Interior design ideas for a working British style Phone Booth (the red one) into a living/rec. room? I once saw a working phone booth, with door and all, incorporated into a living room in an interior design magazine. I am currently planning designs for my basement-party-lounge room, and think this design element would be a great conversation piece for guests. how do i pick interior designs for a living room? me and my husband are moving into a new house in about five months! the living room is a square that is shared with the dining room so i am thinking a sectional sofa or a couch and loveseat. my main problem is colors!!!! How do interior designers hide lamp cords? Bust open any copy of Martha Stewart Living, or House Beautiful, or Fancy Shmancy Living, and it becomes immediately apparent that the owners of these beautifully decorated homes do not have lamps, phones, or other electronic equipment with power cords. Is there really a way to hide them in a normal home, or are they just hidden away for the photo spread? I'm trying to decide the best color to paint my living room. Someone with some interior design knowledge help? I'm trying to decide the best color to paint my living room. I have couches that are microsuede and my carpet is a beige color. The color of my couches is a (down home) color according to the sherwin williams colorsnap app. Which is basically a darker beige color than my carpet. Can anyone give me an idea of a budget range for interior design of a living room? I am saving up some money to have my living room redone by a professional designer, but I have no idea what a reasonable budget is. The floors have recently been redone, but I would need everything else (paint, lighting, furniture, area rug, accents). I was thinking $15,000? The room is pretty big. I don't think I can get all new furniture and a nice area rug for $1000. The reason I don't want to do this particular room myself is that it is the main room (no formal living or game room or den or anything), and it is a funny shape, so I want to make sure me and my husband are both comfortable in the room (for him) and for it to look really nice (for me). I am hoping a designer can convince him to take down the wolf print over the fireplace that I have given up on! lilbubbles, hiring and interior designer and then not let them complete the work/cheat them out of getting paid for their work is not something I am comfortable doing, but thank you for your input.

What is the style of Pushing Daisies' interior designs? I am absolutely in love with the decorating and interior designs on Pushing Daisies, especially Ned’s apartment and the Pie Hole. Interior Design Question. Help with arranging my Living room!!? We have exercise equipment(treadmill and eliptical) in our living room. They fold up, but the only place they fit is in our living area. Is there anyone out there that has any good design ideas for hiding or anything with exercise equipment located in your living room. Our house is about 1500 square feet, and the layout of our living room is open. Putting it in the garage is not an option because we have our washer and dryer out there. We would like to have company over, but because we don't have anywhere to put our stuff we usually make an excuse that our house is messy(which its not it just looks cluttered with the two pieces of equipment.. ) anyone have any ideas? Wanting to design with 3 men in the house? I have 2 male room mates and my husband. I love interior design but finding it impossible with 2 video game fanatics. I am wanting to design the living room but all I see is video games I am finding it almost impossible to camouflage these or store these and also store the 5 video game consoles. I need interior design advice/direction to make my living area workable. Does Tara Dennis do home visits?gmt? Lounge 6mx3.2m with central arch, adjoins kitchen 5mx3.2m which adjoins family room 7m x 4m via a central opening. The two openings form a thoroughfare through the kitchen. I want them to work bette/link together, remove clutter, with some design and colour advice and furniture positioning suggestions. Lounges faces due west, family room faces due east and the kitchen has no window except for a small opening into the family room It is dark and the only other light it gets is from the two openings.The passage to the bedrooms runs off the kitchen and the laundry backs on to it also. Do I open up the wall between the kitchen and family room, move the sink and put a window in the south wall? or do I completely relocate the kitchen to the other side of the room and maybe incorporate the laundry area in this process? I find when family visit the men sit in the lounge area watching TV, women in the family room with children running back and forth and spreading toys etc. GMT

Decorating my living room ? HELP.? I am completely redecorating my living room (carpet,sofas, paint the lot ) and i decided to start by painting the walls. Need opinion on curtains for my living room, please? I'm trying to remodel my living room. We have a small house, the LR is only appx 14x12. We have med-dark wood floors and are painting the walls white (summer shower by valspar). We just bought a big red sectional (not fire engine red, more like a faded red-orange leaning more towards red) I'm going to neutral accent colors, but I'm not sure about the curtains, there's only 1 large window in the room, which only allows natural light in in the evening because we have a covered front porch, so I dont want the fabric to be to dark or heavy as to allow as much light in as possible. So should I just go with white? or would that just be to much white in the room? Thank you so much in advance, I'm new to this interior design as this is our first home, and I've been googling pictures like crazy but cant find anything that screams at me for a smaller space.

Do schools of interior design have students do practicums? I am not color blind,but I have no sense of color. I can't pull together colors or accent pieces for my home. Help me with my colour scheme for my living room/lounge? Basically, the room is 25ftx12.5ft, and I dont want it to seem like a corridor. I'm thinking of getting a Walnut hardwood flooring, but would it make the room look small? Also, any ideas on how to do the walls? Interior Design Question? I just moved in and I love the brick walls in my new apartment. It is consistent from living room, kitchen to the bedroom. My question is, my sister who gets the other room insists that it is "OK" to have a different wall design and/ or color to each of the bedrooms or rooms. I disagree. I see houses with different wall colors and i find them inconsistent and less tasteful. Is it acceptable? or a consistent wall color /design is much preferred?

Does any body have a one point perspective drawing of their lounge room or any lounge room ? I am doing an Introduction course for Interior design and need a one point perspective of a lounge room. I only live in an apartment so my lounge room is a bit small for what I want to do. Making interior design sketches look more realistic (done with watercolors)? Hi all. Im making an interior deisgn sketch of my living room using watercolors. The problem that I have with water colors is that the pictures dont look "realistic". How do I know if I need to hire a general contractor and/or designer for a kitchen/living room remodel? I am a young professional just out of college and I bought a decent, but older condo. I really need to remodel my living room and definitely my kitchen. I have the design ideas of the remodel, but nothing totally set. Here's my dilemma: 1. Should I hire an interior designer and if so, how much do they usually cost? Is it worth it? 2. The biggest question: Should I hire a general contractor OR hire individual skilled contractors separate (electrical, painters, flooring, kitchen installers, etc)? 3. If I go with the general contractor, is this more expensive? If so, how much more would I be likely to be spending? 4. How do I go about choosing the best contractors (especially for the kitchen)? It is okay to go to a Lowe's or Home Depot? I'm obviously very new to this home remodel thing, but here's what I would like to get done: -Remove old carpet in living room. -Remove old tile in entrance foyer and kitchen. -Install laminent wood throughout kitchen and living room. -Re-do baseboards. -Remove popcorn acoustic on ceiling. -Replace old florescent light in kitchen with recessed lighting. -Re-paint entire place a neutral color. Also need to repair minor wall markings. Also re-paint ceiling. -Wire a dedicated outlet to the breaker box for an over the range microwave. -Tear out old kitchen. Interior Design Help!! Red Couch Nightmare!!!? I just moved into a new apartment and bought all new furniture. My girlfriend insisted on getting red colored couches. In my own opinion, red is a very difficult color to match anything with. I gave in and got the red couches. All I can do all day is stare at them with this disgusted look on my face because I have no idea how to decorate the rest of the living room. I do have a couple of ideas, but I'm not enthralled with them. If anyone out there has experience with interior design, or has any ideas about matching red couches with curtains, area rugs, furniture etc, please feel free to comment. The only thing I can think of is going with cherry colored furniture (No Black) and different colors of creams, and beige's. I thought of going with an Asian look because Asians use a lot of red. What color goes well with black (interior design)? here is the problem 1.) i am a guy. i am clueless about interior design 2.) wall is painted tannish pink (not my choice). carpet is light colored 3.) my coffee table, sofa, desk, and study lamp is black 4.) the only think non-black is my dark red rug (beneath my coffee table), white shelf, and my silver floor lamp As you can see, i have too much black in my living room. Interior Design Issue - Awkward Space - HELP!? Try to picture these dimensions, and please give me ideas...My living room and family room connect (with an archway inbetween) and the rooms are both incredibly narrow and small. The family room connects with the kitchen/breakfast area which is hardwood flooring, and the LR/DR is all carpeting. There is little wall space due to windows and a fireplace....I can't seem to do anything with these spaces - no matter how I arrange furniture, I can't get a comfortable seating area with a TV in either room without it looking strange. I'm at the point where almost everything is removed from both rooms and I'm staring at empty space. Any design ideas from professionals or people who know what they're talking about when it comes to decorating is needed - please don't send links because I've googled this topic to death! Thanks!

I need interior designers to help me!? My mom has a country type of flavor when it comes to how her small 3 bedroom house looks. I want to paint her living room which is small. She loves covered bridges and lighthouse, and in that order. I want to give her 2 colors when I paint her living room but as I said she is scared of color. She loves the light her 3 living room windows bring. Anyone have ideas on if I should give her lighter or darker for the top color, and can someone recmond colors. Her rug is a light brown and her couch and one chair is deep green and her big arm chair is black. Interior designer? Ok this may sound really weird...i am 13 and i REALLY want to be an interior designer. I know what you're thinking, "How would a 13 year old know for sure what she wants to do?" I am looking for a website that has a lot of "how to" tips on how to decorate the interior of homes. Math is at Work in Interior Design How is math in interior design? We interview different people and figured out the math is one of the biggest parts for interior design. The first way that math is used in interior design is by finding the different measurements of the room. Interior designers use the following units of measurement; feet, inches, yards (for fabrics) and square footage. When you measure the area of the walls that is when you will use square footage. To find the square footage of a room you need to multiply the length of a wall by the width. We learned this from a person at Heritage Design Concierge who we spoke to on October 9th, 2008. Another way that math is used in interior design is in the plan view. As we learned from Erickson Design Associate on October 9th, 2008, everyone needs room. This would be called proximity. Proximity shows how much space a person needs, it also relates to anthropometric matter. Anthropometric matter is wheter the person is an adult, a kid, or how big they are. You need to know this to find out how much space you need for the person or people who will be living in it. You need to measure the space in the room so you know how to design it so that it is suitable for them to live in it. Most interior designers will have a plan view for the room. The plan view shows how your going to design the room for the person/people. You use math in this by getting good measurements for the room and furniture. This is one of the biggest parts of interior design using measurements. A third way that math is used in interior design is in putting furniture, and other things in the room. First you need to find what furniture your looking for and measure it. Write that down on a piece of paper and bring it back to the room you are designing. Find out if it fits in the room by measuring the area you were going to but it in. You will mostly do that for everything you are putting in there. You are only going to be estimating with the wall paper and floors. They do not require exact measurements. For example, say with the floors you need 233 square feet for the master bedroom, you would get 300 square feet. This is because there might be tricky edges along the way and you would have extra for that because you don’t know how much extra you need. That would be estimating. Now, for fitting in other objects, like window treatments you first of all need to find out how big the window is. After finding out that you need to measure the window treatments you want to make sure they will fit correctly. Find the length and width of the windows using inches. Then it should all be easy to find the right window treatments. Lastly, for the paint on the walls, you will find the square footage of the wall. So say the square footage for the wall is 100 square feet, you would find a paint bucket that can fit a wall for 100 square feet. All in all for interior design you use a lot of math. It is so important when designing a room that you do the calculations correctly. Otherwise everything could go wrong. It may be a little difficult but when you actually learn a lot about interior design, it can be pretty easy. Now we have answered the question, how is math used in interior design?

Caught hubby cheating on tape ? Okay my hubby and i have been married 2 yrs and have a 1.5 yr old daughter.My husband and i have defentiantly have had our problems.I even considered divorce 3 times already(no he did not know) but recently i changed my mind just before handing him the divorce papers because he did something nice for me like he used to while we were dating.So i thought maybe we could solve our problems and stop the never ending fight. I was trying to find a show that i had taped a while back on design that i thought would help me on some ideas with a client(i do interior design).What i found was a tape of my husband cheating on me in our living room it was recent because the leather chair in the backround i bought for him recently as a gift.I feel so hurt and heart broken but cant bring myself to confront my hubby? I am looking for an inexpensive home design for a small and narrow lot 28x72. I want a simple lean to shape.? Most homes are too wide and the modernist homes are nice but too expensive. I only need windows on the front and the back. I do not need a garage, but I do need a drive. I have front and back street access and it needs to be built on piers. I would like 2 bedrooms with 1 or 2 baths and an open floor plan with the living and kitchen areas. It should be 1,000 sq ft or under and a very simple inexpensive design. I feel like I have few options because I want to keep the cost down and no one makes money that way. I only need maybe 2 interior doors at the most and I would like my closets to have rolling barn style panels. I do not want a pitched roof but I do want a lean to style roof, so the living room seems vaulted but I can put the duct work above the ceiling in the bedrooms. I want the bedroom and baths on one side, with a porch and living space on the otherside possibly wrapping around the back. It does not seem that this should be so complicated. I have always had feelings for my daughters father but now it seems to have become kind of like sextual tension almost on top of feeling? My ex.bf only stays over sometimes not always.

Ever since I was a little girl, I've always wanted to do interior design. I loved how I could use my artistic abilities to make rooms unique, find the best arangement for furniture, and help others feel comfertable and happy in their space. I plan on going to college next year as a major in interior design. However, somthing as equally intresting and good in pay has recently attracted my attention. Home staging. I love the idea of helping people sell their homes through making others invision themselves living in it. Not only that, but the pay is great, and I do very well in high-stress level possitions. It gives me a rush, and I love the feeling of accomplishment. Now I have a problem. I don't know what would be better for me to do. interior design help!!!? I'm now shopping for window treatments in the living room, but don't know what color to shop for that will enhances the room. our living room and the kitchen is one room separated by an island and the flooring. the living room area is a beige color carpet and the kitchen is tile in the color of different shade of beige. the wood cabinet in the kitchen is a cross between an oak/walnut stain. with granite countertop. also some shade of beige with black dots and gray. We have a leather corner sectional in the color cream. I know it's kind of confusing without pictures, but i kinda feel that the window treatment should not be another color of beige or cream. what color should I get for the roller shade that will end up behind one corner of the sectional? our wall is eggshell white. btw, I was aiming for a modern contemporary look for the room, but kind of sophisticated.

I may be moving. My son bought a 3 family home in my present neighborhood. I need interior design advice.? It's an old style home built in 1900. Rooms a smaller than I'm use too but the home I have now is gigantic and I can't see keeping it after the kids are gone. In this new home, my youngest son will live with his wife on the 3rd floor, the home owner, my eldest son will live on the 2nd floor and my husband and I have the 1st floor. The kitchen and bath need a complete remodel. Hard wood floors and lovely door and window trim, also also finished wood. The house overlooks a marina and river. Presently my home is decorated in a Tuscan style with the use of earth elements, leather, wood and stone. Not sure it'll have the same appeal in the new place. There is also about an acre of land, fruit trees, grapevines and sun porches that overlook them. Please give me some idea's for apartment decorating. I've never lived in an apartment. Can anyone help me with this boring balcony? I am moving to a new apartment and there is a fairly large balcony. There is an overhang that provides a little shade, but not too much. I am not too proud to say that when it comes to interior design (exterior in this case), I am completely inept (also I don’t have a ton of money).
