Landscape lighting? Does anyone know of a company that can help with lighting design? I understand the wiring and voltage drop etc... I need help with the lighting design. I want to light up the front of my home (stone face)(wall wash & columns) and do some up lighting and down lighting on trees (moon lighting effect) (wooded lot -nice mature trees). I've seen some really nice lighting in my area and understand the concepts but need help in knowing what kind of fixtures and bulbs - also placement. Any suggestion on a good company? New build home Design Center Upgrades? Which ones improve the homes value? I think I got a great deal on a new build home. Now it's time for the landscape, wiring, and design center appointments. I'm cool in all areas except the design center. Light fixtures, faucets, etc, I can do myself. Is it smart to upgrade the counter tops, cabinets, sinks, etc (major items)? The costs of these items are rolled into the price of the home at closing. OR should I wait until my finances permit and do them myself? The only thing I'm sure on upgrading is the carpet pad.

I'm looking for a grassy type of plant...? I'm designing a landscape for a small (really small) backyard and I want to add a little dimension by using a really tall plant combined with strategic landscape lighting. I need something that can grow in a medium to large sized pot and grow straight up about 4-5 feet. Any suggestions? Something that looks "grassy" and can survive a canadian winter would be nice but not necessary.
What is included in the cost for a landscape architect? We hired a landscape architect to draw up plans for our backyard. He quoted us a flat rate and we paid half upfront and half when the plans were delivered. We were under the impression that the plans would include all the information we needed. We told the architect that we would hire the contractors to actually do the work. When he delivered our plans it was just a preliminary design. He wanted an extra $3500+ to deliver the following: Irrigation Plan and Details 600.00 Drainage Plan and Details 750.00 Lighting Plan and Details 575.00 Construction Plan and Details 1,200.00 Planting Plan and Details 750.00 Is this a common practice? We have now hired a landscaping company to execute his conceptual plan but he will not leave us alone about how everything is being done incorrectly and we really need to have these plans from him. I am not sure what to do. When we had someone plan our front yard he included the irrigation, design, and planting plan in one fee and I was under the impression that was how most people did their business.
I need help with A Tale Of Two Cities? I'm looking for stylized settings in books one and two. A stylized setting is one in which the predominant style is present in many if not all of the design elements of the setting - the lighting, the weather, the landscape, the architecture, the hairstyles, the clothing, objects, speech, etc. and can be contrasted with a naturalistic or traditional setting. I think England and France are one of them, but are there any other specific places?
What to do when you tell a gal that you work for a food giant and she spots u at a red light delivering pizza? Parties are masquerades these days, only the masks are not worn over faces but laid over job titles. Take the instance of a Gardner, he called himself a "Landscape Design Consultant" and ended up with a hot date instead of tending tulips and rhodendrons. There was a Dishwasher who called himself a "Cutlery Storage and Preservation Associate." So I decided to invent a title for my Domino's Pizza delivery gig and called myself "Italian Cuisine Procurement & Distribution Expert" for a MNC. This impressed the gal I was with who was probably staring at my biceps when I whispered the job title. However, during the week I was riding the 125 cc standard issue moped with boxes of pizza balanced on an assortment of carriers, one for the vegeterian fanatic, one for a chicken lover and so on when the light turned red and I stopped abruptly. As luck would have it this gal stopped beside me in her new Chevy and my stomach bubbled like the cheese on a pepperoni pizza. How to explain when she shoots?
Could someone correct my translation in UK-English? It's for exam. Thanks a lot!? Imagine that you are answering the final question from very popular quiz…and the last question is...Which is the fastest growing plant on this planet having almost the same strength as the steel? Hmmm…Maybe you cannot bring to your mind the answer quickly. Ok…But when you will hear some other amazing facts about it, you will probably remember it. The correct answer is – bamboo. A brief introduction: bamboo is a woody perennial evergreen plant that is actually part of the true grass family. There are over 1000 species of bamboo on the earth. Bamboo can be found all over the world in varied climates, from the cold mountainous regions to the hot tropical areas. They can be found in North and South America, throughout East Asia, northern Australia, and southern Africa. Although they can grow to towering heights – ranging from miniatures to 60 meters, bamboo is not actually considered a tree. Bamboo along with being one of the tallest grasses in the world is also the fastest growing plant in the world, capable of growing up to 1 meter per day! In addition to these characteristics, bamboo also boasts incredible environmental benefits. Despite its lowly reputation, bamboo may be the strongest stuff on the planet. Its growth pattern makes it easily accessible in a minimal amount of time. Bamboo provided the first re-greening in Hiroshima after the atomic blast in 1945. A grove of bamboo returns 35 percent more oxygen into the air than an equivalent stand of trees. By taking in more carbon dioxide and emitting more oxygen bamboo naturally battles global warming and climate change. Bamboo does it year around because it is an evergreen. Fuel made from bamboo would have a neutral carbon dioxide impact because any fuel made and burned from bamboo will release the same amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere that was consumed by the bamboo while it was growing. In an age ridden with fuel wars, and an ever-declining ozone layer, natural products like bamboo have taken a front scene in the international energy crises, primarily for production of renewable ethanol and diesel. Bamboo is exquisite component of landscape design. Its anti-erosion properties create an effective watershed, stitching the soil together along fragile river banks, deforested areas, and in places prone to earthquakes and mud slides. Another important benefit of bamboo cultivation is that it helps sustain China’s endangered panda population. Giant pandas usually eat only the four or five kinds that grow in their habitat of southwestern China. Bamboo is strong–it’s one of the strongest building materials in the world. Yet despite its strength, when made into clothing, bamboo is softer than the softest cotton and smoother than the smoothest silk. The bamboo fiber is eco-friendly, without any chemical additives. It takes 150 grams of chemical fertilizers to produce one cotton t-shirt. In contrast, bamboo requires very little water because it is 300 percent more absorbent than cotton and it requires no harmful pesticides or insecticides. In addition, growing bamboo actually enriches the soil with nutrients while growing cotton depletes it. More importantly, bamboo fiber is a unique biodegradable textile material. As a natural cellulose fiber, bamboo fabric can be 100% biodegraded in soil by microorganisms and sunlight. The decomposition process does not cause any pollution in the environment. What other about bamboo? Thomas Edison also successfully used a carbonized bamboo filament in his first experiment with the light bulb. In Limon, Costa Rica, only the bamboo houses from the National Bamboo Project stood after their violent earthquake in 1992. It is interesting also that...bamboo furniture is light, durable, and affordable…bamboo shoots provide nutrition for million of people worldwide. In Japan, the antioxidant properties of pulverized bamboo bark prevents bacterial growth and it’s used a natural food preservative….current research point to bamboo's potential in a number of medicinal uses, especially in cure of some types of venereal diseases and cancers…bamboo is a mystical plant as a symbol of strength, flexibility, tenacity, endurance, luck and compromise. Throughout Asia, bamboo has for centuries been integral to religions ceremonies, art, music and daily life. With time and dedicated research, perhaps our future will be a bit brighter due to the widespread use of bamboo. We will be not surprised to see a bamboo plantation pop up in a field near us!
New room design? for teen? Hello! In a couple of weeks I will be moving to a new house with my mom and her boyfriend and my brother and sister. they told me that I could design my room however I felt like. I am turning 14 in september and all my life my room has been very "little girl" first I had 2 twin beds with miss match bedding and light purple walls. then I had electric blue walls while I went through my "I'm such a bad ass teenager" phase last year. Now I want a sophisticated look. I still really like the color purple so heres what I was thinking: Soft purple (NOT light purple) on 3 walls deep grape purple on one wall (probably the one with no windows or the one my bed is against which may end up being the same wall) silver accents on the walls simple white desk with my lap top and camera and all of my chargers for my phone ipod camera and laptop white dresser and I know that a lot of teenage girls have posters on their walls of bands or twilight or whatever but I was thinking more along the lines of framed ansel adams landscapes on the walls. What do you think? also what kind of bedding do you think I should buy? thanks for all of your help! - cody
Want to start my own Landscaping Business But not sure how to do that? I have been told by many that my work is very beautiful and that I should go into business for myself. I love to design yards and I feel I am very good at it. I have never had my own business before so I really don't even know where to start. Do I need a licence for this? When and If I did start do I pay for all the lawn design and then charge them for it afterwards? How much does ones usually charge for something like this? I know it cost me a pretty penny to do my own yard.LOL Plus all the time I had into it. I built my own ponds, bridges, flower pots, Large and small driftwood decor, painted what ever needed to be painted, had several decor water pumps running, Large stumps of wood for some of the water decor pumps to sit on. I halled in lava rocks, river rocks, large bolder rocks for design, many flower plants, wind chimes, tie kie torches, indoor outdoor rope lights that swirled through the ground plants, ground ornaments, ground lights, green viens through the back fencing, ect

Quandry over a water fountain? I like to create in my gardens. My front yard has different types of roses, and evergreens adorning the front of the house. Last year I designed and built a nice little water fountain right under my livingroom windlow. It is simple but it looks nice and sounds pretty when I sit with my windows open. I have landscaping lights on it and the water runs 24/7. I have flowers and plants surrounding the water. Now my son in law bought me one and is very proud that he did. I really like it and wanted one for so long. He had heard me talking of one and had some of it hand made. I don't really want to pull down my creation yet but I know that if I don't attempt to put his up some time this summer he will feel slighted. It was expensive and he and my daughter saved for this in hopes to give me a great gift for mother's day. any opinions?
Need cool business name for House Painting and Decorating business? This is not a typical painting company where the customer picks the colors and the painter paints them. This is an interior decorating and design company who paints, remodels and decorates on a budget. We paint, change door knobs, light fixtures, stain discolored grout, stage various decorative items, landscaping etc. Basically any type of cosmetic upgrade you can think of to increase curb appeal and 'update' houses inside and out. Most of our business has been from realtors with houses in need of a fresh look. Thanks, Luciane
What would you consider when designing a dog-friendly home? Imagine you were designing a home (including exterior landscaping) to be used for several decades by a family that will have dogs (various ages, breeds, personalities, etc.). Be as DETAILED as possible about decisions/consideration for floor plan, materials, placement of fixtures (electrical outlets, lighting) and even furniture design. greekman, Just curious. In your home, are you the one who handles : * mud, leaves and snow tracked in on paws? * dog vomit and other bodily fluids from sick dogs? * carrying young, injured, sick or elderly dogs up and down flights of stairs? * containing/supervising young, injured, etc. dogs? OK. Dog-friendly isn't exactly the right phrase, but it's fits in the question title, unlike "What would you consider when designing a home that will keep you from pulling your hair out just because you have a dog?" ;-) Agility Man, Thanks for all the ideas. The flooring links alone are worth 5 points. ;-)

What kind of plant life can I use for landscape in a beach house in Southern California? This isn't a real house... I am an majoring in architecture and I am currently working on a beach house project, in which I have to build a scale model.... My site is in San Diego, California... I plan on designing a house with a large backyard garden with palm trees and other trees and plants. My question is, what kind of trees and plants can I use in southern California, specifically plants that will be able to handle well in a beach environment? Keep in mind that it is a beach house, with direct access to the beach... I want to us a variety of bushes and trees that are big enough to create some privacy around the house since my site has a 6' public access walk right next to it...... I want plants that range from 1' tall to 8' tall....... I plan on using miniature palms trees scattered around the house as well... I specifically want to use mainly nice looking colorful bushes, and trees, and some nice exotic plants.... Nothing to rare, keep in mind that I need to find miniature models of these plants for my concept model. :) The main reason why I ask for your help is because I am trying to order miniature fake plastic scaled trees and plants for my concept model. I need specific species of plants, bushes, and trees in order to know what type of mini tree to order online.... I not looking for flowers and stuff like that, I prefer plants, bushes, and trees.... My house will be a light colored modern looking house, most likely white with irregular shapes, and high glass panel windows to take advantage of the Pacific Ocean view.... Im just adding that so you can visualize what Im trying to do, :) Thank you so much for your help in advance... I plan on transferring to a highly ranked architecture school, and I want this model to impress when I make a portfolio out of it.

Has feng shui worked for you? If so, how? Feng shui (pronounced fung-shway), the pattern of wind & water, is the Taoist art and science of living in harmony with the environment. It includes the placement of one's home or business on the building site, the arrangement of furnishings within the home and office and the purposeful design of interiors and landscapes to enhance chi, the life-giving energy. Taken to it's deepest level, feng shui creates external environments to enhance the journey of the soul. Feng shui is an environmental medicine creating the frequencies which stimulate well-being. It places the ordinary items of your daily material reality, such as plants, furniture, lighting and color, in positions which create a harmonic resonance with good fortune.
DSLR Camera Advice for New Photographers? ok, so i am a teenager who is interested in photography. i am only in middle school, but know how to operate and explore the functions of my P&S camera pretty well. i have been looking into getting a DSLR model, and would like to know what model would be best. i'm not extremely wealthy, so let's try to keep the price below 800$. i'm looking for a camera that can take very detailed, refined, clean shots, with a minimal amount of blur. the model would have to have a nice focus, as well. the camera also has to be capable of taking pictures with one item in focus, and the rest of the picture not in focus (i'm not sure what the proper term is). i would also like a camera on which you can tamper with the image's exposure before taking the shot. other filters such as black and white, sepia, things like that, etc., would also have to be present. i am also looking for a some what light weight, nice looking, design, with nothing *too* difficult to operate. oh, and a strong battery life would definately be a must have! i love taking landscape, city scape, still life shots, and portraits, if that helps at all. all in all, i'm looking for a good quality camera that an inexperienced photographer-in-the-making like me can operate and produce good shots with. thank you in advance for your answers, all are appreciated! :)

you know you are from montana when? YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRUE MONTANAN WHEN: 1. "Vacation" means going east or west on I-90 or Highway 2 for the weekend. 2. You measure distance in hours. 3. You know several people who have hit a deer more than once. 4. You often switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again. 5. You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard, without flinching. 6. You see people wearing camouflage at social events (including weddings). 7. You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked. 8. You carry jumper cables in your car and your girlfriend knows how to use them. 9. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit. 10. Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow. 11. You know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction. 12. Your idea of creative landscaping is a st atue of a deer next to your blue spruce.
What do you think of this story? A Turing Lure by Brady Sylvan Their wheels turned slowly, conserving energy, and none of their LED indicator lights were blinking. EB-V C11 and EB-V A28 usually coasted as long as possible without visiting a Charge, Eleven had always insisted that batteries keep longer the more they are fully used. A28 didn’t take part in such superstition, but amused his friend by following his credo. The pair hadn’t seen a Charge in some time, and A28 had a dismal two bars, but there was little to worry about at this point. Twenty-Eight was taller than Eleven, his Blue “A” faded and chipped from a long time past, even his number engraving was beginning to fade into him. Eleven’s yellow finish was vibrant, so bright that it only slightly stood out against the white background of the city. His wheels were still abrasive and rough, and made A28’s look like mirrors, although he would never admit it. C11’s only imperfection was a nick behind his light sensor, he had no story for the scar, he had simply always had it. Twenty-Eight gladly took advantage of this scratch and would tease Eleven incessantly. “The Hill is coming up and 67% percent of the bots coming from it are eight bars or higher. And a few had their Charge indicators on. What do you say?” The Hill stood in the center of the City, it was visible from anywhere within the Cities borders. It was the epicenter, many would visit it on a full Charge simply for its view. It was so tall, that at its base, one can’t even see the summit. Of course it plateaus, in order to provide time to rest, but it’s impossible to tell from the bottom. The top usually bustles with movement, even if a Charge isn’t present. In the center there are two perpendicular lines, and it is with this aid that most bots come to realize the Cities symmetry. Each corner could fold perfectly onto its counterparts, and this beauty was not lost on the EB-V’s. At each of the corners lies a right angled wall, and within that a long, corridor leading nowhere. The entire city were shades of white, or black depending on the audience. The floor was marked by wear, the tires of its inhabitants leaving subtle trails and sometimes dark blotches if it were popular enough. “It’s a date. But I think you better lead the way, you only have two left, and let’s face it, those wheels don’t have near enough traction to get you up without me behind you,” joked C11. “Yes, yes. One time, with only one bar, and now I’ll never hear the end of it,” Twenty-Eight responded quickly. “You think you’re some sort of savior; well, come on, help me out.” The two set off with a bit more speed, the Hill truly was tough, a forty five degree slope would be hard on anyone, despite the fact that Eleven was right, Twenty-Eight had always struggled making it up by himself. A28 was a proud EB, he would never let Eleven start behind him at the foot of the Hill, but pride isn’t always coupled with stupidity. Twenty-Eight knew he would need help and appreciated his friend’s kindness. A28 and C11 had always rolled with one another, at least as long as the two could remember. They were very fond of each other, although Twenty-Eight may say otherwise. They had seen a fair share of Charges and Drains together, always on the lookout for one another. The two never could decide upon how they met, Twenty-Eight would say it was near the east side of the City when Eleven had stopped him dead in his tracks, saving him from a Drain. Eleven, however, remembers this as just another occasion where he bailed A28 out, he would always insist it was atop the Hill. He admits, though, he doesn’t ever remember introducing himself. The friends climbed and climbed, surveying over the whole of the City. Each bot’s LED’s below seemed so dull at the height. The rest of the landscape was colorless, except the bot’s themselves; it was all white, the entire City, only shaded by the shadows of walls without ceilings. The design was strangely inefficient; walls that stood solitary and others that linked to form long corridors with only one entrance or exit, depending on which way you rolled. Other smaller hills were scattered around, they were very advantageous for locating close Charges, but for the entire City, there was only one real Hill. No walls stood close to the foot of the Hill, as if to make its position even more hallowed. From this height the blurred lights of other bots flowed through the City like circuits passing information. Clusters of green where crucial information rests, and quick leaps of red away from Drains, like a magnet repelling its equal. The aesthetics of the city paralleled its inhabitants, naturally; two products of the same designer. “There is a Drain in the northwest corner, do you mind putting it in your memory for me, I’ve been struggling with it recently,” A28 pointed out. “Of course. That’s the third Drain in only a couple of days. I wonder if it’s going to be constant soon.” “I hope not, it’s beautiful in that area, the
Would it be wise to thoroughly study unintended impacts of Wind Farms BEFORE running hog-wild with them? I recall the unintended consequences of forced use of ethanol (more toxic than regular gasoline) and the ban on DDT, the latter of which resulted in the loss of millions of lives lost to malaria. Wouldn't it be prudent to avoid such disasters? [below are excerpts. Please see link for entire article] Can large wind farms tweak weather downwind? By Peter N. Spotts | 06.24.09 A battle over a wind farm in our backyard – off the island of Martha’s Vineyard – has shown that folks can raise a host of objections over unintended consequences, real or imagined. They’ve included hazards to boaters, hazards to endangered migratory birds, hazards to aircraft flying between the Vineyard and the mainland, and of course, hazards to the property value of big-buck homes with scenic views of Nantucket Sound. Oh yes, one can’t forget the installation of transmission lines to link the turbines to the utility grid. And that’s just for one relatively small wind farm. Now researchers are looking at another potential “unintended consequence” – the likelihood that collectively, groups of large wind farms in one region could alter weather patterns downwind of the turbines in another region. So far, evidence suggests that large collections of wind farms could have small but measurable effects on atmospheric circulation patterns, cloudiness, and temperatures over substantial distances. ……. if the whole Midwest “is somewhat roughened over a large area, then you could imagine having a large-scale impact on the atmosphere.” …….. he and his colleagues are trying to refine their estimates with an eye toward wind farms of the future – “how to design wind farms in ways that make them innocuous,” he says. At first blush, the thought of vast collections of wind farms affecting weather patterns seems a bit far-fetched. But scientists have long studied the effects that changes in the roughness of Earth’s surface can have on low-level wind patterns. And large, regional collections of wind turbines would rough up the surface. In effect, it’s like planting very tall trees (roughly 300 feet high). Last year, Mr. Kirk-Davidoff and a colleague, took a more detailed look to figure out how and why the climate changed. They found that the presence of rougher landscape over large areas introduced “appreciable” changes in wind, temperature, and cloudiness. At the moment, Kirk-Davidoff acknowledges, the work is “pretty speculative.” Real-world measurements of wind farms’ effect on wind patterns are few and far between. In 2005, scientists in Europe published a study of the effects that large off-shore wind farms had on wind patterns, using satellite-based radar. But no one so far has built collections of wind farms on continental scales. Yet “the possibility of relying heavily on wind power is not unreasonable,” he says – especially in light of wind-energy’s potential as outlined in the paper from the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. For Kirk-Davidoff, his work involves examining potential unintended consequences – at least the ones people can think up – “as the technology ramps up, so hopefully we don’t get into really surprising consequences before we have a chance to realize what they might be.” http://features.csmonitor.com/environment/2009/06/24/can-large-wind-farms-tweak-weather-downwind/ Paul... you are absolutely wrong!.. "Finkel writes that Robert Gwadz, a malaria specialist at the US National Institutes of Health, says the worldwide ban on DDT that eventually followed the 1962 publication of Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, which condemned use of the chemical, "may have killed 20 million children." The quote by Gwadz does not include the huge number of adults that have also died since "DDT become nearly impossible to procure" because "the chemical was outlawed by most of the world for agricultural use". The deaths caused by malaria, however, are only the beginning of the problems caused by the disease. A far greater number of the continent's people are regularly afflicted by malaria, which often causes life-l

How will MP and zoom work together to get a good picture? I go to Jonas Brother concerts where I am 50th row, or 3rd row balcony still high up. The light is dim and my camera is low quality and clearly the zoom isnt great.

How would you feel if your neighbor did this? Our landscaper professionally designed and integrated some landscaping between our house and our neighbors. It's on our property but edges on the neighbors border. It goes from the front to the back of the property. We paid well and had it professionally done and have maintained it, i.e. weeding it and putting down mulch every year. This is my issue: Without asking us, the neighbors have planted a straight row of flowers, along with tacky blue lights every foot all along the inside of the landscaping on their side. How would you feel? Do you think they had a right to do this, especially without talking to us first. What would you do? As I stated earlier, the landscaping is on our property, but borders theirs. They put their stuff inside our landscaping design on their side. Is it normal to ask the neighbors opinion before putting landscaping on our own personal property? I repeat: Our landscaping is on OUR property. They put their flowers & lights on OUR landscaping on OUR property, but facing their own property.
Dog owners who travel or use kennels or sitters...? I'm designing what I call a "dog resort". I want it to be like where my clients would like to stay. When you think of a dog resort what are some things you would expect to be there. And if you have any ideas please share. The interior will be minimalist, tile floors and warm lighting. Also will have a fenced in outside play area. I want to do some dog friendly landscaping out there... ideas on that as well? Also still trying to think up a name for the place. I will be taking in small dogs only to start with. Thanks!
Does anyone know of a PC program thats used to help with designs? my sister and her husband are interested in doing up there house and have heard that there is a PC program that helps with both interier (?sp?) and landscaping, it does that before and after thing. so you upload a photo or pick a design and then add it and you can add things (like lights) and change things (like wallpaper colour) and it shows you what it would look like with the rest of the house/garden (seperate programs maybe) I'm sorry i know i'm not describing it well and i also know i can't spell sorry again. please help thanks

Should the house be alive? I'm making a new story in which the 3 main characters are the reincarnation of the former owners of a abandoned mansion deep in the woods. Prologue:Life covered darkness The light spread among the leaves green as emerald that radiated of life, the sun shined in the sky and the never-ending blue was painted with white, fluffy clouds .In this divine landscape only one thing didn't belong, the house inspired out of a horror film . It was in the heart of the forest, hidden under thick layers of verdure .It has been deserted for a long time and yet there was no dust or any eroded wood, it was as if time stood still . The old, Victorian architecture accentuated the feeling of unease that surrounded the building. The dark colours, black and blood red, didn't help bring back to life this blacken heart . If you dared enter, you would see the illustriousness of the grand stairwell decorated with paintings, the fireplace that seem just used and the sofas were soft like silk. The bedrooms were many, yet none resembled another and , unlike the rest of the mansion, quite colourfully, with various drawings and designs on the walls. Even if it seems impossible the contrast between the sleeping rooms and the building as a whole, brought a certain cheeriness to this macabre place. The light spread among the leaves green as emerald that radiated of life, the sun shined in the sky and the never-ending blue was painted with white, fluffy clouds .In this divine landscape only one thing didn't belong, the house inspired out of a horror film . Chapter 1:Among the wreckage It was a lovely morning in the house of the Bloods .Mina, a seventeen year old girl, could hardly wait to go on a camping trip with her best friend, Steve. “Hurry up, darling, your friend is almost here .” “I know, mum!” yells the girl trying to zip up her jeans. Fuddling through the first floor, the teen was desperately looking for her cross-shaped necklace .It wasn't an ordinary pendant, although it seemed common, it meant the world for Mina. It has been passed on throughout the generations, from mother to daughter and it was the only thing that she had from her grandmother. Entering the front door, Steve politely greets his best friends' mother and heads towards Mina's room. He has black hair, similar to that of Mina, and ice-blue eyes that seemed to pierce through you, unlike the girls warm, green orbs which shined like an emerald. Bang! Suddenly a loud noise was hear, from upstairs, right above him, opposite to Mina's room. Going there he discovers that the teenage girl wasn't inside her bedroom. “Mina, where are you?” asks the boy desperately . Moving forward, he enters a wrecked room, everything thrown aside and the bookcase was fallen over the desk, creating some-kind of hole . “So, that's what I heard...” thinks Steve. “Ouch...Help, I'm stuck here!” screams the newly found Mina. “Don't move. What were you doing here?” he asks. “My pendant, it's the only place it could be.” Slowly lifting the bookcase, Steve frees the girl who had a silly smile on her face. “I, at least hope you got what you were looking for.” he says “Yup!”she screams while holding up the sought object so her friend can see. Leaving to their initial destination, the two teens can't help but thing about what a morning they had . I need to decide if I'm going to make the house described in the first chapter alive(it being the murderer of the people Mina and Steve -2 lovers that lived there- are the reincarnation of ) or that someone else is the murderer? the third chapter is : Chapter 2:From bad to worse Arriving in the forest, Mina and Steve, prepare the tent and camp fire for the night. The sun was slowly descending in the rosy horizon, the low whisper of the wind was the only noise in this grave-like silence. In the mighty sky that held no clouds, with only a few sparks of light, lay the moon. This sphere of pale light gave an eerie aura, creating a beautiful contrast with the silver moon. Its' light shined in the lake near the camp-side and its crystal reflection was lost in the depths. The careful mix of cold colours and radiant light emitted from the queen of the night brought a odd, but romantic atmosphere to the silent summer night. Running through the dens forest, Vicky tries to escape the hungry wolves following her . Spotting a cave hidden beneath an old willow up ahead, she thinks she found her getaway . "Finally! I thought I'll never find a way out!" says the 30 year old woman. Her bright red eyes sparkled in the dar
can anyone plz correct the grammar and anything the needs to be correct on this essay? This is a painting called Only One by Georgia O’keeffe. It was made in 1959, its medium is oil on canvas with measurements of 36 by 30 1/8 inches. Originally, this work of art is located in the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution. In first instance this painting doesn’t transmit any recognizable shape, but if it is analyzed further it can create in your mind different compositions. The colors that give live to this painting are blue, dark orange, dark brown, brown, and a deep fuchsia. A clue that can help to interpret this painting is its name, Only One. Most of Georgia O’keeffe’s paintings are oil on cavans, and this painting is not the exception. In this painting it seems that she used three different types of brush strokes or probably more. The first brush stroke it seems that it was use on the line that divides the whole composition, it seems that she used a semicircular stroke to give an effect of cloudy that eventually diminishes at the end. The second brush stroke, it seems that she used a glazing stroke. It looks like she used this brush stroke to paint over the first color to make it look like a combination of the two colors. The third brush stroke, it seems that she used a smooth stroke to paint parts of the composition that needed solid colors. In this painting it seems that some parts of the composition were drawn first and others were composed later by painting. It doesn’t seem as she had a specific composition when she started to paint it. Many of her paintings have a defined figure, but in this painting is hard to recognize any figure. There are four shapes in this painting, one the looks like a blade, another one that looks like a mountain with a sharp tip, another one that looks like a broad line, and one that it hardly looks like a face profile. There is not way to see if this painting has any particular organization or arrangement of its composition that only way we know how the painting is presented is because thats how Georgia O’keeffe presented this painting. This painting has six central colors blue, dark orange, dark brown, brown, pink, and deep fuchsia. There are other colors that they seem they were created by mixing the central colors, such as dark violet, and midnight blue. Its color intensity is a contrast of dark and light colors, dark colors such as dark brown and midnight blue, and light colors such as pink, blue and, deep fuchsia. The whole composition of color it creates a mood of curiosity about the painting. It seems that Georgia O’keeffe painted first the whole composition with dark orange then she started to apply the other colors. A reason why it seems that she painted the whole composition first with dark orange is the degree of colors when she added the others colors over. A clearly example of this is the line the divides the painting which was painted with dark brown and it can be seen orange as a background. In the year that this work of art was painted, Georgia O’keeffe visited many countries as a way to experience and see new material. While she was traveling in the plane she was inspired by rivers, clouds, landscapes from the perspective of the air. Therefore, personally this painting looks like the sky where the different figures in this painting can be interpreted by clouds of color. When we see the clouds in the sky they can be seen to take some type of shapes, but this painting has its own design clouds that when their look closer it creates in your mind whatever shape you see. Besides the arrangement of color and its figures, there is the painting’s name. Its name evokes curiosity, what is the reason that the painting is called Only One. Personally, this painting can be dedicated or connected to her deceased spouse. When the painting is flip to the right we can see at the right upper corner a face profile, and even more interesting is the part where it looks like a mountain. In this part where it kind looks like a mountain we can see a heart and inside of it we can see a very small face really hard to recognize if is not analyzed closer. Furthermore, if the painting is flip upside down at the right bottom side we can see another face profile but in a different position. The same happens in the part where it looks like a mountain, it seems like there were painted many small hearts, but they are difficult to identify. By seen this factors about the painting and relating it with its name it could be dedicated to her only one love Alfred Stieglitz. This painting provokes curiosity because when we see it at first we don’t see anything but after being analyzed and go over every detail, it gives a different perspective. Although Georgia O’keeffe said that her paintings don’t contain any meaning, I think they do.
Can anyone help me with character names? well first i need a name for one of the characters in one of my stories: The character is a women in a tribe of magical people, they have magic designs that cover their skin and they are based off of native americans. She is extremely wise but looks surprisingly young for her age. She is the shamman which means she is all knowlegable with all the folklore and prophecies of the world they live in and she is the vessel of the gods. I need a name for her, like an other worldy name but i want it to be very feminine (just the first name) I also need a name for a world, the setting of my story. The colors are vivd (and everything is different color from here on earth) the landscape is beautiful. It varies from coasts, to caves, to giant forests, to a tribe of the people above, to the emperial city where the royal family rules. It has its dark and light sides and it is magically mysterious. (and this is like another magical realm not like a scifi alien planet) Can anyone help me? Im sorry for being so specific but i just hope it helps.
Which Geography/Geology would be easiest for someone who knows nothing about it between these? Might take a college Geo out of curiosity as an elective... GEOG 110 Intro. to Physical Geography I This course provides an opportunity for understanding part of the complex physical and biological environment in which human beings live. It introduces basic processes that influence the characteristics and spatial relationships of climate, water cycle and vegetation. The first part of the course examines the interactions of solar energy with the Earth's atmosphere and surface, and how atmospheric circulation, precipitation, and weather systems are generated. The second part of the course covers the cycling of water and other Earth resources within the living zone - the biosphere. It focuses on how these cycles, together with the flows of energy, influence the nature and distribution of ecosystems and vegetation. Throughout the course, students look at patterns of human activity that are in response to and have an effect upon environmental processes, and are asked to observe and interpret aspects of their local environment in light of what they have learned. or GEOG 200 Regional Geography of Canada This course examines the physical, human, and economic geography of Canada in a regional context. It focuses on the many interconnections and relationships between the different regions, between different areas in the regions, and between cities and the rural areas in each region. It also explores the distribution patterns of people, cultural groups, and economic activities to illustrate how the regions are part of larger interconnected systems (e.g., Canada, North America, or the Pacific Rim). The course is designed to promote an understanding of the similarities and differences between different areas across Canada and to develop students' skills in recognizing and analyzing the salient geographical features of those regions and the country as a whole. OR Geology GEOL 120: Introduction to Earth Science GEOL 120 is a one-semester, four-credit course that provides the equivalent of a first-year university or college geology or physical geography course. It studies the nature of the Earth and its development through time. GEOL120 examines the Earth's origins and composition, in addition to volcanoes, earthquakes, and development of the landscape over time by such processes as weathering, mass wasting, rivers, glaciers, wind, and waves. As the laboratory component of the course is integrated with the theoretical component, the credit earned upon completion of the course will be a lab science credit. This will provide a prerequisite credit needed for further studies in geology or geography as well as for many other areas, such as education and general arts, where lab science credits are required. Invitation help?????? My fiance is going to custom design the wedding invitations, but we're stumped on what to do. We are having both the reception and the ceremony at a friends house (It looks like the white house, closest description to compare it to). It is outdoors, and we are doing the ceremony on the front porch, the reception in a tent in the backyard. The land is landscaped, but I don't know what flowers will be in bloom (late may). We want a simple, outdoorsy, but elegant wedding...we are thinking light pink and gold as our colors... Anyone have any ideas for these invites? And also, what's the best way to tell everyone that the wedding is outside and to wear appropriate footwear? (suggestions here have swayed me from heels) Thanks so much!
What type of bike should I get, or NOT get? I am trying to determine ub advabce what type of riding I will do once I get my bike. Right now I do not have a bike; I am in the research stage. I do have some experience. I feel confident I can handle any type or size of bike. I am 49, if it matters. I do not think I would enjoy city driving. I live in a big city, btw (Denver). It's not that I am concerned about cars. Rather I hate the idea of sitting in traffic and baking in the sun. I hate traffic lights abd stop and go. I have mountains nearby, but I don't really care to go up to the mountains. I like the back roads mostly. The paved rural roads that go through farmland, or maybe exploration in the foothills. The bike I was most recently thinking about buying (only because it was a great deal) was a Ducati Monster 800cc. But that is a naked bike. Perhaps a naked bike isn't what I would want. Aren't naked bikes generally designed for city driving (because they don't have fairing) ? I want something fast (low end torque) and comfortable. I never intend to get above 80MPH. Are my riding landscapes well-suited for a cruiser? I have been looking primarily at sport bikes, ones with upright riding positions, as contrasted with a supersport, aka crotch rocket. So perhaps a sport bike with a full fairing would be a better choice than a cruiser. I don't want to lumber through turns. I want to feel sporty when I ride so I haven't given cruisers much of a look. please feel free to ad any other opinions. Thank you. ps.. my price range is preferrably around $4000/ I am sure a sport tourer would be ideal, but I cannot afford them.
Can someone give me a "virtual" guesstimate? I am getting 3 very different prices for some work to be done at my house. A garage that is "old school" is being torn down, and I'm pretty much cutting it down to about 2/3 of its original depth. The entire garage currently fits 1 car, not space for too much more, and not sure how much SF that is. I asked for a bid for: demolition of current foundation AND surrounding cement dumping of all demo work and other debris new garage foundation only (dirt areas will be landscaped in future) regular garage structure with standard grade wood frame and wood siding, about 8-9' tall? sheetrocked interior walls 2-3 electrical outlets + overhead light where there is currently NO electrical wiring custom-made wood doors for garage entry (not standard remote door, want this one to "slide" into sides of vertical walls, rustic look "cupola" - custom-designed piece on top for added "country" decor (this looks like a mini roof top like on a church) with some nice details, nothing too elaborate and instead of 4 plain sides or 4 hollow sides, I want them to have shutter type sides so there is ventilation space. I am paying for all the materials so I can choose what I want along the way. I am asking only for the labor on these bids. What would you charge if you have any knowledge of roughly how much this work should cost? I will Edit this question and add the bids I received after I see some prices from knowledgeable, serious responders. Thanks! I live in the Northern California Bay Area. I already have the estimates but one of them is from someone who I believe doesn't have that much experience. I am drifting in the open sea here as far as ME knowing what this should cost more or less. All I want is a ballpark figure from someone with experience in this. I don't need references to more bids! The answer I am looking for is: "This should cost you somewhere in the neighborhood of $7,000" (or whatever that key price range is). I've provided all the details for anyone who would know what this would cost to be able to answer my question. That's not very complicated. OK, Yahoo community. Maybe I asked this the wrong way. It's like if you paid 50 cents for an ice cream, and someone else paid $2 and someone else paid $5. You just want to know what the "average" cost of an ice cream is so you know what you're dealing with. Not more recommendations to ask someone else. I'm asking YOU. If you don't know how much this work costs, then please don't bother answering the question. Not interested in more bids. Thank you, anyway, for your suggestions, but they are not addressing my question of a ballpark cost for this work. I need an actual dollar amount.

I need art help please? 11. How did French Post-Impressionist artist Georges Seurat create a unique optical effect in A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte? (Points : 3) He used tenebrism, creating dramatic contrasts of dark and light. He used Pointillism, placing tiny dots of pure color on the canvas to create forms. He used atmospheric perspective to create the illusion of space and depth. He used Realism to depict figures and forms in basic geometric shapes. 12. Which statement best describes French Post-Impressionist painter Paul Cézanne's approach to painting? (Points : 3) He embraced Naturalist conventions of painting humans and nature exactly as he saw them. He used a muted color palette and smooth, regular brushstrokes to render natural forms. He painted with small dabs of pure color to capture the fleeting impression of what he saw. He carefully arranged his compositions, using patches of color to show the surface planes of an object. 13. How did Post-Impressionist artist Paul Gauguin convey emotion in Ia Orana Maria? (Points : 3) by focusing on subjects of everyday life by using complementary and analogous colors by using bold color and organic lines and shapes by making symbols the most important elements 14. How does Wheatfield with Crows by Post-Impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh show the threat of a coming storm? (Points : 3) The painting has the dramatic tenebrism of Baroque artist Caravaggio to highlight the objects. The painting uses the same intensely realistic colors as those of a storm that van Gogh observed. The painting has short, slashing brushstrokes in vibrant hues that intensify each other. The painting uses chiaroscuro, or a dramatic contrast in light and dark, to model the clouds. 15. How did Norwegian painter Edvard Munch incorporate Symbolist conventions into his painting The Scream? (Points : 3) Munch depicted a political event that appeals to the viewer's sense of patriotism. Munch used the pyramid configuration to anchor the figure within the composition. Munch used smooth brushstrokes to create carefully blended tonal values. Munch used the figure and the landscape to communicate personal feelings and ideas. 16. What is a distinguishing feature of Auguste Rodin's sculpture Burghers of Calais? (Points : 3) Identical facial expressions are seen in the figures. Movement and emotion are captured through textural variations. The pyramid configuration unifies the figures. The polished marble surface creates subtle highlights and shadows. 17. How did Louis Comfort Tiffany incorporate a convention of Art Nouveau in Magnolias and Irises? (Points : 3) Tiffany used nonrepresentational color that has symbolic meaning. Tiffany dabbed color in order to capture a quick impression of a subject. Tiffany used geometric lines and shapes that imitate machine-made goods. Tiffany used curvilinear lines and organic shapes drawn from the natural world. 18. Which sentence best describes the way that Art Nouveau architect Victor Horta designed the interior spaces of his buildings? (Points : 3) Horta oversaw every detail, from banisters to stained glass, to ensure a unified effect. Horta based his plan on the balance and harmony found in Neoclassical architecture. Horta designed the overall plan and relied on other artists to add finishing touches. Horta used lines and shapes from his imagination to create his designs. need help fast answer what u can thank you.
