portrait innovations.? Is portrait innovations a good place to work? im interested in photography and i was wondering what portrait innovations is all about.
How long is a "promotional period" at Portrait Innovations? Portrait Innovations (a portrait studio) runs a $9.95 package special. According to the fine print, I can buy this special package "once per promotional period." I bought this package today. So, how long is a promotional period and when does the next one start?
How much can I expect to pay at Portrait Innovations? Im taking my Daughter to PI for her First B-Day pics this week and want to be prepared. I planned on spending about $100.00 at the original place before I found PI. Can I get a lot of pics for $100 or less? For anyone that has went there and spent about that much what all did you get? Are Cd's included with packages? Thanks in Advance!
Has anyone ever worked for Portrait Innovations? I am a recent graduate in photography and graphic design. I have been researching the company but not too many details. $30,000.00 - 37,250.00 USD /year plus Bonus? Is this really true? And is this based on salary or if you work FT hourly? How many hours per week do you have to work? Has your experience been a good one with the company? Thanks for your help and feel free to post additional information that I didn't ask. I want to know as much as possible!
Portrait Innovations... parents what do ya think? I am taking my little girl tomorrow to portrait innovations. I am just curious what you think about their pictures? Also do you have the option of bringing multiple outfits? I have about 4 outfits and I am just curious if they will let ya change? Thanks!!
Portrait Innovations or Clix? Im trying to decide where to get my daughters pictures taken at next...we have been to Portrait Innovations 3 times and really want to try Clix but I would like to know price wise where one stand than the other...I usually spend around 90.00 at P.I. and get close to 150 pics of varying sizes...how much and how many pics could you get at Clix for that amount?
Portrait Innovations - Do I get a CD? There is an AMAZING deal at Portrait Innovations. They offered so many pictures for $9.95 according to their site. www.portraitinnovations.com/special... Has anyone has good/bad experience with them? Is this some sort of typical salesman tatics? Please give me some reviews if you've used them before. Can you really walk out of their under $50 bucks? We are on a tight budget... How much does a CD cost? Can you buy just a CD? How's the quality? Thank you so much for your input.
who has been to portrait innovations? and do you just get the 9.95 pkg? I feel bad when pic people try to talk you into more, but i am doing pics every month so i can only get cheap pkg
Picture People or Portrait Innovations? I plan on taking my 6 month old son to take some studio pictures. Of the places in my area, I have narrowed it down to these two places. If you've been to either one, what are your opinions on them? Good? Bad? I seriously do not want Wal-Mart or Sears. I've been to both places and was not satisfied. The JCPenny where I live doesn't have a studio,
Portrait Innovations? Have you ever used them? What is their pricing like? I'm taking my son to get his first birthday pictures I usually go to JCPennys but I saw some from there and they were way cuter so I'm taking him there instead. I looked online but they didn't really have any prices. Does anybody have an idea? I'm wanting to get two different birthday poses and a Christmas pose or two. Thanks.
Anyone use portrait innovations? How much are individual sheets, and on the special 9.95 pkg can you pick any pose. Also what props do they have for 2 month olds or costumes etc...
Portrait Innovations question? Ok so Ive been there once when my daughter was 9m and trust me they are so much better that Picture People... Ive spent over a couple hundred dollars on like 10 pictures I have of her from birth through 6m. Ok well anyways I can't remember how you get the free cd, it's to late to call them and a friend of mine is going in the morning before we can call... and Im curious is it with buying the 9.95 package or is it for spending a certain amount of money... Im just trying to remember because she's curious what she should do and wondering if she wants to use hers or her husbands card if its gonna be a big purchase... Ok well get back to me soon and thanx a lot.
anyone had bad experience at portrait innovations? I took my son there to get his Xmas pictures done. He is 17 months old. He has developmental delays and does not walk and is not very coordinated and has a low attention span to boot. So I knew there was going to be no way he was going to be sitting on all kinds of props and doing all kinds of poses for 80 pictures. She got about 10 shots that were so so that I would have bought anyway, but he got sidetracked and wouldn't stop spinning one of the props and continue to get shots taken (he's being evaluated for autism). I told her of his issues and asked her could she cut me a break, I would buy at least 8 shots and I wasn't planning on just buying the 9.95 package. She told me she couldn't even show me the shots until she had at least 60 with three different backrounds and she could not cut me a break due to customer policy. I nicely told her I could go somewhere else, have them take 5 poses and buy them. She said she knew this, told me to reschedule or leave basically. I'm so mad, he was not being bratty or disruptive, but there was no point in me rescheduling because this is the way he is. Has anyone had this kind of inflexible BS at this portrait studio?
question about portrait innovations? we went there last week and got the free CD with all the pictures on there...next time I still want to get the free CD but not spend quite as much... Do any of you know what the minimum amount is that you have to spend and still be able to get the CD??
Portrait Innovations? Worth driving 45 miles? I had an extremely negative experience at Olan Mills Sunday and I am looking for a new place to do pictures. I like the $9.95 deal they have (One - 10 x 13, Two - 8 x 10s, Four - 5 x 7s, Four - 3 x 5s and 32 Wallets) but I know I will want more since they do so many poses.. Does anyone know how much the other packages are (specifically the six pose) and how much is included in that package? Also, I'm a bit nervous about the photo quality since they print them out right there. Are the pictures on the disc high-res? Anything else I need to know? Thanks! (BTW, I'm asking here because us moms are usually the ones worrying about this sort of thing haha)
Is the Portrait Innovations bonus for real? I have worked for PI for about 6 months now, and was promised a bonus at the end of the fiscal year because of my average, along with three other employees at my studio. It was supposed to pay out "some time towards the end of March" and it is now a week into April and there is no word. My manager has contacted the regional manager and she has no information on it, and the corporate office is being very shady about the whole issue. I wouldn't be surprised if they're waiting for everyone who has earned one to quit or drop low enough to be fired. I'm wondering, is there anyone out there who has actually recieved their bonus check? How long did it take for them to get to you? I'm planning a wedding, renovating a house, and trying to pay a 1700.00 vet bill. We were counting on this money to get ahead, and now we're falling behind. If it's not real, I need to know now. Does anyone have an answer?
Portrait Innovations and infants/toddlers..? How are they with infants/toddlers? My sister got her and her fiances done there and they turned out great! They are reasonably priced. Quick. While we were waiting I was being nosy and looking at other peoples pictures that were going through them on the computer and it looks like the childrens pictures turn out great as well. But, my question is: How are they patient wise? Position wise (as in they don't just use a couple props, have them sit in a couple positions, etc.)? How was your overall experience there?
If I bought the rights to some pictures of my daughter how do I make copies of them? My wife took my daughter to get her pictures made professionally. When she bought the picture package they offered her the rights to the pictures. She bought them and now we need more copies. Wal-Mart says I need a paper saying I own the rights. They also said that it should be on the disk somewhere but I don't really know what I am looking for. The studio was Portrait Innovations. If you can help I would be greatly appreciative! Thanks!
Portrait Innovation pricing? My fiance and I need to get our engagement pictures done and we also want to do family pictures with his kids. We're probably going to do the $9.95 package for the family pictures but how much is the pricing for other pictures after that? (i.e 8x10, 5x7, etc.)
What to wear for a family portrait in a studio? My daughter is turning two and I'm taking her to Portrait Innovation Studios to get her pictures taken, like we did when she turned one. At that time, we did family pictures too, and all of us (my husband, my daughter and I) wore jeans pants with black shirts. It came out really good. Now, we want to do the family portraits again, but this time my parents are going to be in the picture too, since they are moving away. I was looking for some ideas of what to wear in terms of color coordinating. I already have some idea of what to do and don't do. I need more specifics suggetions. It can either be casual or formal. Any suggestion will be appreciated! :) When I said I already know the dos and dont's I meant I know: - try to get clothing in the same shade of a certain color - solid color chothing
The best place for baby pictures? just wondering where you get the best deal from the chain places like jc penney's, sears, portrait innovations, etc... and are they good pictures? thanks in advance liz, those are great pictures! i just may have to try doing some myself. thanks
have you used this company for photographs? How was it? portrait innovations...i've heard some moms on here mention something about them and was just curious... what kind of pricing do they have? I know they have a special package right now that's like $10 but I'm just curious about what you paid for pictures and did you get a lot of pictures? oh, i'm sure that I would be spending more than just the $10...simply b/c I haven't gotten any professional pictures done (just the birth announcements from the hospital)...
Getting our pictures taken...what to wear? Hello! I am 21 and my sister is 16 and for a christmas gift to my parents we are getting our pictures taken. The last time we had our pictures taken together, in a studio setting, I was 15. I think we are getting them done at our local Portrait Innovations. What is your advice for us to wear? BTW I am a brunette with blonde highlights and she is a redhead...so we need something that is going to compliment both of our hair and skin colors. Any Advice?? Oh and these are more casual pictures...

picture cds? has anyone ever purchased a cd of their whole portrait session. If you have been to portrait innovations how much are theres. I know they take like 40 pics and i would love a cd with them. Can you put them on computer and print them?
Child/Family Pictures? Where do you like to go to have professional portraits made? How often do you get portraits of your family and/or children? In the past, we have used Sears and JC Penney. We tried Wal Mart twice, but the first time they refused to take the photos because my daughter would not wake and the second time the pictures were just BAD. We love Sears and Penney, but now we may use a place called Portrait Innovations because we have seen and heard great things about them. We are expecting our third child next month, and plan to have family portraits made this Christmas. We initially planned to do that yearly, but it has been several years since we had them done last. I usually just take a lot of candid photos.
Do you think this is childish? Honestly.? Ok so theres this place here called "Portrait Innovations" that looks like a really cool portrait studio. I really like getting my picture taken (i know call me childish, whatever) Anyway. I'm 16 and my boyfriend is 18 and I was thinking about going here to just get like a casual picture between the two of us done. I thought it would be really cute. If you could just explore the website for me and tell me what YOU think i should do that would be great. Thank you, Thank You, Thank you. <3 Kelly. www.portraitinnovations.com
Good price/deal or not?? I went to portrait innovations and got daughters3 month pics. I spent 89.49. The special package was9.95, with 10 by 13, two 8 by 10s, and 4 5 by 7s, four 3 by 5s, and36 wallets. Then I ordered 3 additional poses that came with 3 sheets size of your choice. I also got free pic cd, 6 free greeting cards with pic, and free 10 by 13 picture calender. So is 89.49 a good deal. I havent ever been there and never bought any additional packages at other places.
I need help editing photos!? Please!? Ok so we took photos at portrait innovations ( they did a great job by the way), included with our photos was a cd with all the pictures we had taken... but now that i want to upload them to facebook I realized they are unedited and rough .. so i was wondering does any body know what program i can use to edit them and make them look like the ones that were actually printed.. thanx in advance. thanks everybody .. im gonna check out a few of these thanx everyone great answers!
Trying to decide which one should I go with? Ok we just had our daughter July 7th and we are taking her in for newborn pictures. Plus we have an 18 month old son and I want to get his 18 month pictures, family pic, and sibling pic all on the same day. I don't know which place to choose though. I can go to jcpenney's and get the sheets for $3.99 (the pictures are usually ok it's sometimes hit and miss) then we can get extra mulit images separate if we want and I have a coupon for a free 8x10 and no sitting fees (we have a members card so it will cover all of us). OR I can go to portrait innovations only problem is that they do it a little different and you buy by the pose. So I could get 6 poses which is enough to get all the pictures I want. This would be about $110 all together. It comes with 2 special 10x13 multi image sheets plus of each of the 6 poses you get 3 sheets so I can get a sheet of wallets, 8x10, 3-5x7 or whatever. Only thing is I don't know if I will want 3 sheets of every pose. Then also you can get one of the poses the "special offer" so I would get a 10x13, 2-8x10, 4-5x7, 4-3x5, and 32 wallets plus 6 greeting cards. Plus you get a cd with all the picture on it but you can only print them there. As for JCP there CD is like $100 and you can print them yourself. Do you think the second place sounds like a better deal even though you have to get 3 sheets of each pose? Any advice from someone who has used both or a different idea would be great! Oh also at the second place you get your pictures that day, JCP you have to wait like 2-3 weeks. Yeah I don't think I could ever go to walmart again! My Mom wanted me to take my brother, sister, myself and my son last time since that is the only place in their town and the pictures freaking sucked! lol. I mean the lady was annoying to begin with and didn't know how to work with children. Then she never made time for us to view the pictures so my Mom had to call the corp office and complain and her boss picked "the best one" and sent a free package and it was an aweful picture. My son wasn't looking at the camera and I wasn't even smiling! Glad nobody actually paid for that ugly picture. We didn't even give them out! I like the picture from the second place but I like JCP cause you can pick as many poses and sheets of each that you want.
Need some ideas on what baby should wear? So I plan on taking my 6 month old son to take some studio pictures. Most likely we're going to Portrait Innovations. The problem is I don't know what he should wear. Yes, I know, he should wear clothes and a diaper. But I mean style-wise, how should I dress him up? I know I'm making quite a big deal out of it. I'm a first time mom and I'm just over excited and over worried about everything to do with my baby. Plus, if I'm going to pay for these pictures, I want him to look his best! How did you decide on what your baby should wear to take pictures?
2 year old birthday pictures tomorrow? My daughter will be 2 on Sunday and I am going to have pictures taken of her tomorrow (Christmas and Birthday pics) at Olan Mills. Last year, I went to Portrait Innovations and didnt get a single smile out of her. This year, she is a little more outgoing and likes to take pictures at home. Anyways, My question is: Do you have any tips on how to get her to smile or at least have a somewhat pleasant experience? Also, I scheduled the pictures for the morning (her happiest time) and Im going to make a big breakfast.
how often do you/do you plan to get professional pictures taken of your little one(s)? Right now we are figuring on once a year sometime around his birthday give or take a month or so...went today and got some really great pictures done at Portrait Innovations!! Came out with tons of pictures (about 15 or so poses) for a little less than twice the price as what we paid for 2, yes 2, poses at Sears...and the people were SOOOOOO much nicer there!! So how often do you get professiona pictures done?? we are all the time taking pictures with our smaller cannon digital cameras...so have tons of "candid" pictures...
What should we wear for pictures? Any Suggestions for prof. pictures really.? Me my fiance and my 2 month old son are getting pictures done in a week. I'm wondering what we should wear. What are good color combos. I'm thinking we will wear dark jeans and my son will wear black cord pants with a white shirt and ither a red, grey, or black vest. These are christmas pictures, but we don't want to be all decked out in christmas gear because we'll have christmas backrounds. What about shoes, should we wear black socks and take our shoes off? Any suggestions really for taking pictures would be great. If you have any makeup tips to, I'm really pale and would like to actually stand out in the pictures not just blend right in. We are getting them done at portrait innovations. we're all white, but I'm really white, practically see through lol. We all have pretty dark hair, my son with the hair he has it's dark. All have brown eyes.
good place to get pictures done? I am trying to find a good place to get pictures done. I went to portrait innovations and they are good but they cannot do what I want them to do for my daughter's pictures. I want to get one of her where the whole thing is black and white except for her dress. I don't want a place that is really expensive because we do not have a lot of money. We live in Omaha, NE. Or could I just buy a program for my computer and do the enhancement myself? I have enclosed a picture to kind of show you what I mean. http://www.searsportrait.com/NR/rdonlyres/16C8D61B-0485-4186-98D4-DA30181792D9/0/Prods_LG_color_accent.jpg I would also prefer to get a lot for my money which is why I do not like sears.
baby's pics in cleveland area? we want to have our girl's pics taken for her 1st b-day, last time we went to portrait innovations. i think their prices were ok, just want to see if there are any other suggestions? we had a total of 7 poses, the last 6 were 4 sheets each. the first pose was 1 10x13, 2- 8x10, 4- 5x7, 4- 3x5, 32 wallets and 6 cards. they also print out pics right then so you don't have o come back. i think we spent about $100. we live on the east side.
Take a picture of the three of us - ideas? So I've decided that since I really have NO pictures with my kids, that for Father's Day I will give my husband a picture of my kids and I taken at a studio. However, I only have Saturday to do it as he's gone for the day. And...now I'm seriously doubting my decision. My kids are 3 years and 9 months, and taking a picture of the two of them is amazingly complicated for TWO adults. I can't imagine just one. Next, no one is available to help out - no friends in the area, all family is busy until next Christmas. So it's just me. Any ideas how to help it go smoothly?! Also, any ideas of the best place to get it done? We can't go to a professional, though I would love to. We have a GREAT photographer who unfortunately doesn't have open appointments until next month. There's also the second tier - cheaper - Picture People, Picture Place, Portrait Innovations, etc. Then there's the third tier - cheapest and usually looks it - Target, Walmart, Sears, Penneys
What is the most you have spend on? pictures (at one time) and how many children do you have? I got my son's Christmas and first birthday pictures taken today and they were $117.77. I got a TON of pictures! 3sheets- 10x13 (2 are special effects) 8sheets-8x10 (3 have special boarders) 3sheets-3.5x5 (1 s.e.) 6sheets- 5x7 (2 s.e.) and 10sheets-wallets plus 6 greeting cards. Plus I also got a CD with all the pictures on it. I don't think the price was bad for how many pictures I got. Normally I don't spend that much but I got them taken at Portrait Innovations because it's his birthday pics and Christmas and I got them back the same day. Just curious also if you have more than one child do you get a group pic and then individual pics as well or not? I have a step-daughter and we were hoping to get both pictures taken but she was sick and time is running out (we have tried three other times too but none worked out). Next year there will be three kids (one on the way) and I have never got the pictures taken together yet so I was wondering should I get individual too or not? Not really a big deal just wondering for next year. Thanks. Also I want to do the pregnancy pics do you think it will be weird if my step-daughter is in them? I want the one where the kids hands are on the tummy or their head is like they are listening or giving a kiss.
Were women dirty, smelly and hairy before the 20th century? This is not a misogynistic question. I have often seen portraits of historical figures where they look stunning, but as I understand it modern hygiene practices (i.e. shaving, daily bathing with soap) are a comparatively recent innovation. So were women in the old west, medieval europe, etc. mustached and dirty by today's standards?
Is my text correct please? I am French, could you help me please to improve this text? "The development of the amateurs stimulates the industry of the cameras and significant surfaces and supports the innovations. The trade and the craft industry related to the portrait are not touched yet, quite to the contrary, the photographers of district taking care of work of laboratory of the amateurs. New businesses of amateurs are constituted." Thank you !
How does this text in English could be rewritten to sound more EnglisH...I am French? "Gradually, photography became more accessible, and between 1850 and 1870 the middle classes were able to practise photography and have their portraits made. Twenty years later, their children privilege the non-professional photography as a hobby. This democratization doesn't reach workers and still less the farming world which forms the essential of the French population. The arrival of Kodak apparatus made a true revolution. In 1888 George Eastman markets the first Kodak, which includes a roller of one hundred sights at the price of 25 dollars. This was in the United States but soon extended to the rest of the world. Success is immediate because the apparatus makes it possible to be delivered to the joys of the capture of the scene without having the constraint of laboratory work hitherto completed by the photographers themselves. It is enough to send the apparatus to Rochester where, for ten dollars, the photographs are developed and the apparatus reloaded with a new reel. The advertising slogan “Press on the button, we make the remainder” encompassed the new ambitions of the firm: to conquer a vast market beyond the enlightened amateurs. The development of the amateurs stimulates the industry of the cameras and significant surfaces and supports the innovations. The trade and the craft industry related to the portrait are not touched yet, quite to the contrary, the photographers of district taking care of work of laboratory of the amateurs. New businesses of amateurs are constituted." He is the text, thanks for helping

What do you think the next big thing is? Basically in my lifetime, i've seen the advent of television; telephones going from rotary dial to pushbutton to touchtone to cell to video; i have a satellite dish on my roof, and computer in my living room and a tv that's as thin as a painting portrait.. i can cook food without any fire; just stick it in a box and push a few buttons and poof ! - before water boils over an open flame, i have a hot plate of cooked meat... i don't even carry money or coins; anything i want, anywhere i go, i can get with a plastic card i slide thru a small machine..i can even get money out of the register if i want.... i don't even have to leave my house to shop... i can buy clothes, furniture and dinner right from my sofa.. i can watch movies that are in the theatre, every nite of the week, right in my livingroom, with no interuptions; while at the same time, i have another screen with an even sharper image, where i can talk to anyone almost anywhere in the world, and see them live whereever they are, while i'm talking to them.. this stuff may seem mundane to you, but only twenty years ago, the internet was some idea and computers were for geeks. fifty years ago, color tv was a luxury. thirty years ago, microwave ovens were dangerous and suspicious....and forty years ago, the robot on 'Lost in Space' was state of the art.. But, what will tomorrow bring? a tv you can roll up like a sheet of paper? Synthetic life forms made from synthetic cells?...the research is already underway for that, at the cellular level... Designer babies is already passe...what innovations in genome mapping will be put on the table?...that and stem cell research.....with the two of these put together, it seems logical that the human life expectancy can be doubled or tripled in this lifetime...with regeneration of new tissue and organs on demand; and more hardier tissue and organs, with a few tweaks up and down the double helix... What would you like to see before 2050?
"When Worlds Collide"........................details given below? In the article “When Worlds Collide” the opinions of three thinkers, Thomas Friedman, John Ralston Saul and Jeffery Sachs, are reviewed. Briefly describe the (3) three different solutions to today’s global inequities offered by Friedman, Saul and Sachs. (Approximate length of answer: 3 Paragraphs) THREE THINKERS OFFER THREE DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT SOLUTIONS TO TODAY'S GLOBAL INEQUITIES The Live 8 concerts, broadcast internationally to an estimated audience of three billion and dedicated to pressuring western political leaders to tackle poverty in Africa, dominated the headlines earlier this summer. For a while at least, the 10 shows, which relied on a global logistics team using advanced telecommunications technology, and on media outlet co-operation worldwide, appeared to strike a chord, and united citizens far and wide to support an undoubtedly important cause. But after the Pet Shop Boys took the stage in Moscow's Red Square, and after crowds swayed to Neil Young in Barrie, Ont., how much was there left to cheer about? Because, although it's easy to agree that ridding the world of poverty is a worthwhile goal, just how to achieve that goal is clearly a much thornier proposition. Against this backdrop, new books from three global thinkers, dedicated to understanding the world we live in and suggesting ways to create a more equitable planet, can be found on store shelves. Their recommendations, not surprisingly, are drastically different. While Thomas Friedman's The World is Flat: A Bnef History of the Twenty-first Century (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, $38.50), suggests that integration is the key to global prosperity, John Ralston Saul argues nearly the opposite in The Collapse of Globalism (Viking Canada, $36), proclaiming the death of globalism as a good thing and reasserting the need for national power. Meanwhile, Jeffrey Sachs's The End of Poverty (Penguin, $40) posits that if rich countries would just increase foreign aid budgets, abject poverty would be eliminated. None of these tomes makes for light summer reading, but the most compelling of the three is Friedman's. In The World is Flat, Friedman, a columnist for The New York Times, argues that, since the fall of the Berlin Wall, geopolitical change and technological innovations like PCs, the Internet and workflow software have resulted in an explosion of creative cross-border businesses and an increasingly "flat" playing field for commercial actors worldwide. Friedman's tidy description of the 10 flattening forces lays the groundwork for a provocative analysis of how America (and, by extension, Canada) can thrive in a world led by companies like HealthScribe India, a Bangalore-based firm that relies on satellites and digitization to provide transcription services for doctors working in the United States. While Friedman seems thoroughly convinced that greater trade and economic integration grows the global pie, upping standards of living everywhere and reducing the chances of war, the challenge lies in reconciling the benefits of a streamlined global marketplace with the immediate chaos that factors like outsourcing can cause locally. In Friedman's eyes, the rise of countries like India and China represents the beginning of an era in which the only way westerners can compete is by turning themselves into "untouchables"-people whose jobs cannot be outsourced. Friedman doesn't suggest the transition to a globalized economy-or a globalized society, for that matter-is straightforward. He acknowledges the difficulties of bridging cultural, political and legal divides, and the fact that, at times, the new world order produces absurd results. case-in-point: in 2003, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., an Indian consulting firm, won a multimillion-dollar contract to upgrade the claims-processing system of the unemployment department of the state of Indiana. The deal caused an uproar because, while it saved Indiana taxpayers US$8.1 million, it also cost local jobs. A modern conundrum. But Friedman's deep-seated belief that the forces of globalization are both desirable and unstoppable, and that intertwined economies are the great leveller, is a constant. The book's one weakness stems from Friedman's American bias. Despite his admiration for the flat world, he's adamant the U.S. ought to "dominate the twenty-first century the way it dominated the twentieth." But if collaboration is the key, why should anyone dominate? Meanwhile, in The Collapse ofGlobalism, Saul suggests that the trade liberalization mantra has run its course. He doesn't want privatization, deregulation, tax cuts or shrinking governments; nor, according to him, do the scholars and policy-makers who once sang their praises. Apparently awakened to the reality that market reforms alone do not provide peace and prosperity, the governing orthodoxy, he argues, now embraces details like democratic transition and the rule of law. Saul's key frustration is with people and institutions that advise that, as long as the commercial ties between countries are solid, everything else will fall into place. He goes on at some length about the importance of good governance and proposes a heightened focus on public goods as the only way to ensure justice for all. Moreover, Saul disagrees with the sentiment that borders should take a back seat to commerce. He points to recently reborn nation-states like Ukraine, Bulgaria and Latvia, whose people are reluctant to give an ounce of sovereignty over to a global system, and predicts the re-emergence of powerful nation-states as critical to the maintenance of a fair and balanced world. While Friedman and Saul view the world through very different lenses, they hold in common a tendency to focus on the West and BRIG countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China). In Sachs's The End of Poverty, the emphasis is reversed. Here, the American economist, who is also the director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, focuses on the poorest of the poor, laying out a bold, detailed plan for abolishing extreme global poverty by the year 202 5. Outlining the plight of the 1.1 billion people, most of them in Africa and Asia, who get by on, at most, one dollar a day, Sachs argues that if the wealthy world would pony up between US$135 billion and US$195 billion per year in foreign aid over the next 10 years, and continue giving for 10 years after that, abject poverty would be stamped out. He attributes entrenched poverty to geographical bad luck, poor infrastructure and poor health care, and dismisses corruption or culture as possible culprits. Sachs is a fan of free markets, but he argues that market forces alone are not enough to help, say, an isolated village in Kenya grow out of poverty. He suggests the key is investments in agricultural inputs, basic health, education, power, transportation, safe drinking water and telecommunications. Sachs's experience turning around stumbling economies is impressive. He's not shy about it, either-the first half of the book is an autobiography of sorts, detailing his accomplishments dictating monetary policy and fiscal restraint everywhere from Bolivia to China. Reading Sachs's carefully crafted plans, complete with diagrams and budgets, one wants to have faith in the theory-that if only our political leaders would fork over the cash, poverty could be eradicated. Yet it's hard to believe; the technocratic approach seems at odds with messy reality. Each author calls upon a different set of characters to prove his point. Friedman relies heavily on interviews with businessmen whose cross-border ventures are booming; Saul illustrates his perspective with historical examples and comments from politicians and World Bank types. Sachs, on the other hand, invokes personal anecdotes, academic studies, maps and photographs for impact. Ultimately, it doesn't seem like one book has nailed it. Instead, while addressing the common theme of global inequity, each volume shines a spotlight on a different corner of the complex global landscape. In this case, it's only by considering each approach that a full-colour portrait of our times is revealed, and the need to embrace a variety of strategies in order to set the best course exposed.
can somebody prof-ready this essay about TV regulation for me? Regulating TV viewers The American culture has a unique and interesting concept of what society should look like and what television is all about. Americans spend two to three hours a day watching TV. What dose this mean? It means companies will pay millions of dollar for a thirty- second ad just to get the audience to buy their products. With so much money generated in less then a minute, broadcasting company will have to contribute money into television shows. With more popular TV shows means that they can charge their client more money for television ad for that particular showing. With competition looming for higher rating there has been a serious step back into the admiration of what TV shows use to be like. In today television innovation, with more channel then you can count, networking companies are developing more innovated ways to attract audiences to watch a show for higher rating. But the new concept that was put into play in the 21st century has had a twisted effect on how our society evolved. In today’s entertainment world we are seeing more sex and violence in the mainstream of shows and movies. With this swift in the culture mainframe we need to have a more centralized regulation process of what can be shown on television. “The First Amendment sets up a clear-cut independence of press from government as the journalistic principle most vital to the American people. But the existing regulatory approach to broadcasting offers exactly the opposite formula: government guidance and government rules to protect the American people from independent journalism. The First Amendment idea and the regulation idea are mortal enemies.” says television journalist Bill Monroe observed in a 1984 speech The FCC (Federal Communication Commission) is in charge of regulating the flow of information and broadcasting networks. But there are some other few flaws on the independent government funded commission. It lacks some crucial authority and enforcement to regulate the mainstream of information that is being broadcast. The government should put more roles and legal rights into the FCC to better itself in regulating the flow of information, especially television and radio. The Federal government should have more control of the regulation and should incorporate the FCC into its inner branches. By giving more roles to the FCC, the government can better regulate network showing and audio recording from radios and satellites broadcasters. With violent and sexual sense more prevalent on television, broadcasting networks are introducing corruption into the minds of children. With shows such as nip/tuck and Desperate Housewives becoming increasingly popular due to its portrait of sex, drugs, and violent, and with more popular shows that involve those sorts of pagonistic viewpoints to attract audience members not to the shows itself but to live those kind of lifestyles. A study by Jeffrey Johnson a psychiatric at Columbia University, “found that 14-year-old boys who watched three hours or more of TV a day were about twice as likely as those who watches less then a hour a day to commit crime by early adulthood.” (Richard Land) The most variable group of television viewers are children and teens. “The average American child will witness 200,000 violent acts on television by age 18. TV violence sometimes begs for imitation because violence is often demonstrated and promoted as a fun and effective way to get what you want.” (Kids Health) By subjecting them to sex and violent we are putting a sophist mindset in their thinking and behaviour pattern to make them come to the conclusion that these types of behaviours are okay. Networking companies understand that in order to get higher rating you need to incorporate sex and violent into your shows. “Studies have shown that teens who watch lots of sexual content on TV are more likely to initiate intercourse or participate in other sexual activities earlier than peers who don't watch sexually explicit shows.” (Kids Health) The argument for the networking companies is that by subjecting them to government regulations the government are taking away their freedom of speech. The freedom of speech that the networking companies are talking about is the freedom to show soft-sex sense and more gruesome violence sense to their viewers. They know that a good portion of their audience are children and teenagers, but they still continue to show more embolic sense, which studies have shown to have negative effects on younger viewers. Government regulation is key to reducing the demagogy of networking companies over television viewers. The government proxy of the FCC will have sticker regulations on what is to be air on television. This will reduce the damages of expulsive materials shown on television that are variable to the younger audiences

I was the coordinator for PARROT club (student’s organization) organizing technical college events, and magazine releases. I won third Prize in Dance competition in IIT Sarang. For my B.E project, I decided to concentrate on mobile based mapping application based on J2ME Technology. The J2ME application living on the cell phone was used to communicate with the remote systems. Locations are expressed both as graphical and textual descriptions. The project examines the best way to allow real time, read only access, for remote, possibly non-technical users, to an information system. I also done a project PAWS that supports both process design and execution. It supports the aspects of adaptation, coupling design-time and runtime mechanisms in a global environment. An website was created for a an institution where each student and staff were provided a webpage and options available to design their webpage like the background color, upload picture, add templates etc. .I also underwent a 15-day training in BSNL.
