Where can i watch HGTV top ten amazing kitchens online? All i can find is the slide show. My mom wants to see it cause one of the homes is in our town. It was filmed in 2008 i think
How do they pick the houses for Spice Up My Kitchen on HGTV? As a long time fan of the HGTV channel I was interested to learn how they pick the kitchens they base the shows around. I am planning to renovate my kitchen and would love to somehow "submit" my renovation project for consideration. I understand most shows expect the homeowner to pay for the renovation and I am fine with that since we already have our budget in place.
Watching HGTV, kitchen appliance in Europe with porthole window in it. What is it? On House Hunters International, in Spain and England they had an appliance in the kitchen that has a porthole window in it. I was assuming it was a dishwasher but have not been able to find one like it. What is it?
how would you enter a contest that remodels your kitchen for you? like on HGTV? i WOULD LIKE TO ENTER MY MOM IN ONE OF THOSE CONTEST ON HGTV BUT I DONT KNOW HOW! SHE REALLY WANTS A NEW KITCHEN, SO IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO ENTER THAT WOULD BE GREAT!
RE: What does it take to feature your home remodeling on HGTV? I would like to remodel my kitchen but I have no creative sense and I need help in that department. Does anyone know how to get your remodeling featured on any of these HGTV shows?
How can I enter HGTV home makeover? My house is the ugliest in my neighborhood.? I have a house with ugly bathroom, ugly kitchen and old beat up kitchen cabinets, ugly outdoor, no closet space, no storage, tiny master bedroom among other problems. I would like to contact HGTV to help me with remodelling on a budget. How can I contact them? I don't get any contact info on their website.
Do those "crashed" rooms on HGTV really get renovated for FREE? I totally envy those people whose toilets, yards and kitchens get renovated in the HGTV Crashers show. Is the station actually giving away $20K per episode (not including manpower) to a lucky "crashee" or is it propaganda?
What was that HGTV show where they had the black leather table in that guys kitchen or dining room ...? All i remember is them like flipping the table over and stapling the black leather on it. This guy had moved into a really big house and all of his rooms were pretty much bare and he wanted to re-do his kitchen area i think.. okk well can you PLEASE tell me wat show this was on and if its online somewhere? thx!
Does anyone know what epoxy paint they used on Color Correction (HGTV) to paint the kitchen countertops? On Constance Ramos' show on HGTV, Color Correction, she painted over avocado colored kitchen tile countertops with a black epoxy. I would love to do the same for my kitchen but could not identify the product she used. It was in the episode titled "Gone Green." Does anyone know? Thanks!
How accurate are HGTV improvement predictions? One of the shows has a realtor going around saying things like "the $4,000 you put into your bathroom will get you $10,000 in return." I don't see how in the world they can quantify such things. All properties are unique. Many "experts" are saying updated kitchens and baths do not get you more money, but they allow you to sell your homes quicker. How can they be so precise?
something I saw on HGTV Spice Kitchen? The episode that is on February 12, they are redoing a kitchen that has a refrigerator like nothing I have ever seen before! It reminds me of a Hoosier- anyone know what this is called, the manufacturer etc? Here is the link to the episode, and the appliance is way in the back on the left- double doors on top, then a counter, then a freezer drawer... http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows_hsumk/episode/0,3145,HGTV_29056_50287,00.html
What is the brand on the air freshener commercial on HGTV? They pick 2 ladies off the street and blind fold them. They take them into a dirty kitchen and make them identify what they smell. Neither lady has a clue that they are in a dirty kitchen.
Who pays for home renovations on HGTV? Like on this show "spice up my kitchen" and others like that. Does hgtv fund this, or the homeowners?
Where can I find vinyl click-in tiles? Saw it on HGTV show Designed to Sell with Clive/Taniya I believe.? I have searched hgtv and the web. Does anyone have any experience with them? They were used in a kitchen in the show.
How do you make cabinets look like this? I have plain white cabinets and love how these cabinets look in this kitchen picture. http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/designers_portfolio/portfolio/0,2159,HGTV_16257_1913,00.html?searchType=Portfolio&Room=DP+KITCHENS&Style=&Designer=&SearchPositionIndex=19 Does anyone know an easy low cost way to make my cabinets look like that? They aren't just white there is a darker color in the indented parts.
Re hgtv designed to sell show on today? I love the mosaic tiles in the kitchen on the counter and backsplash and love the paint colors in the kitchen but when I went to the web site and clicked on the show there is no link to find out the paint colors or the tile. Most of the time you can see the products.Where can I find that?
Are there 'acrylic' counter tops for kitchens? Are they the same as laminated? If...? ...not, what are they? Where can I see examples? Are they the 'Formica' and they have changed the name? I saw the kitchen design show on HGTV last night and they installed the 'acrylic' type. I have not heard that term used for counter tops before so am wondering what they are. Can someone explain what they are and how they compare to laminated or Formica counter tops? Give me a website to see them, please? Thanks
How do I pull off a grape theme(green & purple) in my purple kitchen? My husband and I recently bought our first home. We plan on completely refacing the cabinets& redoing the floors, but for now we are starting small. My favorite color is purple, so I painted my kitchen purple. The colors are actually Plum Frost(walls) & Zinfandel (accent-top lip above cabinets only) by Behr. I want to decorate the room with green and purple grapes. I want the room to be warm & inviting. (If you need to see pictures of the kitchen go to HGTV.com's Rate My Space under MrsDAB.)
The Property Brothers on HGTV, do total make overs or just what is shown on TV; why not a complete make over? On the show Property Brothers which I enjoy watching, however they never show a completed home.. only portion of it.. If a couple wants bedrooms, kitchen and game room.. why only show some of it and not the entire make over.. Or is it only those rooms which are made over?
How difficult is it to work with black gas piping? I have a project where I need to have a lot of gas pipe re-routed. How difficult is this to do myself? Will I need to take pipes to the store to have them threaded? I know that all gas pipe works by screwing threads rather than soldering, like water pipes. I'm watching Kitchen Impossible on HGTV right now, and they showed guys working with gas pipe to run a gas line for a new stove top. They were using two pipe wrenches.
what color to paint my cabinets in the kitchen if I paint the walls latte? latte is a well the color of latte.lol don't want the cabinets to stand out cause they are not too great.Should I go with a shade darker of the same.I am putting up cobalt blue valances any help would be appreciated.Latte is by sherwin williams. On hgtv spice up my kitchen lauren lake used cherry wood cabinets which i can't afford and a cobalt blue backsplash
Who else gets disgusted watching HGTV house hunters and the buyers say? oh my this bathroom and kitchen needs updating or this carpet will have to be replaced by hardwoods. We have to have a walk in closet or buy a damn house judged only by how much room rover will have to play and will rover will need a fenced in yard I'm no animal hater but omg this is sickening. If a kitchen or bathroom is functioning and clean what is the problem

I wanted to sign us up for " Divine Design" if any of you have heard about it. But I visited the hgtv website and was exactly sure how. Can someone help :p?
How do you enter yourself in a decorating show? For my mom's birthday I want to try and enter us in to a HGTV show to re-do our kitchen. How do I try to enter us? P.S. we're Canadian so it has to be a canadian show... Please help because I really wanna do this for my mom because our kitchen is very dated.
On kitchen cabinets, can you put gel stain on top of oil-based paint? I saw a show on HGTV or DIY where they painted kitchen cabinets a dark chocolate brown oil based paint. Once the paint was dry, they painted on a gel stain as the top coat. The cabinets came out very dark brown, and looked like modern espresso. I haven't been able to find this online anywhere, but does anyone know if you can put a gel stain over oil based paint? Are there any ramifications, or any other things to be aware of?
Wanting to know the name of the stone kitchen backsplash by Walker Zanger used on HGTV--Red Hot and Green.? I believe it was used on the show "Red Hot and Green". I know it is made by Walker Zanger--just can't find the actual stone or name on the website.
How long does it take to remodel a kitchen? My boyfriend and his brother are remodeling his brothers kitchen. They have everything there that they need already and it just needs to be installed. He's been over there all day everyday for the past week installing cabinets and he's trying to tell me that they still aren't finished with it. He also tried telling me that it took them all night (about 7 hours) to install the microwave over the oven. I watch the shows on TLC and HGTV, but that's about as much as I know about remodeling. Does it really take this long to do all of that or is he lying to me trying to make me feel sorry for him for working so hard all day and night?
Anyone know anything about thinner granite countertops? I saw on a show on HGTV where they were re-doing a kitchen and they used granite for the countertops, but the countertops were only a fraction of normal granite tops. It seems like its almost a veneer covering and its way less expensive. I dont know where to go for a quote or any additional information. Is there a good website?
Does HGTV only remodel homes in Los Angeles? Or will they travel to your state if you are chosen to be on the show? I was trying to find a section that I quality for so that I can enter & hopefully get my kitchen fixed up but they all say "looking for Los Angeles home owners" Do you know if they will make an exception if they really feel you need the help? I live in Tennessee
How do I clean stubborn oil on kitchen walls? I live in an apartment and the kitchen wall is getting oily. Some of the oils are getting dry and yellow. 409 spray does not seem to work. I tried concentrated Lysol (degreaser). It did not really help. I remember seeing on an HGTV or TLC show that there is a solution to clean this but I am worried it might strip the paint. Please help! Thanks!!!!!!
Is it just me, or is anyone else borderline addicted to HGTV? my favorite shows: Spice Up My Kitchen, Myles of Style, Divine Design, Hidden Potential, Curb Appeal and David Bromstad's show (can't think of the name right now)......
How to apply epoxy grout countertops? MY wife saw this on HGTV, and wanted to try it out on our kitchen island. They say it was really easy to do, but I'm not so sure. All they say is sand the countertop and apply the grout. After 24 hrs, sand the countertop again & your done. They don't say what thickness to use, and how to keep it level across the countertop.
If my quartz countertop comes cracked, should I refuse installation? I'm getting my countertop today installed in my kitchen. The slab around the sink isn't too big and there are no corners. I've seen stories on HGTV of installers accidentally cracking it around the thinners areas around the sink. If his happens today, and it gets cracked during installation or from delivery, should I refuse it and demand a new piece? Thanks.
Do home improvements really add value? You see it on HGTV and elswhere on TV. "Upgrade your kitchen and recoup 98% of the investment!" "Repaint the exterior and recoup 120% of the investment!" The list goes on. Has anyone actually checked to see if you really do recoup home improvement investment in the form of higher resale value? How can you really be sure, because it's not like you actually get two appraisals from an appraiser, one for before improvement and the other for after improvement. Or is this a conspiracy by home centers? I understand what all of you are saying, and I have heard it before. But where's the proof? Does anyone know how such data were actually obtained?
How do I get a home improvement show to pick my house? my fiance and i recently purchased a house that needs some renovation. We love watching home improvement shows on channels such as HGTV and wanted to know how they pick their project houses. We need to renovate our dining room and kitchen and would love our renovations to be one of their projects. Does anyone know if you can contact them and submit your project or if they just rely on location scouts? thanks!
Is there any way to paint a white refrigerator black, and/or other appliances? I wish to change my dull white appliances in my kitchen to black but I can not afford to buy all new or used appliances. I have seen on HGTV that it is possible to paint a refrigerator but I am not sure how that would look, feel, or even if the paint job would last with cleaning. Hopefully you all can help.
What are some good craft/decorating magazines and/or websites? i'm 11 turning 12 and i'm looking for some good craft/decorating magazines - any suggestions? i'm talking about thing like making your own pictures frames, cool, simple and cheap ideas to decorate your room, etc. not actually "paper crafts", just more like decorative idea magazines that KIDS can do, not with adult ideas like "remodeling your kitchen", if you get what i mean. im looking for magazines, but a website would be great, too. but im looking for something other than american girl or house beautiful. or HGTV. please help! thanks! p.s. kind of like simple DIY projects to decorate your room, or DIY projects to make cute crafts!!
Seniors, when you purchased your first house, did you expect it to be move-in ready? I am referring to the buyers I've seen on HGTV who expect to buy a house with a deluxe kitchen with stainless steel, bath, exquisite backyard, etc. Don't couples today want to select items that reflect their taste? Have they no imagination? I expect the house to be clean and neat, inside and out and the fixtures (electrical, furnace, air conditioner, washer/dryer,etc, to work properly. I am not talking about the very well-to-do.
What would cause my kitchen faucet to have a large sound and flow of water stop when turned on? Hot or cold water, when the handle is turned on, there is a loud studdering noise and the water will stop, I may have to turn on and off a few times to get it to go. Some time back seen a show on HGTV about repairs and it showed about this but I have no idea what it is. It has progressed and now I need to fix it, we try to handle repairs ourselves so if anyone can help me please do.
How to install new track lighting and light fixture.? My husband and I have never installed any type of light fixture before. We just bought a house with a large kitchen. There is only one celing fan in the middle. We would like to put track lighting in by the stove and prep area and some sort of celing fixture over the kitchen table. Is it very complicated to install new fixtures? It always looks easy on HGTV, but I know those are professionals.
Looking to install a garage door connecting kitchen to deck. Anyone know how to search for these? I recently saw an episode on HGTV of a house that had a garage door on the second floor connecting a living space to a balcony. I would like to do the similar thing in my place but finding information on this is proving to be difficult. Does anyone know where I can look? Also, what type of issues should I keep in mind on this project?

on hgtv I saw a show where they redid the homeowners laminate countertops to look like stone...? I've looked on the hgtv website and can't find the products used. It was an episode where they were decorating the kitchen with a tuscan theme and they redid the laminates with a product that made them look like green stone counters. Was wondering if anyone knew how to do this or what products I should use.... They didn't replace the countertops or tile them... it was a coating that they put over the existing countertops. I think they said that it cost around $300.00 to do the whole kitchen.
how to apply concrete overlay to countertops? I saw on HGTV someone applied a concrete overlay on a bathroom counter. I want to do that on my kitchen counter tops, but I need to know what products to use.
What do you think about the direction HGTV programming has taken? HGTV used to be about creating personalized lifestyles, about getting your hands dirty in gardens you intend to watch mature from inside homes that reflected your character. Now, it's curb appeal, increasing the market value of your home, squeezing every last cent out of prospective buyers, & turning your home into an ATM instead of building equity so that your home will always be your soft place to fall. It's about what people will pay for 300 square feet in New York City, couples in crisis because they can't manage a bath remodel for less than $30,000, a kitchen remodel for less than $100,000, & newlyweds who can't find their dream home on a "budget" of $400,000.00. Landscaping is not gardening. Copying is not decorating. It's a leap to say that HGTV's exploitation of a homeowner's desire to turn a buck is responsible for the housing crisis in this country but, hey, sometimes the tail does wag the dog. That's my take, what's yours? Did everyone catch Saaanen's brilliant comment? Was looking for opinions about the current programming idylls of HGTV not remedies from latent three year olds.

VA loan, cheap house, work question - maybe I watch too much HGTV but this is a dream of mine? I have 18 months left in the service and I'm seriously thinking about buying a home and would appreciate some advice or tales of experience here. I can't wrap my head around renting for a few years and throwing all that money away, to be honest, and a goal of mine has always been to own my own home. I'm looking at living in SE Pennsylvania, ideally in Philadelphia and working and going to school on my GI Bill. I've looked and keep running across fixer-uppers or outdated homes for the price of a new car. I'd like to get a loan for 50k for a ten or 15 year period (even with a low credit score, the monthly payments are around $650, which is manageable even with a part time job). 35k would go toward purchase of the house, with 10-15k set aside for repairs, new roof, flooring, kitchen or bathroom, new water heater, etc. As long as the place is liveable and the repairs mostly cosmetic, I wouldn't mind living floorless or wall-less for a while and doing some work myself. I understand HGTV makes it look much easier than real life, haha. Also, my motivation here is not to "flip" a house or make some ridiculous profit in a short time, but to create a home. Is this feasible? What problems do you see in the plan? Have you done anything like this? Thanks! Thanks! This would be my first time around with real estate - so I expect there are a LOT of things I don't know. Please keep the great input flowing - I'm learning. :) Ideally, I'll be saving for a down payment and emergency fund over the next 18 months. tag-on Question: Is a home loan given for the value of the house, or for a set amount? Could you theoretically borrow 80k and put 60k toward renovations on a 20k house?
help with my kitchen please- what color do I paint over the peach? http://ratemyspace.hgtv.com/SNC/ViewItem.aspx?pguid=6db6be3f-1720-4ba3-a081-999042c09b6b&itemguid=1069af13-54ad-4545-a554-8f20db2210b0 The curtain is down, the rug is gone- I hate orange tones, what do I do now? what color? Sun porch is off to the left with mexican tile. remember when answering that the sky mural is a turquoise color, the living room a raisan color, and the connecting kitchen and dining area are yellow/gold. my old kitchen was also the raisan brown
What does it mean to entertain people in your house? read q for more detail? when watching the HGTV channel, home buyers might usually say "yea we can definitely entertain with this kitchen" or "we can definitely entertain with this living room" what does it mean to entertain?! (housewise)
Need to find decorating website where you can save favorite pictures? I did a lot of searching on some website where you could choose style (traditional, contemporary, cottage, etc) and room (kitchen, bath, living, office). Then I saved all my favorites....now many months later, I can't recall the website. I have ruled out bhg.com and hgtv.com. Anyone have other ideas which to check? Thanks!!!!!!!!
Have you ever painted over a laminate countertop? How kid friendly and durable was it? I know this is the parenting section but since I have kids who will probably bang into it and spill stuff on it I thought this would be the best place to ask. I have a really old house, and am trying to slowely revamp it. The kitchen counters are that ugly laminate with the gold flakes in it, so I want to paint over it. I know that there is a way to do this, cause I saw it once on HGTV, but I dont really remember how they did it. I just bought latex paint and a semi-gloss topcoat to go on top and thought that if I put about 2-3 coats of the top coat on it, it would be durable. The can says that it is durable, chip and water resistant. Have you ever done this and how did it work for you?
Why do Kitchens cost so much to renovate? I was watching HGTV and it said it costs $40k on average to renovate! :O What exactly brings it that high? I mean, how much could some wood for the cabinets and some tile for the floor and a counter cost?
i am wondering if anyone has ever heard of putting a silicone based coating over my kitchen floor? To prevent having to regrout. I have seen this application before on HGTV, and wanted to know if anyone has ever heard of doing this or have done it and could tell me how to do it. Thanks!
Did anyone watch HGTV last nite around.. 8pm ish? i believe is was called spice up my kitchen. where the decorator went into this couples kitchen that had already started demolishing it (ceiling had holes)- im trying to find out what color of paint she used... it was two colors - she refered to them as "sunrise and sunset" and it had white crown molding (sp?) seperating them.. how can i find the actual name of the color of paint? i dont have the names, thats what i need.. she only refered to them as sunrise and sunset...
if we have a warm home, food to eat,our health, electricity and running water what more do we need I ask greedy? americans.I watch house hunters on hgtv and those people on there make me ashamed of being an american.Comments like this is going to need updating, not enough yard for the dogs, kitchen not big enough,oh my no jet tub,oh no closet not big enough for all my stuff.
ok , honestly... Would it look tacky if I only installed hardwood flooring in the living room and hallway ? My small 928 square foot home is a 2 small bedroom , office and 1 bath home is my love but watching HGTV is making me dream !!! And crazy due to a smaller than usual bankroll. Would it look dated or odd to only do hardwood flooring in the living room and hall way. I have awesome laminate in the kitchen and bathroom. Would it look like the flooring dept. at home depot exploded in my home? HELP!!!????
Changing the color of wood in an inexpensive way? I saw on HGTV that you can spray paint wood another color. My bathroom cabinet is so outdated. I wanted to spray the handles from gold to silver and change the color of the light wood to a darker color. sort of like this kind of color: http://www.housetohome.co.uk/imageBank/d/dark-wood-kitchen.jpg I am inexperienced with this and do not have a lot of money. so is there a way to do this?
I need inexpensive creative ideas to perk up my new bland spec house.? I am buying a spec house. It is very basic and bland. I haven't used the creative part of my brain for so long that I am having trouble coming up with ideas. I have been watching hgtv for the past few days and it all seems way over my budget. I have seen a few good ideas though. I have some pictures of the interior on my 360.yahoo.com/cky_1965 page of the kitchen, dining room, and living room. I also have a family room and billiards room to decorate once I finish sheet rocking it. I do not have furniture yet for the dining room and living room on the main level. The furniture I have for the family room is black leather. Was thinking about a black and white theme for the family room with some silver highlights. Any ideas would be greatly appriciated and links to pictures would be more appriciated. I am thinking about light pink, yellows, greens and blues for my baby girls room and blues or greens for my 9yo boys room. I have a limited budget of about 10,000 for decorating The kitchen, dining room, and living room are all open to each other so I'm guessing I should go with the same color scheme in each room but any ideas are appriciated. The pictures are on the blog
Good idea? Or cheap looking? http://www.hgtv.com/kitchens/clever-kitchen-ideas-easy-backsplash/index.html
Painting my ceiling white. for a small kitchen? I would like to know the crystals that are added to paint to make it shiney so the room seem brighter. I have seen them on HGTV but can't find out about them on the site. Thank you. Thanks there are crystals so you don't have to go high gloss, just can't seem to find a paint store or HGTV to help. Not sure about 3 in one though? Meaning what please? Thanks. I will give Lowes a try! thanks I was hoping I did not dream that there was an additive to the paints! Great!
looking for a wharhouse you can get cheap knobs...? I am so frustarted...How come ll the people on HGTV can find all these discount warehouses? We are looking for stainless steel knobs for our kitchen and chrome for our bathroom...can't find any of those places, and Lowes etc. are very pricey. Does anyone know of any places in so cal like that or on-line? Please help! Thanks!
Kitchen from Rate My Space episode last night.? I saw a kitchen I want to see more of on Rate My Space last night. The episode was called "Living Room Dilemma" Season 1, Episode 2. The problem is that I can't find the pictures on HGTV.com\ratemyspace. I wanted to know if anyone has found the kitchen that was in that episode. Thanks for the help
anyone heard of composite kitchen countertops that fit over existing countertops? if so r they expensive and where do you purchase them.Saw on HGTV.
Barry on Hgtv's Hidden Potential? Ok am I the only one, or isn't the concept of this show kinda dumb? People are buying old fixer uppers just to redo it....that part doesn't bother me...but the fact that Barry Woods comes up with these expensive ass prices to remodel rooms in the homes. The architect/designer Paige seems more reasonable with her estimates. She would stay way under the persons budget. Barry on the other hand moves kitchen and bathrooms, and its just ridiculous to me. His hand movements also annoy me...sometimes the potential homeowners look real disappointed with the estimates he presents to them.
Rock wall inside home? Know of any links or picks? Have you seen or installed? Looking to put a low profile rock wall on my two kitchen walls, but dont know where to find it. Any ideas? Do you know where i can find picks of what an indoor rock wall looks like? I looked at hgtv.com and diynetworks.com and didnt see anything. Any help is appreciated!!!

I'm wanting to make some kitchen art that looks like desserts and I've seen on HGTV one designer used some paint that was thick and fluffy that looked just like cake frosting and I want to know what kind of paint would I use to reach that effect. I'm wanting to make the frosting on cupcakes and cakes look 3D compared to the rest of my artwork it looked like thick fudgy frosting
Suggestions for kitchen cabinets (color and style). ??? In the stages of designing the kitchen for our new home. It is a galley style kitchen. The dining area extends past the kitchen area and I don't want to put any type of bar for eating on the ends of the cabinets. I feel this will only close the area. Since the kitchen/eating and greatroom are an open floor plan, I will be using hardwood through this entire area. I am leaning toward the french cream with a glaze. It will be a small kitchen. So my cabinets will have to be designed to utilize space very efficiently. I will not be able have many upper wall cabinets, and I would like to use glass doors on a few doors to "dress-up" the look. If you can suggest a website to design a kitchen, that would be great. (not the hgtv one, it doesn't help me) Countertop colors??? I will probably use a granite.
Remodeling, Redecorating question! Help!? My husband and I are looking for an economical way to update our kitchen. I saw on HGTV they used a laminated stainless-steel look sheeting to cover the appliances, which looked great. We thought of doing this to our countertops. Does anyone know of any websites about this, or have any information on it? I've heard of real stainless steel counters causing problems with grounding electrical appliances. Is this true? Help! lol
design/remodeling computer software? my boyfriend and I are always remodeling our house and knocking down walls. he also flips houses. so our question is what is the best computer software for redesigning. he has his degree in autocad but we would like something similar to what you see on the HGTV shows like "Hidden Potential" and "Spice up my Kitchen". If you have a favorite home design software I'd love to know what it is!! Thank you! still not getting a good answer. please give me names...
How would you describe this in a book? Picture included? How would you describe these two kitchen's in a book. First kitchen: http://img.hgtv.com/HGTV/2008/09/29/kitchen-transitional-jennifer-nilsen_lead.jpg Second kitchen: http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_CA/complete_kitchen_guide/kitchen1.gif Thanks a lot if you can help. I suck at describing things. And I just need one, so pick the one you like too, THanks in advance.
Tile backsplash? I saw tiles on HGTV once for a bathroom (I want to use them for a kitchen backsplash) they are small tiles but they are attached to each other by a piece of mesh on the back, and you just peel the paper off the back and slap it on the wall, then grout over it. What are these, where can I find it, etc?
are homes in other countries ALL like this? I watch HGTV House hunters international ALL THE TIME!! They go to "europe" and "Baja" a lot. It seems like the european homes are all kid of gross! Some are REALLY small and look like cracked cement walls, and floors, rotten gardens, TINY OLD kitchens, and with old windows they say "oh, how nice!" I'm thinking "are you shitting me? get me the hell out!" and the ones in Baja are ALWAYS condos, with UGLY brown tile, and smal kitchens that are updated, but the rest of the house is NOT... is this realistic????
Renovating Oak Cabinets? We have oak cabinets in the bathroom and kitchen (small kitchen). I always see on HGTV where the designers paint oak cabinets to quickly update a kitchen/bathroom. I like those bathroom sink vanities that look like dark furniture with brushed chrome handles (usually they have those nifty bowl or farm sinks too) but if I restained the oak, won't it just look like my old cabinets in a darker stain (no updated at all)? And what is the general feeling about painting oak cabinets in the kitchen--seems like a waste of money (the oak was expensive) but I can't afford to buy new cupboards (and I hate the kitchen anyway).
Good idea? Or cheap looking? http://www.hgtv.com/kitchens/clever-kitchen-ideas-easy-backsplash/index.html
O.K. Home decorators ( pro and Wannabe )? moveing into a small 2 br condo ..all carperted, small tile kitchen, any Ideas on how to make it look BIGGER in appearance with Modern / southeastern Flair .... I do watch HGTV and DIY but, would really appreciate YOUR opion on decorating ..
Canopy valance for my kitchen? Here is what I'm talking about ...http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dc_windows_valances_swags/article/0,,HGTV_3544_1389143,00.html I love the look of a canaopy valance . It kind of gives a look of an outdoor cafe . I would love to find a site where I could buy one to match my kitchen but can't seem to find anything . All I can find is the one above which shows you how to sew one and I'm not crafty . If anyone has any ideas I'd so much appreciate it ! :)
Kitchen cabinets - does painting them hurt resale value? I'm a young professional and bought my first place - a condo - in january. The kitchen cabinets are the cheap sort the builders put in - oak-ish, too lightweight to be solid, and kind of plain. In my personal opinion, they're really ugly. However, I only plan on living here 2 or 3 years, so I don't want to (and can't afford to) sink too much money into a kitchen remodel. I've been thinking of painting the cabinets to make them look better (to me) and installing some knobs or handles. My mom thinks buyers want wood cabinets, though, and says I shouldn't do it. But, I'm seeing lots of painted cabinets on HGTV, decorating magazines, and in upscale homes. Does anyone have any opinions on this? Is it possible to just buy new doors for the cabinets, inexpensively? Thanks for the input!
Kitchen Remodel: how to find a designer to figure out floorplan? My parents want to enclose their 1-car garage and make it part of the house. Part of this remodel will include re-doing the kitchen, laundry, and creating another living space. They could really use someone to show them what's possible with the space they have - similar to the HGTV shows that give you 3 options at different price ranges. They live near Nashville, TN. Only catch is they aren't mega rich - how much would this type of design service cost? More or less than $2K? And where can they find someone who does this, as opposed to interior design on existing structure? Thanks! Sorry - I didn't mean $2,000 for the whole project! Just for a consultation and a few floorplan drawing options from a designer. They have much more to spend on the actual construction!
Anyone have some good techniques for covering god-awful kitchen countertops? Rental. god-awful landlord too!? I live in a rental with some really annoying "issues"... its the little things that bug you, having to hold the toilet lever when flushing, grout on the tiles, lousy workmanship and a godawful kitchen counter and sink. I keep waiting to find a sink cheap on Craigslist, of course the super will tell me he doesn't have time to do it for months and months. Anyway I want to do something about the really old yellow laminate countertops that are stained and "knifed." I've seen peel and stick floor tiles done on HGTV but I keep wondering what about the cracks in between, won't food get in there? Painting... I haven't been able to find melamine paint (and I really dislike painting. give me glue and I'm ok, painting I make a big mess) Anyway cheap and easy are the watchwords as I'm pushing 60 (&loving it) and I have to do it myself, and am on an extremely limited budget. Any ideas? Thanks!
Whats your favorite TV show? I love Prison Break. I also like Criminal Minds, Lost, Greys Anatomy, CSI and Without a Trace. I also love HGTV. House Hunters, Flip this House, Property Ladder, My Home is Worth How Much, Moving Up, Kitchen Renovations......
granite countertops? anyone knows where I can get granite slabs for cheap because my kitchen is not that big and I am upgrading. please tell me where i can get granite for cheap. I have seen on HGTV where they get granite countertops for $450
What color should I paint my walls? I'm having trouble on picking colors that will flow from room to room. I live in an apartment and would like to paint the walls. When you enter the foyer you can see the living room, kitchen and dining room. I would say my style is contemporary. I want the apartment to look chic and glam but classy and sophisticated at the same time. In the living room I have blue furniture (royal blue) with black and white accessories. For the kitchen I was thinking a bright green. I really like the "Kelly Green" I found on the HGTV website. Maybe, even an acid-green and bring in white and black accessories to tie it in with the living room. The apartment has white appliances, dark counter tops (corian I think?), light colored wood cabinets, and a medium color wood floor. Or, I would like to paint the kitchen red (I'm really open to anything). In the dining room I have a huge sunburst mirror with gold trim and I would like to design around that. I like gold and bronze colored walls but in the living room I have silver and black lamps and silver on the coffee table and side tables. I also don't know what to paint the living room walls. I was leaning towards a light gray but I don't think it will look good if I do green in the kitchen... HELP!
Just 4 fun, can you write a MYSTERY that includes at least 5 of these lines? 1. The deranged butler whistled a merry tune as he skipped out of the room. 2. I know! Let's have a seance! 3. I think we are in a real pickle..... My name is Helga...... I don't work Thursdays. 4. Now let's see.....a dead body is in the conservatory, paintings have been stolen and the gardener is talking to the pansies. 5. HGTV refused to showcase this house.... something about spooks in the kitchen. 6. As the coyote strolled into the livingroom ......... 7. You smell like a gym sock and your tattoos are a bit frightening. 8. AHA!!! A secret staircase! 9. What in the name of all that is holy did you just say?!!! 10. You don't seem to realize the cosmic importance of this.
How much would a custom GAS FIREPLACE cost? ? something similar to this. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.montigo.com/scource/img_1138-med.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.montigo.com/img_1138.html&h=543&w=800&sz=404&hl=en&start=4&um=1&tbnid=MKHu62e5QO74HM:&tbnh=97&tbnw=143&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgas%2Bfireplace%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN Also what do you think the return value on this would be?? I own a 2Bed/1Bath home, and plan to live here for about three more years. I dont think i'll be putting in a pool because the return on it is so little. If it pay 30 to have it put in, i may only get 10 back. So im thinking of starting small......light remodling in the bathroom, maybe gutting the kitchen......and as for the living room, I wanted to install french doors for a nice backyard entrance as well as a gas stove.........these are big plans!! I hope to have all this done within a year...we'll see. But as for the gas fireplace, I am LOVING the idea. I saw something like this on HGTV...... Also: I am a newbie!!
Just got an LG washer and dryer that sit on drawers and they are too big for my laundry closet.? My laundry space is a closet with bi fold doors. It's 67 inches wide and 33 inches deep. I had to remove the doors because I couldn't close them with the new washer and dryer inside. Now I have about 36 inches of depth to work with. I also lost the use of the upper cabinets because the w & d are 52 1/2 inches tall and I can't reach over them. I don't like being able to see the w & d thru the kitchen and am trying to come up with a way to make the space more usable and more stylish. Does anyone have any ideas or know where I can look?? I've checked HGTV and Diynetwork with no luck. Other people must be having the same problem with these newer, bigger washers and dryers.??!!
What are your favorite off network/network reality shows? What are your favorite off network/network reality shows? I have just found a new reality show.... it's on Animal Planet....called----Groomer has it It was so cool!!..I just caught my first show tonight. Has anyone else seen it? I am usually Survivor, Big Brother, Amazing Race and American Idol fan.... I like Hell's Kitchen sometimes too, does Nanny 911 and Trading Spouses count as reality TV? I like them too I really liked the first season of HGTV's design star...I missed the 2nd season (no cable) Just looking for others favorites
remodel my house, any help would be appreciated? we just bought a house that we plan on living in for at least the next 5-7 years. it has 1660 sq ft. main floor has kitchen 12x11, dinning room 12x12 living room 16x14 master 19x10 and another bedroom 12x10 and a small bathroom and long hallway. upstairs has loft area 26x14 and 2 bedrooms 13x11 and a half bath. what i was wondering is we watch that HGTV all the time. we were thinking about knocking down the wall between the 2 downstairs bedrooms and making the master larger and adding another large master bathroom so we would have a master suite. that would still leave us with 3 beds and 2.5 baths. i want to know if that will increase the value of my home going from a 4 bed 1.5 bath, another problem is we are the largest house in the area right now. there was an upstairs added, all the other houses are smaller 1 story prolly 1000 sq ft homes. other houses around are going for 70-80k we bought ours for 110k. would it be worth doing this remodel???
How to revamp a dishwasher? I watched on hgtv where they popped out the front & put a self-adhesive stainless steel-like "paper" on it ....but I don't know what it's called or where to find it. Also, I don't think my front pops out. The DW is cream w/ plastic control panel & flat press buttons. If I used appliance/plastic spray paint, the buttons would still be cream. My fridge & stove are stainless/steel/black. I wouldn't mind going black except for those cream buttons. It's a Kitchen Aid DW, about 6 yrs old. Also, my sink is cream - ok to ignore that??
Need help decorating!? My husband and I just bought our first house and are in the middle of remodeling it. I have NO decorating sense. I wish I did, I always watch HGtv and love what they do. I was hoping someone could tell me what they think are good paint colors for the following rooms: There are five bedrooms: master, baby's (we dont have one yet so I was thinking like yellow or green?), guest 1 and 2 and my hubby's office. The living room, kitchen, and bonus family room. We're 22 (well technically I'll be 23 next week :) lol) so I'd like something modern. Thanks so much!!! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! oh yeah, the kitchen is kind of small. What colors make a room look bigger. I need new cabinets, counter tops and appliances! I have no idea what colors to pick!!!
I have a limited budget of about 10,000 for decorating
