Hhg Household Goods Knowledge Base
No household goods/car shipment to Hawaii? My USMC nephew is finishing school in San Diego and has immediate orders to Hawaii at the end of this month (his first duty station). His command there is telling him they will not ship his few household goods or his car over there because he's in a "student status" This sounds like total BS to me, but we did 23+ years in the Navy and don't know how different it is for the marines. He is married, surely they don't want them to go over there with no HHG or transportation, get a place off base and expect him to what? Buy a bike to get to work, her to go to school, commissary? Anybody know the rules on this?
Where is my household goods money from the Navy? I got out of the Navy on Feb 18th, and I did a self move. The Navy gave me 60% of the moving money up front, and I was told I would receive the other 40% after I moved and mailed back all the paperwork. I sent everything certified mail to Business Support Department FISCN HHG AUDIT TEAM DIV CODE 302 1968 GILBERT ST, SUITE 600 NORFOLK, VA 23511-3392 just as the paperwork told me to do. How long does it take them to process the paperwork, and when I can expect my other 40%?
Do i need a CDL for this set up? 2004 F250 - GVWR = 8,800lbs 38ft gooseneck enclosed cargo trailer = GVWR = 15,600lbs total GCVWR = 24,400lbs question of the day is its still under the texas limit of 26,000lbs but it does go over the 10,000 limit for vehicle or vehicles being towed. Does it even matter on the trailer GVWR if it does not exceed the total GVCWR of 26,000lbs? Im going to call DPS in the morning but sitting on hold is boring. Im in TEXAS if that helps, i know some states have diff. laws. Note: non-hazard no-16 peeps this will be used for a HHG (household goods) moving van. Much thanks! Yes this will be for money. It will be registered as a HHG moving trailer with TxDot. I have one registered with TxDot now but it is at the 10,000 limit and i never had to wonder about this. But the trailer WILL be registered with TxDot, however TxDot does not regulate weights only keeps track of carriers. So this brings be back to DPS for weight limits and licencing. So if the truck/trailer is under 26,000 GCVWR registered as a HHG vehicle and in a personal name not a biz name does this change anything?
