Are there any soup kitchens I can volunteer at in Sydney? Im only fourteen, but my friends and I would love to volunteer at a soup kitchen. We don't know where any are, and so we're a bit lost. If there are any soup kitchens in Parramatta, Strathfield, Burwood or Summerhill that anyone knows about, it would be greatly appreciated if you could tell me. Also any weblinks or phone numbers that we could visit/call. Thanks
Do you know of any good websites where I can see sample kitchens? We're building our home and I'd like to see a lot of pictures of sample kitchens (color, layout, and appliances.) Most important is the color combinations... we are pretty settled on layout. Maybe a website that allows you to pick your colors and see how they match. Thanks!
Where can I find photos of kitchens? I'm painting my cupboards a red and my walls a cream yellow, although my spouse wants to see actual pictures of actual kitchens that may have these color cupboards and walls. Any suggestions as to where I can find some photos?
What are the ADA guidelines for residential kitchens in churches? In certain churches we use large residential-style equipment to create a kitchen that can feed two or three hundred people. We are currently debating whether the counter tops all need to be at 34", whether only a few need to be at 34", or if none need to be at 34". ADA 4.2.5 refers to Figure 6(c) which shows 34" max. However, we haven't been able to find any standard which spells out what percentage of a kitchen needs to comply with ADA. Again, these are not commercial kitchens, they are large kitchens using residential equipment.
What is a good program to use for designing kitchens? I need to design kitchens on the computer and would like to be able to show customers both floor plans and elevation views. What is the best program to use for this? I would prefer to spend under $100 to get started, but later on down the road I am open to spending more for a better program. So I guess I should ask, what's the best pogram under $100. Thanks!!

Just a Statement on laminate flooring in kitchens/bathrooms? NO questions here, Just a statement so no one makes any mistakes with this. If you want to install laminate in your kitchen or bathroom DO NOT. Laminate warps with water. If you want wood in your kitchen, I suggest a high quality vinyl that looks just like wood, or real hardwood. Laminate also warps in bathrooms due to the high moisture. If you have a dishwasher, defianatly do not put laminate in your kitchen, the slightest leak of water will wreck your entire floor. I own a flooring business and have seen people make these mistakes for a long time. I really wish others wouldnt do the same, because your flooring may only last you a year in a bathroom, and that gets quite costly after awhile. Kitchens last longer unless you have a dishwasher that leaks suddenly, then you're faced with a new crisis of needing new flooring. Thanks!!!!!
What are the regulations regarding sports club kitchens? I have been led to believe that there must be stainless steel splash backs but how much of the wall surface must be s/steel (if any). The kitchen is used for preparing teas for a village cricket club (not mass sales) and the less s/steel required the better due to a lack of funds. Do the work tops need to be s/steel. Can anyone help please, especially anyone with an encyclopedic knowledge of building / food safety / hygiene regulations. Thank you all in anticipation.
Am I the only person who dislikes granite and stainless steel kitchens? I think the look of stainless steel appliances makes a kitchen look like a garage or some industrial kitchen. I also find that granite looks like puke. Am I the only person in the world who thinks this fad is going to be by the wayside like the avocado green, harvest gold and burnt sienna appliances of the 70s? Stainless steel is impossible to keep clean and scratch-free! Especially if you have little ones in the house. And the granite is a lot of maintenance too! You have to condition it, and many household cleaners will harm the finish....and I've even heard that a hot pot could scald it! I'll stick to Corian. I love the stuff. I like the white cabinets and laminate countertops and nice hardware. I'm just not into the sterile look of stainless. And I don't understand the overinflated prices of granite or stainless either! Recently, my sister and her family bought a house. It hadn't been updated since 1977, the kitchen was in a horrible state. I talked her out of the stainless steel and granite (one because of price) but also because she has a small dog (who would scratch up the appliances) and a toddler. I do think these kitchens look nice in the showroom, but I'm a little neurotic about my kitchen cleanliness and I would go crazy trying to keep them looking nice. Also, if I were to spend that much on granite and ss, I'd never want to change it....and I know that in 10 years I'd be sick of it! Em: I know my style is more along the lines of vintage/traditional. If I were house shopping and one house had an older kitchen (in relatively good condition) and the other had a modern, stainless/granite kitchen, I'd go with the older one. I can replace countertops and paint cupboards. I also adore the look of an art deco styled kitchen (with modern appliances).
How are all of these ladies using the computer from their kitchens? Marissa, That is what I was going for. Nancy, Stop being so perfect. Baba Yaga, I do find it funny that you are assuming the name of a famous witch from old European fairy tales as a pseudonym for a feminist persona, however, you really need to learn your place and get back to work on making that roast or I won't get you that new mop you have been eyeing. Rebel man, My computer is in the kitchen at home actually. I am frequently cooking and using the PC at the same time.
Why are kitchens so small ? I've seen a few large kitchens, but most of the kitchens I've seen are so small only one person can fit in them at one time . Many married couples / families like to make dinner together, and that's difficult in a small kitchen . I have been told that a kitchen is the most expensive room in a house, but once you have the refrigerater, the stove and the kitchen sink paid for, a large kitchen is exactly as cheap as a small kitchen . Why are kitchens so small ?
How do you work out the size of boiler to get, as no real info on working out capacity for baths kitchens etc? The boiler would need to service kitchen, loo, utitliy with sink, & bathroom with seperate shower - shower we want to be run straight from boiler (yes we know we need a scold preventing thingy) we are also planning on doing extension approximatly 5m by 4m but this we want to be done by underfloor heating The btu for this room will need to be 8821 (lots of glazing) for the rest of the house, it needs to be approximatly 4100, (we have oversized some of the radiators, due to getting it from a combined central heating pack and so we get the look rather than the right btu, but none are too small for the room!) It is a toss up between these worcester condensing combi boilers 40CDI - 40kw - 136,000btu - 16.0l/min 35CDI - 35kw - 120,000btu - 14.3l/min 30CDi - 30kw - 102,300btu - 12.7l/min 30SI - 30kw - 105,000btu - 12.3l/min we chose worcester as it got the least amount of critisism from this site, could someone also explain the difference between CDI and SI in the worcester boiler
What has your experience been with IKEA kitchens? We are getting a rental property that needs updating and I'm debating on going with an Ikea Kitchen over a cabinet outlet center here in Chicago to save us money. Please give your honest opinion or let me know if better quality but afforable options are available.

Why on earth do people put carpets in bathrooms, toilets or kitchens? I mean..how disgusting? We rent and when we moved in to this house there was a horrible carpet in the loo...and one in the bathroom....we had to persuede (SP) the landlord to let us rip them out...I mean...previous tenants had been "splashing" on them...how yuk is that? Do you have one? Why?
