest of her dreams were put to an end by the voice of her mother. “Juls”, she said quietly standing next to Julia. Time to get up” Julia rubbed her eyes, and stretched her legs as she sat up straight in her “bag”. She walked out yawning. She rolled it up into a neat ball. Julia realized that there were four empty sleeping bags beside her. She picked up her sleeping bag and followed her mother downstairs. She was to drowsy to speak. Lavendar and Rose were making a loud din chasing each other around the kitchen. Julia could smell the aroma of fresh blueberry pancakes being made. Julia loved pancakes. She sat down at the large maple wood table as two pancakes were placed in front of her. She was starving so she devoured them, but in a neat way. * * * * * * * * * ~Later that evening~ Julia had gotten back to her home. Julia was wondering what the auditions were going to be like and what she had to do to get the part. “Briing, briiiing”, the phone rang. She ran into the master bedroom and picked up the black phone. “Hello”, Julia called into the phone. “Juls, is that you?”, her dad asked “Yeah it’s me”, she said puzzled. “Who are you”? “Your daddy”, her dad replied. Julia gasped at these words. She couldn’t even recognize he fathers voice. He was touring Spain for ideas. “ Hi”. “ Honey, your just the person I wanted to talk to. I bet your mother has already told you about”, he paused. “Hollywood”, Julia finished for him squirming with joy. Her dad took a deep breath. “Um er about that, we need a girl for the part”, he started talking faster as he went along. Youre perfect for the part. I asked the producer and he said maybe. He aslso said that me being the director can’t do with anything with you getting the part. Anyway, you still have to audition a couple of lines. There aren’t many people competing for it. 16 including you to be exact. But you don’t have to move to Hollywood, you don’t even have to try out for the part if you don’t want to. “Dad, Julia started. I want to do everything you just mentioned. I want to move, get the part and become rich.“Just one question. What’s it about?” “Ah”, can’t tell you. “Huh”?, Julia asked baffled. “Show biz policy. You have exactly 24 hours to rehearse for the auditions. Julia gawked. “ So you are saying that I have 1 day practice”? “That’s right”, he answered casually. Then everything got quiet. A mysterious quiet. A chilling quiet. “Julia”, he whispered. Then he hung up. ~CHAPTER 4~ Julia pressed the round black button to off the phone. “What was that all about”? she wondered. She had so much to get ready for. Could she do it? Julia had no idea what the movie was about. Julia walked into the family room. It had two beige colored couches and a T.Vimon. She found Rose watching Bob the Builder. IT had just started so the theme song was playing. “Bob the Builder. Can he fix it? The T.V yelled. “Bob the builder. Yes he can!! Rose chimed in. “Rose, can I please watch now”? Julia asked as she turned her head away from the obnoxious show. “Nope”, Rose replied with her eyes still glue to the television. Julia didn’t bother arguing with her younger sister. So, she went upstairs to her bedroom and got out her pink cell phone. She called her two best friends Ally, and Nicole cell. Ally is a long haired blonde who loved nothing more than a good old adventure. Julia and Ally were alike because they both liked an adventure, but Ally was far more daring. I guess you could call her a risk taker. “Hey ally”, Julia called into the phone “ It’s Julia”. “Oh hey” Ally said. “Over the last few days I heard really big news. You know how my dad’s a film director and all”, Julia asked. “Yeah”, Ally replied wondering why her best friend was telling her something she already knew. “They have a part open, and I’m auditioning”, Julia squeaked. The two of them screamed with excitement. “When are you going”? Ally asked unable control her curiosity. “3 weeks, I could try to invite you. If you’d like”, she added. There was a slight pause in which Ally was thinking. Thinking about the “movie”. Was this really going to happen? “3 weeks”, she repeated. You do know what’s happening in 3 weeks, right? Julia was stunned. Here she was telling Ally the best news of her life so far but all she could about was school! “School, so”, Julia asked. “I can’t skip school”, Ally said rather mean. “I’m sorry, I am not trying to brag or anything”, Julia said. “I know”, Ally said back in her soft voice. “Bye”, Julia said. “Bye”, Ally said. Julia lied against her tootsie roll pillow. She looked out of her window. There was little light still shinning through them. Julia called Nicole. Nicole was the least adventurous. Unlike Julia and Ally, Nicole preferred to be “out of danger”. She liked adventures but if there was a slim chance of her getting in trouble she was out. Somehow she had always been dragged along. She was ind of short compared to the others, and had short brown hair. They continued their conversation for a while. This time it had gone much smoother. ~CHAPTER 5~ Days turned into weeks of boredom. One week until the big move. Ally invited Nicole and Julia over to her house. They greeted each other at the crisp white door. They went to Ally’s room. IT was messy. Clothes were on the ground along with her CD’s of her favorite bands: Daughtry and Maroon 5. There were school books scattered here and there. IN conclusion it was messy. Ally cleared a spot on the colorful bed and motioned for the two of them to sit down. “So Juls” Nicole started. “When’s the audition”? “One week”, Julia said. Nicole and Ally looked at each other and nodded their heads. “What”? Julia asked. “ We are going to get you ready for the movie in case you get the part”, Ally said. “We are? Nicole asked. What about the other thing”? “What other thing”, Julia said with a confused look on her face. “ We can do that later”, Ally suggested ignoring Julia’s question. Ally is more of a tomboy as you probably have figured out by now. After you read what’s next you will be surprised. “Wear these”, Ally told holding out a pair of silver sparkly high heels. “Why do I need these”, Julia said scared. Not a scared-scared but a scared-to-wear-high-heels-shoes-scared. “ Are you sure we won’t get in trouble, because I doubt those are your shoes, no offense Ally”, Nicole asked being her worried self. “Relax”, Ally said ignoring Julia’s question once again. Julia put the shoes on her feet. She started to wobble. She took two steps without falling and the third she fell to the ground with a thunk. “Ow”, Julia yelled. She had twisted her ankle. It wasn’t that bad but it still hurt. “Bad idea. Are you O.K? ” ally asked. “I knew something like this was going to happen. Are you O.K Juls? I am sooooooooo sorry. Nicole started to mumbled a few more words. “I’m fine”, Julia lied because it still hurt but her worrying friend went on. Ally apologized to Julia for making her wear the high heels although Julia knew that it was the clothes on the messy floor that made her trip not the shoes. * * * * * * * * One week had gone by like that. Back at the Lintheart’s Rose was throwing a fit after Mrs. Lintheheart explained where and why they were moving. “It’s not fair. It’s not fair at all. Why does she get everything she wants? It’s not fair”, Rose pouted stomping her tiny feet on the ground. “Now Rose be patient, her mother started, you’ll get turn. “I don’t want to be patient”, Rose said angrily. Julia came downstairs with her suitcase. They had packed earlier and were on there way. They piled into the silver minivan. When they arrived at the airport they waited. If you have a younger sibling and are going somewhere you probably know how it is. They create a scene, then a million pair of eyes look your way and well, you get humiliated. That’s exactly what Rose did. So I am not going to waste my time and your time describing the humiliation of Julia. They boarded the plane. The plane was quite small, but it had comfortable seats. The windows were shaped rectangles. Rose got the window seat, her mother was in the middle, and Julia got the aisle seat. As soon as Julia sat down she fell asleep. “Jules”, Mrs. Lintheart whispered. Julia’s eyes slightly opened then closed again. “Jules”, Mrs. Lintheart said a little louder. Nothing. “JULIA”, Rose screamed at the top of her lungs. Julia abruptly opened her eyes. She looked around the rest of the plane was empty. “We’re here, Mrs. Lintheart announced, in Hollywood”. ~CHAPTER 7~ They checked their luggage in. The people there were all very well-dressed. IT was mainly adults who were walking through the long lines. “Right outside this airport is Hollywood”, Julia whispered to Rose. “Just a few more minutes, Julia, Mrs. Lintheart explained. Then we will go by taxi to our hotel. “What’s our hotel like”? Rose asked her mother. Well, it’s called Hollywood Orchid Suites. It’s not too fancy but it is expensive, her mother replied as the three of them walked towards the door. We have been given the deluxe suite. Julia wasn’t listening she kept walking with her eyes focused on the door. Julia swung it open. There was a giant hill with HOLLYWOOD printed on it in big white letters. All three of the faces smiled. There was also a busy road making not too hard to find a taxi cab. They hopped in the bright yellow cab. “Where to”? The cab driver asked in his deep-commercial-like voice. “The Hollywood Orchid Suite”, Rose said in her high pitched voice answering for her mother. He driver dropped them off and waved goodbye. Mrs. Lintheart led the way inside while Rose took her time skipping and twirling in her ridiculously pink blouse and her pink sparkly shirt to match. They walked into the lobby. “ Who might you be”, the guy behind the counter asked Rose. “My name is Rose Lintheart”, Rose answered. “Lintheart eh”, the guy behind the counter said as he started to type something in the computer. “Ah yes, you will be staying in suite #339. Enjoy your stay”, he added as they started to walk away. Julia twisted the knob of suite #339. It wouldn’t budge. “You have to use the key card silly”, Rose said twirling. Julia didn’t remember Rose getting the key card from the guy behind the counter. Anyway, Julia slid the card inside and waited for the small green light to come up. She opened the door and walked inside. The room was cool. Two king sized beds, two T.V’s and a bathroom. On one of the beds they found a note. Julia read it aloud. Dear Julia Lintheart, We would like to inform you that your audition will take place tomorrow at Hollywood Studios. Be there no later than 12:00 pm. Your lines are attached to this note. Good Luck. “What else does it say?” Mrs. Lintheart asked. Your Lines You: Mom I’m bored. (say in a whiny voice) Mom: We have to go pick up your sister then go to the mall. You: Again? I hate going there. Mom: We need clothes for fall. You: Don’t I need clothes for winter first? Mom: We got those last week. Julia practiced with her mother. She stumble on every other word. “What was that”, Rose said being mean. Julia shot her a nasty look. “I’m just saying, Rose continued, that you acted better at Lavendar’s house”. “What are you talking about”? Julia asked, as if Rose was crazy. “You acted as if you hated going to Lavendar’s house when you enjoyed it. You pretended to be mad but you had nothing better to do. Julia knew that she was partially correct. Fine, Julia knew she was a hundred percent correct, but she still acted like Rose was crazy. “Why don’t you try again, Julia”, Mrs. Lintheart said trying to break the tension between the two sisters. Julia tried again and got it almost perfect. “What’s this”, Rose said pointing to the piece of paper with the lines on it. Julia took the piece of paper out of Rose’s hands. She looked at it carefully, there was another verse of lines. Do I have to recite these lines too, she thought to herself. The lines were sad. They were about girl who finds her long lost mother. “Let’s practice these too”, Julia told her mother. They practiced. There was crying scene that Julia just couldn’t get right. “Try thinking of something sad”, Rose said. Julia took this advice. She thought and thought but couldn’t find anything sad. Julia finally got something from her own life. Her dad. It seemed so long since Julia had seen him. Tears welled up in her eyes. “Mom, when will we see dad”? “If you get the part soon enough, if you don’t we could still visit him on set, but we’d have to notify him first”. Julia had a mission. The same mission as before (to get the part) but for a different reason. She longed to see her father. ~CHAPTER 8~ She slept through the night. She was ready, only half an hour till auditions. She was given an outfit to wear (provided by Hollywood Studios). It was a light blue baby doll top with black leggings. The lobby was big and grand. I do not know how to describe it other than the simple words big and grand. They went through the double doors and outside. They fetched a cab and rode on the busy streets of Hollywood. They pulled into the parking lot of Hollywood Studio. They walked inside and saw 15 other girls waiting to audition. Since she was the last audition, she saw some girls coming out crying, and others expressionless. It had black floors and there were three judges. There was also a person next to her that acted like the mom. The judges explained that she could choose either of the two verses to audition. Julia considered this thought very carefully. At the end she decided that she would choose the mall one because she practiced it more and she could relate to it better. Julia had butterflies in her stomach. She spoke clearly, and said the words with emotion. Julia felt a bit better. She thought that she had nailed the audition, but only time would tell if she got the part. She waited in the room along with the other girls. She was nervous. The main judge came out. He cleared his throat, “The winner who gets the part is Julia Lintheart.” Julia gasped. “Me”, Julia said scarcely believing what she just heard. Julia ran over her mother and gave her a hug. “Rose, thanks for your advice it really worked, and I knew you were right all along”, Julia told her sister. Julia felt like this was too good to be true. She had accomplished her mission, but still so many unanswered questions. Little did Julia realize that this was only the beginning.
Can I have a kitchen with a black floor AND units? We're going to rip out our kitchen and put in a new one. We like the sound of black floor tiles (large slate, riven not smooth), and black gloss units with a dark wood worktop (say, a Walnut colour). We were originally thinking of a black granite worktop, but once we started thinking of black units we thought: enough black! To counter the darkness we thought light walls and a light blue glass splash back, with lights under the plinth at floor level for a little accent and to light the dark corners. I haven't seen many/any pictures of kitchens with a black floor AND black units. Often people use white units to contrast, but I'm not feeling the monochrome that much. Would the black/black/wood work? Is it a design dead-end?

Design Question - Brown Throw Rug on Off-White Berber Carpet? Hi there, I bought a v modern condo, most everything is off-white (carpet, paint) with black kitchen applicances. Found a dark brown wool rug on sale at Pier One for dirt cheap so I lugged it home. i like earth tone colors but wonder if y'all think that a solid throw rug on white carpet is too strong contrast. i only have two soft lime green bucket chairs, a subdued red japanese trunk with a gold monkey on it as a small side table, and an oversized black chair w/ottoman that serves as couch - this has very small light brown, off-white polka dots on it. they're all hand-me downs and i'm making do. i really like the shag throw rugs with speckles of colors but can't afford that now. any design ideas for around this rug on a budget? or save the budget, return it quick... thanks!
How to decorate this room... Interior Design Advice? http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc34/cathielliott/101_5133.jpg http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc34/cathielliott/101_5136-1.jpg We just bought a house, and this is the kitchen. As you can see it's quite long, one half is darker and one half is quite light. We can't afford to change the cabinets, so we have to work with what we've got. I would prefer to do something slightly more interesting that white, so does anyone have any ideas? (Since this photo was taken we've sanded and re-varnished the floors, and stripped the wallpaper) Also, does anyone know of any interior design websites where I can post these photos and get advice? Thanks in advance.
Which part of the script should I use to draw a picture of? Lilo And Stitch Script Read the charges. Dr. Jumba Jookiba-- lead scientist of Galaxy Defense Industries-- you stand before this council accused of illegal genetic experimentation. How do you plead? Not guilty! My experiments are only theoretical-- completely within legal boundaries. We believe you actually created something. Created something?! Ha! But that would be irresponsible and unethical. I would never, ever... make more than one. What is that monstrosity? Monstrosity! What you see before you is the first of a new species. I call it Experiment 626. He is bulletproof, fireproof and can think faster than supercomputer. He can see in the dark and move objects times his size. His only instinct: To destroy everything he touches! So, it is a monster. Hey, just a little one. It is an affront to nature. It must be destroyed! Calm yourself, Captain Gantu. Perhaps it can be reasoned with. Experiment 626 give us some sign you understand any of this. Show us that there is something inside you that is good. Hmm? Meega, nala kweesta! So naughty! I didn't teach it that. Place that idiot scientist under arrest! I prefer to be called evil genius! And as for that abomination... it is the flawed product of a deranged mind. It has no place among us. Captain Gantu, take him away. With pleasure. Hmm. Uncomfortable? Oh... Good! The council has banished you to exile on a desert asteroid. So, relax... enjoy the trip and don't get any ideas. These guns are locked onto your genetic signature. They won't shoot anyone but you. Ow! Why, you...! May I remind the captain that he is on duty. Secure the cell! Aye, Captain. Captain on deck. All ahead full. Do... Does this, uh, look infected to you? Oh! Quiet, you. Gunfire in the cell bay! Open a channel. He's loose on Deck C! Red alert. Seal off the deck! Security, converge on door seven! Deadly force authorized. Fire on sight! There he is! Security to Bridge. It's in the ventilation system. He's headed for the power... grid. What was that? I don't think he's on the ship anymore. Confirmed. He's taken a police cruiser. Yeah... he took the red one. Yee-haw! Hmm?! That's it! We got it. We got it! Hyperdrive activated. System charging. He's engaged his H-drive! Warning-- guidance is not functional. Pursuit Commander that crazy trog is about to make a jump! Break formation! Get clear of that ship! Navigation failure. Do not engage hyper... Get me Galactic Control. Where is he?! He's still in hyperspace. Where will he exit? Calculating now-- quadrant section - - area . A planet called... Ee-arth. I want an expert on this planet in here now! What is that? Water. Most of the planet is covered in it. He won't survive in water. His molecular density is too great. No... Of course. How much time do we have? We have projected his landing at three hours, minutes. Oh, we have to gas the planet. Hold it! Hold everything! Earth is a protected wildlife preserve. Yeah. We've been using it to rebuild the mosquito population which, need I remind you, is an endangered species! Am I to assume you are the expert? Oh, I don't know about expert. Agent Pleakley at your service. Can we not simply destroy the island? No! Crazyhead! The mosquito's food of choice, primitive humanoid life forms have colonies all over that planet. Are they intelligent? No, but they're very delicate. In fact, every time an asteroid strikes their planet they have to begin life all over. It's fascinating, isn't it? With this, I've been able to study... What if our military forces just landed there? Well, that'd be a bad idea! These are extremely simple creatures, miss. Landing there would create mass mayhem and planet-wide panic! A quiet capture would require an understanding of - - that we do not possess! Who, then, Mr. Pleakley, would you send for his extraction? Does he have a brother? Close grandmother, perhaps? Friendly cousin? Neighbor with a beard? He got away? I'm sure this comes as no surprise to you. I designed this creature for to be unstoppable. Which is precisely why you must now bring him back. What? Me? And to reward you we are willing to trade your freedom for his capture. - - will not come easily. Maybe direct hit from plasma cannon might stun him long enough to... Plasma cannon granted. Do we have a bargain, Dr. Jumba? B-B-But it's a delicate planet! Who's going to control him? You will. Mmm! It's coming along great. I found that this morning. Lilo! There you are. Honeyface... this is Mr. Bubbles. Nice to meet you. Your knuckles say Cobra. Cobra Bubbles. You don't look like a social worker. I'm a special classification. Did you ever kill anyone? We're getting off the subject. Let's talk about you. Are you happy? I'm adjusted. The other social workers just thought she was a scream. Thirsty? Let me illuminate to you the precarious situation in which you have found yourself. I am the one they call when things go wrong and things have indeed gone wrong. My friends need to be punished. Call me next time you're left here alone. Yep. In case you're wondering, this did not go well. You have three days to change my mind. -Blah. -Eww! Lilo! Why didn't you wait at the school? You were supposed to wait there! Lilo! Do you not understand? Do you want to be taken away? Answer me! No! No, you don't understand? No! No, what? No! You're such a pain! So why don't you sell me and buy a rabbit instead?! At least a rabbit would behave better than you! Go ahead! Then you'll be happy because it'll be smarter than me, too! And quieter! You'll like it, 'cause it's stinky, like you! Go to your room! I'm already in my room! Hey. I brought you some pizza, in case you were hungry. We're a broken family, aren't we? No. Maybe, a little. Maybe a lot. I shouldn't have yelled at you. We're sisters. It's ourjob. Yeah, well, from now on... I like you better as a sister than a mom. Yeah? And you like me better as a sister than a rabbit, right? Oh... Oh, oh, oh, oh. Yes. Yes, I do. I hit Mertle Edmonds today. You hit her? Before I bit her. You bit her. Lilo, you shouldn't... People treat me different. They just don't know what to say. I'll tell you what. If you promise not to fight anymore I promise not to yell at you, except on special occasions. Tuesdays and bank holidays would be good. Yeah? Would that be good? Oh! My camera's full again. Aren't they beautiful? A falling star! I call it! Get out! Get out! I have to make a wish! Can't you go any faster? Oh, no! Gravity is increasing on me. No, it's not! It is, too, Lilo. The same thing happened yesterday. You rotten sister! Your butt is crushing me! Why do you act so weird?! It's me again. I need someone to be my friend... someone who won't run away. Maybe send me an angel... the nicest angel you have. What we when hit? There it is. It stay jammed under the fender. We better call somebody. We're looking for something that can defend itself... something that won't die... something sturdy, you know? Like a lobster. Lilo, you lolo. Do we have a lobster door? No. We have a dog door. We are getting a dog. So nice to see your pretty face again! Jumba? We need your name and address at the bottom of the form... The kennel's back this way. Go. Pick someone out. Hello? Hello?! Are there any aminals in here? Hello! Hi. Hoh... ha... Hi... Wow! Oh, yes. Mm-hmm. All of our dogs are adoptable. Except that one! What is that thing?! A dog, I think. But it was dead this morning. It was dead this morning?! Well, we thought it was dead. It was hit by a truck. I like him! Come here, boy. Oh! Aah! Wouldn't you like a different dog? We have better dogs, dear. Not better than him. He can talk! Say hello. He... Hel... Dogs can't talk, dear. He did. Does it have to be this dog? Yes, he's good. I can tell. You'll have to think of a name for him. His name is... Stitch. Now, that's not a real name... Hmm. Uh-uh, uh-uh-uh. ...in Iceland... but here, it's a good name. Stitch it is. And there's a two dollar license fee. I want to buy him! Can I borrow two dollars? He's all yours. You're all mine. Well, what's he doing? Shh! Keep quiet. He's listening for us. How good is his hearing? I mean, can he... Why don't you run? Coming! I'm coming! Stop! I have just determined this situation to be far too hazardous! Don't worry, I won't hit her. No! That girl is a part of the mosquito food chain. Here! Educate yourself. Using a little girl for a shield. This is low, even for you! Whoo-hoo! Bah! Tear him apart with all both my bare hands! Have you lost your mind?! What is it, Stitch? We cannot be seen! Bad dog, barking at nothing! You can't shoot, and you can't be seen. Look at you! You look like a monster. We have to blend in. Okay, I got to get to work. Stick around town and stay out of the roads, okay? I'll meet you at : . Hmm? Oh! Ah! Okay, I guess we should be going. What about Stitch? My friends! What do you want? I'm sorry I bit you and pulled your hair and punched you in the face. Apology not accepted. Now get out of my way before I run you over. I got a new dog. His name is Stitch. That is the ugliest thing I have ever saw. -Yeah. -Yeah. Eww! Get it away from me! I'm gonna get a disease! Somebody do something! Oh, great! He's loose. His destructive programming is taking effect. He will be irresistibly drawn to large cities where he will back up sewers reverse street signs and steal everyone's left shoe. It's nice to live on an island with no large cities. Are you okay? Doo-doo... Doo-doo... You can shake an apple off an apple tree Shake-a, shake-a, sugar, but you'll never shake me -Uh-uh-uh -Doo-doo-doo No, siree, uh-uh... Uh-uh. ...Doo-doo-doo Doo-doo-doo I'm gonna stick like glue Stick because I'm... Stuck on you I'm gonna run my fingers Through your long, black hair... Hey, over here, little buddy. ...Squeeze you tighter than a grizzly bear -Uh-uh-uh -Doo-doo-doo Yes, siree, uh-huh Doo-doo-doo, Doo-doo-doo I'm gonna stick like glue Stick because I'm... Stuck on you Hide in the kitchen Hide in the hall Ain't gonna do you no good at all 'Cause once I catch ya and the kissin' starts A team o' wild horses couldn't tear us apart Try to take a tiger from his daddy's side... When you're ready to give up just let us know, heh? Whee! ...Uh-uh-uh... Yeah! This is you. This is your badness level. It's unusually high for someone your size. We have to fix that. Ay-yi-yi, Lilo! Your dog cannot sit at the table. Stitch is troubled. He needs desserts. Oh, you didn't even eat your sweet potato. I thought you liked them. Desserts! David! I got a new dog. Oh! You sure it's a dog? Uh-huh. He used to be a collie before he got ran over. Yum! Hey... Blah! Eww! Howzit, Nani? Did you catch fire again? Nah, just the stage. Listen, I was wondering if you're not doing anything this... David, I told you, I can't. I... I got a lot to deal with right now. I know. I just figured you might need some time... You smell like a lawn mower. Look, I got to go. The kid at table three's throwing poi again. Maybe some other time, okay? Don't worry. She likes your butt and fancy hair. I know. I read her diary. She thinks it's fancy? Blech! Oh! Mmm! Aha! Look what I find! Get restraints! Right. Ow! Take that! Hurry! Uh, hold still just a... Aah! Hey, Nani! Is that your dog? Uh... All is well. Please, go about your business. I'm okay. Oh, your head looks swollen. Actually, she's just ugly. Darling... He's joking. Ugly-- look at me... Uh, this is not working out. Uh, b-but... Mm-mm. Yeah? Well, who wants to work at this stupid... fakey luau anyway. Come on, Lilo. Did you lose yourjob because of Stitch and me? Nah. The manager's a vampire and he wanted me to join his legion of the undead. I knew it. This is a great home. You'll like it a lot. See? Uh, Lilo... Comfy. -Hey! -Hey! What is the matter with you? Be careful of the little angel! It's not an angel, Lilo. I don't even think it's a dog. We just have to take him back. He's just cranky because it's his bedtime. He's creepy, Lilo. I won't sleep while he's loose in the house. You're loose in the house all the time and I sleep just fine! Hey, what are you doing? Stop that, Stitch! Hey! Look at him, Lilo. He's obviously mutated from something else. We have to take him back. He was an orphan and we adopted him! What about O'hana? He hasn't been here that long. Neither have I. Dad said O'hana means family. Huh? O'hana means family. Family means... ...nobody gets left behind. Or...? Or forgotten. I know. I know. I hate it when you use O'hana against me. Mmm. Don't worry, you can sleep right next to me. Look how curious the puppy is. This is my room, and this is your bed. This is your dolly and bottle. See? Doesn't spill. I filled it with coffee. Good puppy. Now get into bed. Hey! That's mine! Down! Mmm! Be careful of that! You don't touch this! Don't ever touch it! No! Don't pull on her head! She's recovering from surgery. No! That's from my blue period. Mmm... There. You know, you wreck everything you touch. Why not try and make something for a change? Ah! Wow. San Francisco. Save me! Eek! No more caffeine for you. This little girl is wasting her time. - - cannot be taught to ignore its destructive programming. Ooh! Push that over. What are you doing? Nothing! Uh, say, I want to try it on. No! Share! Let me try it! Hey! Ow! You're justjealous 'cause I'm pretty! Don't move. A mosquito has chosen me as her perch. She's so beautiful. Look, another one. And another one! Why, it's a whole flock. And they like me! They're nuzzling my flesh with their noses. Now they're, um, they're.... I think it might be a koala. An evil koala. I can't even pet it. It keeps staring at me, like it's going to eat me. Hello? Nani? Hello? Are you there? Now, this is interesting. What? - - was designed to be a monster but now he has nothing to destroy. You see, I never gave him a greater purpose. What must it be like to have nothing... not even memories to visit in the middle of the night? Nah! Hmm. Hmm... That's the Ugly Duckling. See? He's sad because he's all alone and nobody wants him but on this page, his family hears him crying and they find him. Then the Ugly Duckling is happy because he knows where he belongs. Hmm... Want to listen to the King? You look like an Elvis fan. Nani. Nani! Uh... yeah? Look. We can't go on together With suspicious minds... ...cious minds... ...can build our dreams... ...On suspicious minds... Heard you lost yourjob. Well, uh, actually, I just quit thatjob because, you know, the hours are just not conducive to the challenges of raising a child... Hey! I am so sorry about that. What is that thing? That's my puppy. Really? Thus far, you have been adrift in the sheltered harbor of my patience but I cannot ignore you beingjobless. Do I make myself clear? Perfectly. And next time I see this dog I expect it to be a model citizen... capisce? Uh... yes? New job. Model citizen. Good day. You look like an angel... Mrs. Hasagawa? I'm here to answer your newspaper ad. Elvis Presley was a model citizen. ...Walk like an angel... I've compiled a list of his traits for you to practice. Number one is dancing. I can't talk now, dear. I'm waiting for someone to answer my ad. That's why I'm here. Hands on your hips. Now follow my lead. Ooh-hoo. ...You fooled me with your kisses... Ah! That's my want ad. I know! ...Heaven knows how you lied to me You're not the way... Whoa, whoa! Why is everything so dark? I am all about coffee. Let's move on to step two. ...Walk like an angel... Elvis played guitar. Here. ...Talk like an angel... Hold it like this, and put your fingers here. See? Now you try. ...and I make great cappuccinos and lattes with... I wish I could, Nani, but I just hired Teddy and with tourist season ending... Concierge-er-ing is my life. ...You look like an angel... I just love to answer phones... This is the face of romance. ...Walk like an angel... She looks like she could use some lovin'. ...Talk like an angel, but I got wise... Oh, we might have something. Good. Now kiss her. ...The devil in disguise... I'm sure Elvis had his bad days, too. I'm all about saving people? ...I thought that I was in heaven... Actually, I do think we have an opening. Really? Okay, this is it. ...But I was sure surprised... Time to bring it all together. Oh, that'd be so great! You have no idea how badly I need this job. ...The devil in your eyes You're the devil in disguise... It's all you! Knock 'em dead! ...The devil in disguise You're the devil in disguise... Don't crowd him! ...Oh, yes, you are The devil in disguise... The devil in disguise, oh, yes... Hey, knock it off! Hey, Lilo! Howzit... Nani? We've been having a bad day. Hmm... Hey, I might not be a doctor but I know that there's no better cure for a sour face than a couple of boards and some choice waves. What you think? I think that's a great idea. -Aloha e, aloha e -Aloha e, aloha e -'Ano'ai ke aloha e -'Ano'ai ke aloha e -Aloha e, aloha e -Aloha e, aloha e 'Ano'ai ke aloha e 'Ano'ai ke aloha e... We lost Stitch! Lilo? Lilo, look at me. Look at me, baby. Are you hurt? No. He's unconscious, but I think he's alive. David, take Lilo. This isn't what it looks like. We were... It-It's just that... I know you're trying, Nani but you need to think about what's best for Lilo... even if it removes you from the picture. I'll be back tomorrow morning for Lilo. I'm sorry. Nani? Is there something I can do? No, David. Uh, I need to take Lilo home now. We have a lot to talk about, Lilo. Thanks. You know, I really believed they had a chance. Then you came along. Lilo, honey... we have to, uh... Don't worry. You're nice, and someone will give you a job. I would. Come here. Aloha Oe, Aloha Oe E ke onaona noho i ka lipo One fond embrace, a ho'i a'e au Until we meet again. That's us before... It was rainy, and they went for a drive. What happened to yours? I hear you cry at night. Do you dream about them? I know that's why you wreck things and push me. Our family's little now and we don't have many toys but if you want, you could be part of it. You could be our baby and we'd raise you to be good. O'hana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind but if you want to leave, you can. I'll remember you, though. I remember everyone that leaves. L... L... Lost. I'm lost. Help! I don't like the ocean! Oh, look, a friendly little dolphin. They helped sailors in the war... It's a shark! It's a shark, and it ain't friendly! It looks like a dolphin. Tricky fish! Tricky fish! Oh, octopus, come and help me? An octo... octopus is worse than a shark! I hate this planet! Oh... little monster! Uh, Agent Pleakley here. I have lost patience with you both. Have you captured - - or not? Um... Uh-uh... Consider yourselves fired and prisonbound. Your incompetence is nothing short of unspeakable! But, uh... mm... We're fired! Now we do it my way! Your way? Oh... uh, wait! It seems I have overestimated Jumber and Blinkley. Uh, Jumba and Pleakley. Whatever. The mission is in jeopardy. This could be your chance to redeem yourself, Captain Gantu. How soon will you be prepared to leave? Immediately. Don't run. Don't make me shoot you. You were expensive. Yes. Yes, that's it. Come quietly. Mm... waiting. For what? Family. Ah! You don't have one. I made you. Oh... maybe I could... You're built to destroy. You can never belong. Now come quietly and we will take you apart. No, no, no, no, don't, don't run! Don't run! Lilo. I didn't hear you get up. Baby, what's wrong? Stitch left. Really? It's good he's gone. He didn't want to be here, anyway. We don't need him. Lilo... sometimes you try your hardest but things don't work out the way you want them to. Sometimes things have to change and maybe sometimes they're for the better... even if... Nani! David! I think I found you a job. You what?! Old man Kukhkini's store, but we got to hurry. Oh, um, okay. Lilo? Baby, this is really important. I need you to stay here for a few minutes. I'm going to be right back. Lock the door and don't answer it for anyone, okay? Things are finally turning around. Aw, David, I owe you one. That's okay. You can just date me, and we'll call it even. Come back here, you little...! Stitch? What is it? Shh! Oh, hiding behind your little friend won't work anymore. Didn't I tell you? We got fired this morning. New rules. Ha! Ooh. Oh, ooh! Ow! Ow! Ow! You ain't nothin' but a hound dog... What are we going to do? ...Cryin' all the time... Ooh! I love this song! Pliers. Screwdriver. Check. Come out, my friend from whomever you're hiding behind. ...Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit And you ain't no friend of mine... What the...? Ooh! Come on! What's the big deal? I'll put you back together again. I'll make you taller and not so fluffy! I like fluffy! No... No... No! Oh, leave my mother out of this! You could do with a makeover. I tried to give you my good looks but let's face it, something went wrong. No! Quick! Follow me! If we make it to... You're alive! They're all over the place! Running away? Here... let me stop you. You always get in the way! Where's the girl? What have you done to the girl? Hello? Cobra Bubbles? Aliens are attacking my house. No, no, no! No aliens! Blue punch buggy! No punch back. They want my dog! There's no need to alert the authorities. Everything's under control. Lilo, who was that? Oh, good, my dog found the chainsaw. Lilo! Don't hang...! Ha! You shouldn't play with guns. Oh, okay. Thank you. Oh, I just remembered. It's your birthday! Happy birthday! Merry Christmas! It's not Christmas. Happy Hanukkah! We're leaving Stitch? Trust me. This is not going to end well. -One potato. -Two potato. -Three potato. -Four. -Five potato. -Six potato. Seven potato, more. My... mother... told... me... you... are... it. Oh, I win! Thanks. Mahalo plenty. You won't be disappointed. I'll show up early to help with the morning deliver... Oh, don't turn left. No. One of them had a giant eye in the middle of his face. Oh, Lilo! Please don't do this. You know I have no choice. No! You're not taking her! I'm the only one who understands her! You take that away, she won't stand a chance! You're making this harder than it needs to be. But you don't know what you're doing! She needs me! Is this what she needs?! It seems clear to me that you need her a lot more than she needs you. Lilo! Lilo! -Lilo! -Lilo! Lilo! -Lilo! -Lilo! You ruined everything. You're one of them? Ooh! Get out of here, Stitch. Surprise! And here I thought you'd be difficult to catch. Ho-ho-ho. Silly me. Lilo? Lilo! There you go, all buckled up for the trip. And look-- I even caught you a little snack. No! Stop! Lilo. Aah! Okay, talk. I know you had something to do with this. Now where is Lilo? Talk! I know you can. Okay, okay. Where's Lilo? Lilo... Now all your washing is up! You're under arrest! Read him his rights. Listen carefully. Hello? Galactic Command? Experiment 626 is in custody. We'll wait right here. Huh? Don't interact with her. Where's Lilo? Who? What?! Lilo... my sister. Uh, sorry, we do not know anyone by this, uh... Lilo! She's a little girl-- this big! She has black hair and brown eyes and she hangs around with that thing! Uh... We know her. Bring her back. Oh, we can't do that. Uh-uh. That would be a misuse of Galactic resources. See, problem is... we're just here for him. So she's gone? Look at the bright side. You won't have to yell at anyone anymore. Come. O'hana. Huh? Hey! Get away from her. No! What did you say? O'hana means family. Family means... ...nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten. Yeah. Hey... What?! After all you put me through you expect me to help you just like that?! Just like that?! Ih.

color schemes for a studio apartment with white walls...? my boyfriend and i are moving into a studio apartment with white walls and light beige carpeting. we are creating spaces for our bedroom and a living room, and they flow into each other because of the open floor design of our apartment. what color schemes would work well together flowing from the bedroom, living room and into the kitchen?
How many circuits are needs? Sharon tells you that they will have many appliances in the kitchen. A microwave, refrigerator, blender, toaster oven, toaster, can opener, electric fry pan, electric wok, mixer, clock radio, clock, crock pot, and dishwasher. Stan says that his computer and printer, and Sharon's ironing and sewing "stuff" will be in the same bedroom. Stan uses an electric razor, while Sharon uses a blow dryer and curling iron in the main bath. They also inform you that in the morning, Stan cooks breakfast while Sharon does her hair in the bathroom. And in the evening, while Sharon cooks dinner, Stan works on his computer or watches TV in the living room. Sharon likes to sew or iron while Stan does the budget on the computer. They show you a sketch of the floor plans for the house. The dimensions of the rooms are as follows: kitchen: 12'x15', living room: 15'x25', spare bedroom: 10'x12'. Is there a minimum number of outlets that must be wired for each room? How are overhead light switches wired into the circuit? Sketch the wiring diagram for the kitchen. Do you need more than one circuit breaker for the kitchen? Design the wiring so that no circuit breaker opens while Sharon is using several of her appliances cooking dinner. Be sure to give several examples of multiple appliance use. When you have answered these questions and sketched the wiring diagram, check with your instructor before doing the final activity. Construct a wiring plan for the kitchen, main bathroom, spare bedroom, and living room in the new house with the minimum number of circuits which will still suit Stan's and Sharon's mode of living. Your design should insure that no circuit breakers will trip during the busy mornings or evenings. Be sure to include the normal items in rooms (lights, stereo, VCR, etc.) as you plan your wiring diagram. Written by Barbara J. Duch
What do you think of this? Suppose you had unlimited resources to design a room in your dream house. >>Which room would you design: your bedroom, a game room, a kitchen, a family room? Why would you choose that room? >>What kind of atmosphere would you want to create in the room? >>How would you incorporate painting, sculpture, architecture, and light in your design to create that atmosphere? Give details. I don't want any serious answers, really. Just have fun with this one. Be creative.

So if evolution is logical how come you always trip up on the most simple logic..? that you CANNOT get something from nothing? For example if the earth were the result of THE BIG BANG which generally agreed would make a lot of MESS designed all organisms I could logically conclude that lighting a stick of dynamite and placing it in the middle of my kitchen would produce a lovely cup of tea just how i like it- the teabag, the milk, the sugar, the hot water would all combine in the mug to produce this perfect cup of tea. Or not? You tell me. I would suggest you explained your answer further "ablex". My question isn't designed to offend- what i've said is the simple logical conclusion i've come to regarding this. As regards your religiously offensive tone "Road Horse tm (Not To Be Cloned)" i'd like for you and people like you to just realise that an all powerful God doesn't NEED to be created- as we are (procreated even)- so therefore is above such STRICT UNIVERSAL LAWS. Timothy S you question where "my god" would get the materials to create life if there were none i.e my statement regarding nothingness to begin with. That's a rather interesting point, but not something which will make me flounder as you all so wish. If any of you considered for one moment that perhaps there IS a greater dynamic force such as the one that created the universe you'd realise how intricate and beautifully designed this planet is, minus all problems this earth would be extraordinarily beautiful. And i'd ask you- are we any closer to creating life from a laboratory then we were at your 3 billion years ago; its a bloody long wait, is it not? Is your evolution REALLY survival of the fittest?
so Ive decided with the help of some good answers to paint the wall in the living room an off white almost a cream color with the biggest wall being a darker brown and I have one wall with two windows and another with one window, then its the wall thats behind the door which are small. So that only leaves the big wall right when you walk in the house.(small house by the way 1bed1bath) also right when you walk in the house is the living room and to the right is like the dining area where ill place the kitchen table and this is where the light cream tile begins and goes all throughout the kitchen and if you keep going forward in the opposite direction from the ketchen the tile goes just to the door of the bedroom(bedroom has light cream carpet the same as the living room) on the left and the bathroom to the right has light cream tile as well (its a small house by the way) the living room and the bedroom have light cream carpet. Right now the walls are painted white but I wanted to modernize because im under 30 still :) I have Black T.V. stand from Walmart but any suggestions would be appreciated and I also have a couch that has a black sofa cover(also from walmart) with red pillows. I ve got a glass circle nice center table and the cabinets that are a dark Brown and a gray(ugly) but which were painted before I bought the house but Id like to paint them to match with the rest of the house. Also the the inside of the kitchen has flower wall paper that I want to change and paint, and the cabinets are yellow and white also painted before I bought the house... any suggestions on designing or decorating/painting/etc. I would appreciate??? Thanks! its my first home and im not too good at all this but I did lay the carpet and tile myself! :)
For Indians (and desis and the diaspora, if you wish): To you, what is a comfortable Indian house? Without even thinking of how much it might cost, just let your wishes control your dreams What things make it especially Indian .... not just the building itself, but the interiors also ... Is there a front lawn? What does the entrance door look like and the entrance hall itself? Any pictures of God? Others? And the living room? a dining room, too? Do you want one, two, or three bedrooms ... and one on the ground floor? Where are the bathrooms (and how many?) And the kitchen: what should that be like ... Puja? Store room? Is there a back court with a garden? A little pool with water .... and beautiful plants around it? A mango tree or two? Play yard? Flowers? A veranda? Do you have any extra buildings on the property? Maybe a guest house? What sort of colors, designs, furniture, light come into your house? Comfortable for guests? Do you like any Vaastu Shastra plans: having a back door opposite the front door? Anything else?
Problem with a halogen light fixture I bought and need advice? In November, I had a lot of work done on the apt I had just purchased. Among many other jobs, the electrician installed two ceiling lights I had bought in my kitchen. They are Quoizel semi flush lights and I discovered after all the work was done that they gave off very little light. So I realized I had made a big mistake in buying them. Then yesterday, just two months after they were installed, one of the lights went out. I went to pull down the glass part to change it and discovered that the knob I was turning released the entire fixture from the ceiling. Wires and all hanging out! The worst part was looking in and seeing that there weren't regular bulbs in it, like I had thought there would be. The light bulb looked to be the size of a AAA battery only a bit longer. I looked up the fixture on the internet and discovered it's a halogen light bulb. So my questions are: 1) how complicated would it be for me to change that bulb? 2) can I buy a halogen light bulb that emits brighter light? 3) is there a way to change the bulb without having to expose the wires. I can't believe I bought two of these light fixtures. Does anyone think the store (Expo Design Center) would take them back for a refund since I don't like them? Thanks for your help. I just tried to remove the bulb but didn't have any luck. I couldn't figure out how to get it out! I'm going to call my electrician about it. Maybe he'll know if I can get a brighter bulb. Thanks so much for your tips.
How to choose Room divider curtain? Hi, I live in a studio apartment with very very old kitchen appliances and Ebony color cabinets. I wanted to shield the bad view of the kitchen from the living space and installed a brown curtain rod (12ft length) at a height of 7ft from carpeted floor. The side walls are cream color painted but one wall is brick. The other area of the room is modern with lake view balcony. I like modern style, warm look. Please help me answer the following questions. 1) What height of the curtain is perfect? 7ft, which brings it all the way to the floor? 2) What color to choose? It has to be clean in the day as well as romantic(yep for special occasions :) )in the night preferably with yellow lamp lighting. Personally I like red. Will it work? 3) What kind of fabric to choose? 4) Plain or design? Thanks, Krish.
Architecture? What do you think about this? It's not completed yet, but the overall design structure is a 3-story condo. The 1st floor is only featured, I'm currently working on the other remaining. By the way, I have created the furnitures, lamps, tables, etc. by scratch. My DC Online isn't working and I dislike the 3d blocks they feature. Sorry for the excessive use of mirroring material, I just love how it looks! 1st floor: kitchen, dining/breakfast nook, living room, powder and utility room behind the stairs (the shadow gets in the way, but I'll fix the lighting when complete with project). 2nd floor: Master bed/bath, and gym. 3rd floor: Library and study (a very nice approch I think because it will be overlooking the outside and the digest of natural light). http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n313/musikartguy/l_40eff07ba96f9f2353a651310bd63743.png

What color should I paint my walls? I'm having trouble on picking colors that will flow from room to room. I live in an apartment and would like to paint the walls. When you enter the foyer you can see the living room, kitchen and dining room. I would say my style is contemporary. I want the apartment to look chic and glam but classy and sophisticated at the same time. In the living room I have blue furniture (royal blue) with black and white accessories. For the kitchen I was thinking a bright green. I really like the "Kelly Green" I found on the HGTV website. Maybe, even an acid-green and bring in white and black accessories to tie it in with the living room. The apartment has white appliances, dark counter tops (corian I think?), light colored wood cabinets, and a medium color wood floor. Or, I would like to paint the kitchen red (I'm really open to anything). In the dining room I have a huge sunburst mirror with gold trim and I would like to design around that. I like gold and bronze colored walls but in the living room I have silver and black lamps and silver on the coffee table and side tables. I also don't know what to paint the living room walls. I was leaning towards a light gray but I don't think it will look good if I do green in the kitchen... HELP!

The Collapse of the Twin Towers Part IV: Can the Conspiracy Theorists debunk this? Photographic evidence proves beyond a doubt that floors sagged, pulling perimeter columns in. An event some conspiracy sites suggest never happened. With the fire proofing blown off, the fire only needed as little as 600 degrees C to deform the naked truss steel. Conspiracy theorists point to the UL tests which show the trusses sagged but never fail to say the building should have stood. But what conspiracy theorists don't tell you is that the test was done with a minimum of fire proofing on the trusses. The test was never meant to find out what caused the truss to fail. It was testing the fire proofing to see if it was up to code. The 1968 New York City building code - the code that the towers were intended but not required to meet when they were built required a two-hour fire rating for the floor system. Shyam Sunder, lead investigator of the NIST WTC investigation, explained that the four laboratory tests provide only a means for evaluating the relative fire resistance rating of the floor systems under standard fire conditions and according to accepted test procedures. Sunder cautioned, "These tests alone cannot be used to determine the actual performance of the floor systems in the collapse of the WTC towers. However, they are already providing valuable insight into the role that the floors may have played in causing the inward bowing of the perimeter columns minutes before both buildings collapsed." "The fire conditions in the towers on 9-11 were far more extreme than those to which floor systems in standard U.S. fire rating tests are subjected," Sunder said to a group that gathered to watch yesterday's final test at Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in Northbrook, Ill. "Our investigation's final assessment of how the floor system performed in the WTC fires also must consider factors such as the combustible fuel load of the hijacked jets, the extent and number of floors involved, the rate of the fire spread across and between floors, ventilation conditions, and the impact of the aircraft-damaged towers' ability to resist the fire," Sunder said http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2004/08/040829130757.htm This is more evidence conspiracy theorists are being dishonest when they point to these tests and suggest the building should not have collapsed. They KNOW this because this is old news. So the fire expands the naked truss steel and it pushes against the perimeter columns. At this early stage the perimeter columns are strong enough to resist the expansion and cause the expanding truss to sag. Computer simulation of expanding truss pushing out on a perimeter column and sagging As the fires moved on to find new sources of fuel (Desks, seats, paper, plastic, etc..) the expanded truss cools and contracts. This contraction happened over a period of time and over many floors. This is a very important point, because had it only been one floor contracting the perimeter may not have buckled as much. If a floor sags, it pulls both the perimeter columns and core columns toward the center of the floor. Because the core columns are stronger than the perimeter, the perimeter is the side that gets pulled in. There are plenty of photographs from every angle which show the slow progression of sagging of trusses and bowing perimeter columns. It would be impossible for the NIST or anyone else to fabricate the photos. It was one of the most photographed and videoed events in history. It would be easy to prove the NIST is involved in a mass murder if they doctored photos. Yet this is exactly what some conspiracy theorists suggest. Other conspiracy theorists say it's an optical illusion created by heat. But it would be impossible for this illusion (Heat/Light refraction) to happen only to one side of the building even when that side of the building cooled. Light refraction changes with the position of the person looking at it. So no two cameras would have shown the same degree of bowing. Here conspiracy theorists seem to want it both ways: they want to say light refracted due to the heat, yet they also say the fires were almost out toward the end when the bow was greatest. They need to have it both ways but they can't. This illusion also happens to be where the collapse started. A "scholar" says the bow was due to the core columns being cut. He points to the movement of the north tower antenna which some originally thought moved first. But this was not the case.. "Photographic and videographic records were reviewed to identify structurally-related events. Where possible, all four faces of a building were examined for a given event or time period to provide complete understanding of the building response. Observations from a single vantage point can be misleading and may result in incorrect interpretation of events. For instance, photographic and videographic records taken from due north of the WTC 1 collapse appeared to indicate that the antenna was sinking into the roof (McAllister 2002). When records from east and west vantage points were viewed, it was apparent that the building section above the impact area tilted to the south as the building collapsed." (NIST 2005) The "scholar" is starting from a false premise and building a case around it. Something the "scholar" suggests the NIST did. Putting this irony aside, the real evidence that the core did not move over time is the fact that the other faces showed no signs of the core moving until the collapse. Before I continue, it's important to distinguish between the events of the moment of collapse and the gradual progression of bowing of the perimeter columns. I am talking about the gradual progression of bowing. The NIST does not disagree with the tilting of the top sections of the towers and that the core was a major part of that. Where the "scholar" differs is that it was the core and not the trusses which caused the tilt/collapse. He needs it to be the core to explain away the bowed columns and still entertain the thought of thermite/thermate. If the core tilts, pulling the columns in at the impact level in, you would see an equal but opposite reaction from the opposite face. If the east perimeter columns were being pulled in because the core columns tilt, the west would show signs of being pushed out. The top would also tilt, not just when it collapsed but over time as the perimeter is being pulled in. Think about it, the core is connected to all the floors above the impact point. If the trusses were in pristine or even merely slightly sagged condition as suggested by this "scholar", and the core and not the trusses pulled in the perimeter columns, then the core would have tilted pushing out the columns on the roof level. Why is there no sign of this happening? Because it didn't. It's just another attempt at throwing the kitchen sink in to explain this evidence. Why is this important? Because no believable scenario exists to explain explosives or thermite creating this effect. NONE. How would thermite/thermate bow columns over time? It simply ignites and burns chaotically. So we're left with an effect which looks EXACTLY like the fire sagged the trusses, then contracted and pulled in the columns with no evidence of thermite or a credible scenario which would explain the drawn out event. A helicopter pilot saw this about 10 min before collapse but had no way of communicating that to the people in charge. A bow is clearly visible on the right hand perimeter wall as trusses sag and pull in the perimeter columns. The photo below is NOT from the NIST report. The photo below is from the NIST report. Collapse begins a minute later. View from another angle, not from the NIST report... Below is a video from the moment the columns begin quickly buckling inward. Note there is no ejection of debris characteristic in Controlled Demolition before the event. Only after the building begins to fall do we see the debris from the pancaking floors eject outward as the floors force air out of the windows. http://wtc.nist.gov/pubs/Media_Public_Briefing_040505_final.pdf Start at page 36 of the above NIST briefing. You can see photographic evidence that the building was pulled in. Not just one floor, but across many. Note how the sagging floors pull the outer column in. There is enough visual evidence that the trusses were pulling the outer columns in. If you think a bomb blew up the building, you have to explain how a bomb pulled the walls inward well before they fell... Starting with the moment the plane hit, survivors said the doors wouldn't open because the building was so out of alignment. The impacts alone BENT THE 110 STORY BUILDINGS. That building was made to sway. I grew up in NY and have been to that building many times. When the wind was strong you could feel the building sway. I can't imagine an impact that would cause the building to sway enough to knock it out of center. A humanly unimaginable energy. That alone should weaken the building. Once you start to pile on the fire, unique construction, sagging trusses, and shifted load distribution, it's not hard to imagine enough of these factors adding up to cause a collapse. Factors which weren't known at the time. NIST’s computer model even took the wind shifting into account. "It is impressive that the World Trade Center towers held up as long as they did after being attacked at full speed by Boeing 767 jets, because they were only designed to withstand a crash from the largest plane at the time: the smaller, slower Boeing 707. And according to Robertson, the 707's fuel load was not even considered at the time. Engineers hope that answering the question of exactly why these towers collapsed will help engineers make even safer skyscrapers in the future. ASCE will file its final report soon, and NIST has been asked to conduct a much broader investigation into the buildings' collapse." http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/wtc/minu-trans.html Sources: http://www.debunking911.com

The area that is 21 feet long by 19 feet wide will be the kitchen area there will be an island in the middle that is 12 feet long by 6 feet wide. The other part of the same room or space is the living room. I need help picking out a color for the walls. The ceiling will be white.
